I wish you luck in this, I'd offer my services but honestly I'm a one man show doing my own project. Metroidvania's are fun to work on though I have one music related that I have on the backburner atm. Anyway I'm American and probably wouldn't understand most of it my British tv understanding is all mainstream. But I do understand the feel you're going for I will add that it might not sell well, if you don't look to attract audiences of other groups. I also might suggest if you want a particular feel to branch out outside just pixel art. There are a lot of different looks you could go for and one of these might resonate better with your theme and esthetic.
