How really cool gameplay, I use GODOT a lot, I have no clue how you pulled this off. One of the best games in the jam.

Very nice visuals and satisfying physics. In the first level I got stuck at the whirlpool just before the gator and it's only out of pure luck that I was able to escape and make it to the exit. Because of this, I believe rebalancing some parameters could help give the player better control.

I would also recommend that instead of pressing some buttons for levels 1, 2, and 3, we are just taken to the next level after completing the previous one.

Jumping on the hippos was very satisfying! I hope you make more levels. Overall, nice game.

The visuals are cute and I love the idea of a physics-based river rapids game, but sadly I struggled to get any momentum back after I got too close to the whirlpools - even if I got the frog to successfully stick their tongue to something, I couldn't escape and just ended up stuck! Was I missing something?

I think there needs to be an easier level first, maybe a wider river as well?

Fun game! I love the art and goofy frog music. And the little ribbit sounds they make. Using the tongue to swing around feels great.

I’m struggling to finish any of the levels though: The 1st and 2nd levels don’t have much time between grabs, so I haven’t been able to get further than the first flag in each. I keep running out of momentum in the last level, and am unsure how to get through that one. Going left always results in me running out of momentum and stopping between the whirlpools, but going right gets me stuck bouncing around the middle of the big one.

Note: I’m running this through Proton on Linux, so maybe it’s just a compatibility issue making the speed wonky for me.

Bugs:

  • I noticed that the reset doesn’t use up a life. Only really relevant in the third level, but it means I could keep trying the left path without punishment. I honestly kinda liked being able to keep trying without a game over though. I would quite enjoy this game without lives and instead with a time based score system.
  • The tongue chargeup sound keeps playing after death (unless you get a game over). It resets only when you start charging up the tongue again.
