Cute character designs!

I think I have the same complaints with most commenters. I think the ingredients should have labels, or at least some very distinct features so we can differentiate them. Not sure how the score is calculated, but it seems fine to just not pick the flavors described. Combined with the lack of a goal or challenge, it just kinda feels random quick.

The music is fun. But the game lacks sounds when you sold the ice cream. The floating money text should also be larger and more legible.

Cute game with a real cozy vibe and a great pixel art. Maybe too cozy, cause the game is too easy and lacks a challenge, with some additional features (like a shop) this could truly become something more! also would be nice if there was an indication for what each topping and ice cream is and maybe some simple but fun character dialogue . Music also was nice! keep it up

super cozy and cute pixel art!! The sounds are also charming and match the theme well. The buff rat customer was definitely my favorite<3 I struggled a little because I didn’t know what doce de leite was, but I can already tell this game is going to get even better. Great job!!

The art is super cute! I really liked the variety of options for what you can give to customers, and I liked the customers designs too. The only thing I would point out is the gameplay. I added whatever I wanted to the ice cream and still always made money without any drawback. Also, the money cannot really be used anywhere, for example to buy more ingredients. So I would love to see that I'm going somethere to achieve something in the game :)
Still, it has great potential and is a really nice game idea!

Developer(+1)

I just had to include some polish easter egg in the game :D

Developer

thank youu, we're already working on some new features, including a shop so you can buy new stuff, thank you for your feedback, glad you liked it !! ^^
hope u can test it again when it's updated ;)

I liked the customers being little puppets, and the overall feel was pleasant.  I think tool tips or some other label (i.e. a little picture of a strawberry) on the ice cream would have helped make the designated flavors more obvious.  It wasn't clear if there was an ideal opposite answer for each request, or if just avoiding what was asked for was the best play.  I got some different scores, but most were selling for 50 or 60.  0 seems like an obvious low score, you could even go negative, but idk if 50 is an average score or a high one.  maybe a sound effect on sale that scales with the rating (i.e. a 2-3 note chime each for bad, ok, and great results).  I concur with the other responses here that it's a very charming game.

on further testing, a matched cone garnered -50, so I guess I was doing pretty well.

Developer

thank youu, hmm yeah i should've explained things better, make it clear, my bad ;c
well, about the money, you lose money according to: if you have a different cone than the current order, a different amount of scoops, a different flavor and a different topping, each one of these u get wrong u win a certain amount of points that later on is multiplied by 2 i guess, i forgot... well, idk how to explain sorryy KKKKK

you're fine, I just think an additional point of feedback to give context to the point value would help.  You definitely put together a detailed grading system, and while I don't think you want to give everything away to the player it helps to have context.

The music was so nice and relaxing, I could not be mad at them for not knowing what they wanted! Really cozy game, I thought I was doing okay before reading the description a realizing I could make so much money by NOT giving them what they asked for! The art is also very cute, the ingredients are easy to recognize :) And now I want an ice cream 🍦

Developer(+1)

thank youu, i know rightt i also loved the music haha
yeah i guess it's easy to earn money when u find out about the rule since u can give them anything and the chance of it being the right order is really low anyway ..
thankss again, i wanted an ice cream too 🍨

Developer

So glad you liked the music I made for the game! Thank you so much for your feedback! 😊🙏🏻

A really nice & cute polished game i must say! but i had few misunderstandings with the ingredients, like i didn't understand the name of the scoop flavour

Developer

oh i see, yeah i should've added signs, i'm working on it already

I didn't read immediately the description of the game, so I went only knowing the limitation of the jam, curious to know how it would be applied. I started trying to follow customer's order, thinking maybe your take on the limitation was the no labeling policy on food, to have us guess at best what was what, and I made money, until I nailed it: I was so sure I made the right ice cream, and I lost soooo much money. At that point I remembered the title of the game, tried to do an ice cream avoiding everything the client ordered and made the most amount of money since I took this job. That realisation made me laugh a lot, and when to be sure I finally read that description, I was happy I went in the game blind.

All that to say, your game is one of my favourite take on the jam limitation, you did a wonderful job and I had a great time! Well done!

Developer(+1)

tysm!! i loved reading about how you figured it out KKKK
the moment where you were sure you made the perfect ice cream and then lost a ton of money is exactly the kind of reaction I was hoping for!
i'm really happy you enjoyed the game, and it means a lot to hear it's one of your favorite takes on the jam theme
thanks for playing and for leaving such a nice comment!
your game is so cutee btw, i'm testing it rn

Well hello hello my fellow ice cream shop friends :D Lovely game. I was making so much ice cream for all the folks! lol. I was just mixing anything I wanted to give to them. :P Great art and placement of the shop. The vibes were chill. Great jam. You should all be proud.

Developer

Love the art! Really fun stuff!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! It was my first time working with the bigger resolution of pixel art and fully committing to a limited color palette without using hue shifting to make more. Pretty useful experience for learning and with great results!

At first I was actually taking it seriously, what's wine flavor? What's a doce de leite? Some trial and error... Then, I gave up and just served them random mashup buttons and got rich HAHA. And then it got worse from there, I just kept serving them one type of cone and one type of flavor... Hah, the woes of capitalism...

Great game! I think the audio stopped working after it finished a few loops? Like the music. The song is really oczy though.

Developer

yeah i guess it's easy to get rich like that 😅
thank you tho !!
and i jst realised abt the song when i alr uploaded it... my bad
i really like the song too

Cute game and art!! I know the limitation was rough - but you made an impressive work! About the gameplay, I read the instructions... But it felt like I could just make endless random scoops and get rich ^^' BTW Doce de leite é simplesmente o melhor sabor, falei falou <3

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thankss !!
yeah i know, i still need to improve this mechanics.. or u can get rich really easily, right?  KKKKK amoo doce de leite (que bom encontrar alguém que fala português por aqui XD)

Cool game!

Maybe adding a little text with the "The clients are compulsive liars" part would help, as I did not read that and was kinda confused of why I was loosing money, besides that, maybe addingg a small placard to the ingerdients would be really nice too!

Art is really cool and once u get the compulsive liars thing, it's really fun to play!

Developer(+1)

ohh yes, that'd be really nice, thank youu, i'll make everything clearer when i update the game in the future!

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! It could be greatly improved, it's not very clear which ingredients correspond to which colors. The music also doesn't loop.

Developer

i just noticed this abt the music too, my bad 😥
i'm looking forward to make it all better in the next version

I knew from the very beginning that the limitation this time would ruin many games. It’s so important for the game that everything is clear to the player, so they don’t struggle. Sometimes, even without limitations, developers can’t manage to pull this off. The limitation in this situation don't help, don't make the game more interesting.

I like the art, the characters, and the atmosphere. It’s a little lacking in clarity. For example, I don’t know what color the bubblegum ice cream is. Where the cup is, I thought it was the sprinkles, but the sprinkles turned out to be on the side. The cup covers two sections of ice cream... Overall, there’s room for improvement here.

Thanks for the game—great job!

Developer

yeah i agree it lacks clarity :/
but thank you for the feedback and i'll consider it when i update the game (after the jam rate ends) !!

Submitted(+1)

Very cute, I liked your interpretation of the limitation! I also liked that the characters looked kind of like popsicles, it felt very summery.

Developer

thank youu
yess it's cute, as if they were puppets yk?

Submitted(+1)

it would be great if theres a tooltip for the ingredients

Developer

yeah, i know, we had no time... i'll add it later, after the jam ends
