Managed to some of them but they just got snatched at the speed of light lol. Pretty cute game and feels very polished, everything is very well animated and fun to play. Though it gets quite frustrating not being able to do anything for the early waves :(. I guess it mimics life somewhat, nature is brutal after all.
I do agree with the others about the sounds not being a perfect fit, since it’s survival of the fittest out here and the music is like chill to the max
Glad you had a good time! I loved adding all the little juice and effects here, I think I spent two days on that bucket alone. I went with "Beach House" for the music genre with the theme in mind, but maybe I should have gone with the 1812 Overture.
This game was pretty hard to balance for me. All the different towers, enemies, dmg, range, speed, turtle numbers, upgrades, shell counts, spawn rates, rate of fire, special abilities, wave progression... It was definitely tricky to thread all the waves into any kind of cohesive playthrough line progression, but I kind of like that you have to be careful early on as you learn the towers/enemies and it gets more manic as time goes on.
Loved the animations, especially when you clicked on the little dudes. I sided with the crabs and didn't place any defenses in my first playthrough, let the circle of life win baby.
YES! I just knew somebody would do it. 😁
Fun and cute game. I really like most of the sound effects. The sniper sound was my favorite. I have to say though that the music choice is sort of out of place for me. Feels kinda too techno for the vibe. Maybe it’s just taste.
On the gameplay side, pretty good simple fun. Pretty satisfying to just lay stuffs down and watch them go. I didn’t know at first you can pick up the shells during combat to build more stuffs during rounds, so maybe that could have been explained better. Also maybe it’s for the chill vibe but I don’t see a lose condition. Yeah you get a score at the end but maybe it could have been more interesting to have a lose condition.
Theme is great, but I don’t think I see the limitation?
Overall a pretty good game, good job!
Thanks for your insightful feedback. I elected for no explicit loss condition and just let the player decide their goals to keep it comfy/cozy, yeah. As for the limitation, it comes out through the sandwriting crab, who leaves you discouraging, condemning, and misleading messages throughout the game, quite similar to the AI in your own game I would say. Thank you for stopping by and playing!
Haha, you’re probably right about the similarities between the 2 games. Maybe it could have been funny (but maybe not super cozy) to make an ending that says “Too many turtles were saved and the local pelicans population was devastated” or something like that.
Well there IS another path you can take through the game if you think about it... ;)
Top game in my honest opinion, it nailed everything!
Thanks man, that means a lot!
Very Nice game. Very well presented. Well done.
Thanks for playing!
Wow very nice game, great idea, well implemented mechanics, love the gameplay, great job!
Thank you!
Probably one of the best games I've played in this jam so far! The gameplay was so fun and satisfying, the art was fantastic, and everything was just super smooth. Seriously fantastic!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. Really I could say all the same about your game as well.
Nailed the theme, love the implementation of the limitation, the crabs comments were hilarious!
THE ART IS SUBLIME I LOVE THE MODELS!!!!
Great gameplay, only complaint would be that it was two forgiving but that isn't a negative, difficulty is subjective after all! I loved being able to place a bunch of upgraded bubblers at wave 10 it was very rewarding.
Audio was good! The music ate and the sound for picking up shells was INCREDIBLE.
I adored some of the small details like the seagull flying animation and the sandcastles starting out wet before drying!
edit: sorry my pc was bugging out and i posted this same commit three times :-;
Yo thanks Outty! Glad you enjoyed it. Happy you appreciated the shell sfx, I spent an extra long time on that, I really felt like I had to get it right and satisfying. Up until the last day or so of the jam, the game had a higher difficulty curve, but some of my initial play-testers didn't like the feeling of going broke and not being able to save those cute turtles at all, so I decided to err on the side of being a little lenient on the players, usually that goes better in jams anyhow where people are jumping between lots of games. Thanks for stopping by and saving those turtles!
OMG ! LOVE THE GAME!
Gameplay is fun and art is cute. Every points check out! ❤️😊
Dude, thanks for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed it.
I really fun to play your game. Very polished. Beautiful art and music. Actually I was thinking to add "save turtle" concept to my game also. Instead I did something different . Any way I loved it :)
I'm glad you loved it! I feel like our games are conceptual cousins, common ancestor sort of thing :)
