The level of polish in your game is absolutely unbelievable! I loved the music and the gorgeous VFXs. The only part I didn't enjoy as much was the gameplay itself because it felt a little too simple in comparision to the overall look of the game but you absolutely aced all of the other categories. Two minor bugs I encountered: back button in credits doesn't work for mouse, screenshake in browser is like 100 times stronger than on desktop build.

The progression feels a little too slow for a game jam game . I died on level four, and really didn't want to try to get all the way back, but I also felt like I missed a ton of content. I'm guessing this was intentional, but every mutation seemed to make your character worse overall, so each pick was lose-lose, and the dash ability felt like it took too much time between clicking and dashing to really be useful.

The art has so much polish, with all the little animations everywhere, and the sound design is incredible! I think it just needed a bit more playtesting to really hone the gameplay.

Really excellent polish on this one, love the visuals and the music. I did feel the gameplay loop itself needed a bit more depth though e.g. other entities to dodge, obstacles etc. That said, well done on a unique entry overall!

Wow, absolutely stunning graphics and art direction! The particle effects were JUICY, the music hypnotic and went well together with the neon color palette/club vibes. The sound design was well thought out too. Great job, nice entry!!

Amazing presentation.

Developer

Thank you!

Holden definitively cooked with the CSS and the game sprites with the help of Renya, and TehBnuuy cooked with the promo art!

Such a good game. All the aspects are great, I was certainly stunned by both the visual and audio. The dna level up is also such a good way to add the them and upgrade your player at the same time. Amazing aesthetic and execution. Great game!

Absolutely stunned by the visuals, UI, audio and just polish in general. I cannot believe this was done in such a short amount of time. Actual gameplay did feel like there a little something missing but godayum I could just stare and listen to this game all day. Seriously blown away, the mutation UI, sound, everything...

Developer

Thank you so much!

Firstly, about the gameplay... yeah, we had one more entity planned, but we didn't have the time to add it.

And secondly, I agree, lulle cooked with the music, but I'm quite surprised to see someone positively mention the SFX - that was the most rushed part of the game imo. I didn't have enough tome to polish the audio as much as I'd like (e.g. consistent volumes, more UI sounds, etc.)

gem. i loved maneuvering through bunch of enemies.

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thanks for your comment!

I'm also with you. I'm glad we managed to add the Termin enemy to chase the player throughout the maze. Between Termin and Lamis, Termin is my favorite and I think it adds a lot to the gameplay!

Incredible visual and audio design! Super creative UI as well, and a very cool take on the theme! Great job!

The Is Great And The Style And the most beloved thing is the ui i mean WOW
thanks for your effort you made a great game
thanks for all the team
and i will be happy if you tried my game

Developer

Nah, man. Thank YOU for playing and leaving your comment.

Reading stuff like this, wheter it is compliments and praises or constructive criticism, is what makes game dev so rewarding for me: having the stuff I make (solo or with a team) be seen and appreciated.

Loved the visual style! I thought the tradeoffs for the powerups were really well balanced as well

Developer(+2)

cheers on that mate, i have to say i did not expect that comment on the balance since we rushed that part lol

No problem, especially it feels like you approached the negative affects well. They all felt significant so it makes you want to focus on creating the 'least worst build' which is a cool twist that's different than a lot of roguelikes I've played

Submitted(+3)

That was so cool and SOOOOO many levels, wow! Cant believe the polish and style! Thanks for submitting and hanging around in the livestream! Hope to hear your thoughts an rating for my little prototype!

Amazing polish on this one! I do think that about 10 levels would have been enough for this type of game, but the gameplay itself felt smooth!

Developer

Programmer here. Thank you for your feedback!

Honestly, I like the fact the game can go as far as 30 levels - I really like the chaos XD. But for the content we managed to add, yeah, I agree, 10 to 15 was probably enough.

30 levels would only be truly justified if we added more entities and more content in general to the game.

Again, thank you for your comment and I'm glad you liked what we cooked :D

Thank you! :D

This game looks great.  I'm really curious how the shaders were implemented on this.

Some feedback:

  • After around 10 levels, it felt very repetitive and needed something other than blindly going through a maze and hoping there isn't a dead end.  However, thank you for leaving enough room in the dead ends to get around the chaser.
  • I like the idea of upgrades throughout, but often I received the same option multiple times, so really I had 2 choices not 3.
  • The helix level screen is a fantastic way to show progress
  • The first time the beam connected to destroy, I thought it was attacking me and ran away not realizing what was happening.

Really cool demo though.
Is the heart beat animation a small pixel animation + a shader warp?

Developer(+1)

feedback sounds about right we were a little too ambitious and ended up not having that much content

for the heart beat in the lower left corner, its a small pixel animation, anything else you may see on it is post-processing which is applied to the entire screen

Amazing visuals and and audio, I really like the idea of progressing through the genome !

I mean this is just a beautiful looking game. The art and animations looks stunning and professional including the game's landing page. It was my first time submitting or even participating in a game jam but did you guys really do this just for this? If so, fantastic work. I spent all my time trying to get my dash to work right :P

Developer(+1)

that is correct, this game was indeed made entirely for this gamejam (it was a last-minute decision to join)

in all fairness, most of our team already had plenty of experience so we already had some idea of how to go about this game
