Ngl the game is a little confusing, but the polish and level of content is so awesome! I'm very impressed with how smooth and juicy and just, well-done this all is.
oh hey thanks uh GOTTA CHECK THE HONSE RATINGS NOW BYE!
This is giving me baltro vibes i like the game paly and the ui! the camera snapping was great! one criticism is I had zero clue what the items did so i was lost on that but great game and addicting!
Clever to make your UI elements moves around in a circle and looks like nice with the background effect.
The camera effects are snappy I am inspired to add more of these effects to my games in the future 🔮
I played in DARK MODE 🌚
I like any game that has an upgrade that flips you off
Spinning numbers to flip them is so clever, I know one puppet vampire who would be particularly pleased with this core loop 🧛!
Excellent stuff!
I was surprised by how cool the effects were when scoring haha, especially when you got a high score, good job! I did get stuck a couple times because I almost only had basic numbers and I'm not sure there is anything to do about that right? Still think the game was cool and a creative take on spinning!
hi thanks! ill learn from this to make your decision actually matter for future games lol
Interesting take on the theme! I felt like I didn't have enough tools to feel like I was in control of my performance at times and was just praying for any form of scoring due to 1/2 the numbers being dead draws. Good atmosphere and sfx!
thanks! ill use this as a base for my future games like these.
certainly one of the best games on this jam! i really love almost everything about this - the juiciness, the sound effects and music, the graphics, the somewhat edgy internet humour
the only real concern i have is that it is a bit inintuitive, but still i did manage to get it after a few rounds. also huge respect for making the metagame challenge easy enough :)
hi uh thanks! i had to speedrun the items so budget was at an all time low lmao.
also made the rules before gameplay so didnt have time to make a tutorial, this was probably the biggest mistake since i just expect people to know the gameplay just from the rules alone (which was barebones) lol.
about the metagame thingy, i decided the completion before nerfing the game (not that it was THAT hard before, you still need to beat 2 rounds tho this time the goal for points is half of what it was before) and uh i didnt wanna bother isha by changing it so kinda just left it there.
For only using Godot for about three weeks, I'd say you have a better handle on it and game mechanics than a lot of people!
Game juice was great. Discards and flips felt really impactful. I'm a sucker for the CRT monitor effect so loved that as well.
At first I wasn't exactly sure how to play: even with the tutorial / how to play I still felt like I had to play a few rounds just to get a feel for the game. I did get my Jam Metagame progression so apparently I understood it enough with some time :)
I'm not sure how to say I thought the music was good but might not have been the right music for the game IMO. But that is really subjective.
Others have said it and I will repeat it: you might be on to something here. I think it's a pretty unique concept that you can scale up and polish.
hey, just saw this message, thanks!
i kinda changed the gameplay after making the rules (yes i made the rules before the gameplay lmao), so i understand that people dont get whats happening on their screen lol.
about the music, originally this game was supposed to be a game like "world's hardest game", but then again i changed the idea to balatro roguelike so the music stays like that (tho it is subjective since i thought the music was good).
oh and also 1 last thing, most feedback i got was either the game was too hard, its hard to understand, or the crt effect being too strong
i did manage to 2 of the issues like the game being too hard because previously the goal formula was (300 * (round ^ 2)) which makes the progression really extreme lol, so i changed it to (150 * (round ^ 2)) (tho its worth to note that i participated in the metagame before changing the difficulty, so i respect the people who finished it before it got easier), although the round is infinite theres actually a win condition where you need to reach 1m points before (now 10k). the second issue was the crt effect being too strong (theres actually a setting for it, but its still a bandaid issue since you need to sacrifice quality for accessibility which wasnt the greatest thing ever).
Some good ideas in here, has scope for a bigger game - i wasn't sure how mult is scored, maybe that's explained somewhere but could be made clearer
mult isnt explained anywhere because originally it was supposed to be a futoshiki (unequal) puzzle based game when i made the rules (and the title of the game), but then i switched to balatro instead and forgot to update the rules lmao
to be straightforward: you get +1 mult and +(number) points for every flipped number
Really good game, the upgrades made me laugh. I think i got a bug at one point were I had two 8's that were not blue and didn't count in my scoring? Anyway, I beat the game. Pretty good!
thanks! static numbers (0, 1, 8) are supposed to not flippable after 1 flip, but the thing is that i forgot to reset every number's flip count to 0 when the round ended, that resulted in the numbers changing after round ended but their flip count is still the exact same (honestly i dont even know why i decided to make a flip count for the numbers lol, maybe it was because i wanted to make an item based on that but forgot? idk)
Ahhhh makes sense now lol no worries!
this game is such a cool concept. enjoyed my time with it. "say wallahi" sound was a lil loud lol
that was on purpose to let people know that they survived because of it (w speed btw), but that mightve been too extreme lol
The concept of spinning numbers to change them into different ones is brilliant. It’s also great that clearing stages rewards you with items you can use for future challenges! I really like the game’s atmosphere, too:)
Had lots of fun! It was a little confusing at the start, but once I figured it out, it was really easy. PEAK!
Great game, couldn't stop playing! I like the different upgrades, makes the game feel more finished.
Love the visuals and feedback with the camera shake and sounds. Felt really good to play!
Great game, really addictive, and the 2D feeling with the camera shake and movement is fantastic.
As soon as I read the rules I knew this could be a cool idea!! I think the biggest thing that was missing is some skills that let you do something different, like merge to numbers to sum them or +1/-1 to a number as getting unlucky can just end things (and the background to the skill descriptions not being opaque). So much potential behind this idea!!!
thanks! i originally wanted to polish more things last hour, but i just couldnt stay awake to test for bugs and didnt want to risk it since im still a beginner, uh also the background to the skill description thing was the default tooltip background for godot, since again im a beginner i dont know how to change it. appreciate the feedback tho, ill use this for future games!
If you want to polish UI elements with how they look, look into theme / theme override and using styleboxes (styleboxflat is the nicest to start with :) )
I struggled to realise you could discard more than one card per discard in Balatro and I struggled with it here too. XD I found the scoring very harsh, if you don't roll a 6 or 9 you're basically screwed - maybe the basic numbers should add at least some part of their value to be multiplied? But it's a cool concept and you put in some really interesting upgrades!
Metagame cog 26/125
thank you! ill take your feedback and try to implement it in this last moment before files are locked.
also gl with metagame lol, ive always wanted to 100% it since yesterday but procrastinated, ill try it later after i get enough rest (after i upload another build probably).
edit: hi, i wont upload another build ive decided, im too tired for ts.
A ton juice here! I loved this a lot! The only thing is that there were a ton of visual errors when trying to play (cant see numbers, cant see what I'm choosing etc). Also the shop system was great.
thank you, the game was definitely more of a visuals showcase rather than gameplay!
This game has a lot of juice, but I struggled to understand the scoring system.
pretty good game but I want to know how it follows the theme?
my thought was rapid flipping = spinning lol
