Hey - just wanted to say your artwork is awesome!

Hi - I don't know if you're still looking for someone to work with, but I'm working on a game at the minute and thought I'd contact to see if it's of interest at all. My discord handle is HandsomeStrife, and I posted more about what I'm doing here: /t/6528480/revshare2d-art-artist-partner-wanted-sotn-style-metroi...

Thanks Pete! I've dropped you an email to the one on your artstation :)

Hey there - have dropped you a friend request on Discord. Let me know the type of game you're thinking and if it's something I think I could work with!

Hey - have dropped you a friend request on Discord, let me know what you're thinking :)

If you're still looking I might be able to help :)

Hey!

I'm looking for an artist who has a game idea but needs help with the development side of it. I've been working in Godot for a bit (however have been a programmer for the past 20 years or so), and looking to stretch the muscle with a real project.

Full transparency: I'm in the process of developing a 2D metroidvania myself but I'm lacking an artist for it. Potentially I'm thinking of a skill share where I help with your game and you help me with the art in mine, but that's not a dealbreaker for me if you'd rather not and would just want to work on your game. As I say, looking to get some more real world skill in the game development side.

Happy to talk payment, rev-share, or other type of deal - just let me know! I'm based in the UK, in case timezones are important.

Cheers,

Dan

Hey there - I'm currently looking for an artist for a revshare, I made a post back here: /t/6528480/revshare2d-art-artist-partner-wanted-sotn-style-metroi...

If it's of interest feel free to drop me a message here or on discord @handsomestrife

Hey Scott - I appreciate the honesty and thanks for engaging! I think the game itself should have appeal outside of relying on the British TV theming, but it'll serve as an extra "nod" throughout. I'll drop you an add on Discord though, always fun to chat about game design stuff :)

I'm a programmer building a Symphony of the Night-style metroidvania, and I'm looking for an artist to partner with and build this with me. Someone with opinions of their own, who'll design rooms and bosses I'd never dream up and treat the world as much theirs as mine. I'm a big fan of art, I just can't seem to get it right myself, no matter how many evenings I throw at it.

That's the player character. Full transparency: I made the first version myself, but I commissioned someone to polish it up and animate that run so I could keep developing without placeholder art doing my head in. I can't afford to keep commissioning piece by piece though, and that's really why I'm here. I've been aiming at hand-made pixel art, but I'm honestly open to other styles if you have a vision for what it could look like!

The setting

A love letter to SoTN and 80s/90s British telly. A haunted broadcasting castle where the old entertainers have curdled into the bosses. An evil "Noe Dedmonds". Eldritch Teletubbies. The sort of Saturday-night host who's still grinning long after the cameras should've been switched off. The story itself is dark, about not being able to let go, but scattered with comedic relief, and ideally some very uncanny-valley characters that warp how you used to see these people.

A lot of the references reach back to the telly you'd have grown up on over here, which is most of why I'm hoping for someone in the UK who might resonate with them.

Where it's at

Full honesty on the state of it: it's early. It's running in Godot, the player character's animated and hooked up to controls, and the zones and bosses are being mapped out. The systems and code I'm happy to grind out over time on my own (or together). Art and art direction is the piece I'm missing: tilesets, enemy and boss sprites, character animation, the look of the world itself.

I won't undersell the commitment: something this size is likely well over a year of work, probably a good deal more. That's exactly why I keep saying partner. I'm not looking for someone to knock out a tileset and move on, I'm looking for the other half of a long project, someone who'll still be as into it at month fourteen as week one, and without the expectation that this is at all full time; the work happens as and when it can.

Money's a 50/50 revenue share, and I'm happy to put that in writing before we start anything. Like most passion projects, this might come to nothing. But if the idea makes you laugh and you want to genuinely co-own how it looks, with a fair split you can hold me to, I'd love to talk.

Reply here with a link to your portfolio, or add me on Discord: HandsomeStrife. (Almost) 40, he/him.

Cheers,

Dan

If it helps, I've made a highlight of me doing it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2318037318

I tried many different times, with and without the box, but no such luck.

Hello! I played v1.1 of your game, and I couldn't get the light to load when inserting toys. V1 seemed to work fine.

Amazing! Thank you for the reply and confirmation - looking forward to playing and trying to do a speed run of it :)

Hey, just stumbled on this game and it looks super interesting! Shame I missed the bundle deal. Will there be a Christmas sale by chance? <3
