★late submissions: you will have a 24 hour window after the deadline to fix last minute bugs and modify your game's page. after this, files are locked

Sorry if this has been covered before. So, does this mean you can update your game until June 28th 2026 at 1:59 AM? Are there any restrictions on what changes you can make on the 27th after 2AM? Is it only bug fixes and non-gameplay related features or are you still allowed to put in stretch goals and nice to have items during that period? Or... is the 27th at 2AM ALREADY 24 hours after submission? Cany you only submit after that time if you've already submitted? I don't want to be late >.<

I have the same question

So, you can still update your game and your itch page for 24 hours after the deadline. I think this window is mainly meant for last minute bug fixes and polishing your game page. Since the rating phase starts right away (as far as I know), it gives you a chance to quickly fix any issues that people point out. You can technically add more features, but I'm pretty sure it goes against the spirit of the grace period.

The one think I know for sure is that if you submit early, you can still update your page and change your game files. I was afraid that once I submitted my project that my files would be locked with whatever I had at the moment, so I put out a post asking about it and I the answer I got was that you are allowed to keep updating your game after submission. Personally, I think it might be best to submit your project once you have something you are happy with and then update from there, just in case itch has issues near the deadline. I've heard stories of big jams (like GMTK) causing itch to slow down or crash, and people who waited until the last minute couldn't submit. I think they gave a grace period for submissions too, but i'm not totally sure.

Please take all my advice with a grain of salt. This is my first jam, and this is just my understanding on the problem, and I could be completely wrong.

Hope this helps!

Uh, I submitted to make sure I was in but I don't see a way to do so. It says there are no projects on your account you can submit to this Jam... Did I just lock myself at a Beta release and miss out on tomorrow?

You don't need to resubmit each time you make an update. It should automatically do it for you since what the submission button does is give the host information about your game and link the page. As long as your game page works, your submission should too!

Oh good. I was rather nervous. Thank you! Just the Ham I needed in my emergency!

Haha! It's really nerve wracking, especially as its nearing the end of the jam. I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your game! And don't be afraid to ask any more questions! I am just the ham to ask in emergencies lol.

So, when do ratings start? Sorry if these are silly questions. I'm not seeing answers as clear as I'd like in other posts.

Submitted(+1)

No! They are definitely not silly questions. You should never feel bad about asking for clarification. It's always better ask then get it wrong!

On my submission page I have this text:

The submission period of this jam has not ended yet. Rating opens Saturday at 1:59 AM. Others who have entered the jam will be able to rate your entry.

My understanding is: Up until Saturday at 1:59 AM anyone is allowed to submit a new game to the jam.  After that time, no new submissions are allowed, but existing submissions can update their game page and files for up to 24 hours after Saturday at 1:59 AM.

Oh, that sounds rather like what I was hoping for. One more day to clean things up, then a time period to add in non-gameplay changes like audio balancing, code refactoring, maybe volume control sliders and stuff.

I'm very glad I could help!

By the way, is this your first game or game jam too? I played your game, and it is really fun! The silly trials made me laugh and it feels really nice. You should be proud of it! I look forward to seeing your final game when ratings open!

First game I've had the chance to publish. First game jam. I appreciate your kind words. I had a good team to help with the audio. It wouldn't be quite what it is without them. A big shoutout to Hertzlike for the audio and to all my voice over artists.

Is there a way to submit late?

Submitted

From what I'm reading you had to have already submitted to be able to update your game at this point. Even then it's supposed to already have it's complete gameplay and just be bugfixes and such.

So yesterday I attempted to submit my team’s game. Today I realized I submitted the wrong game and removed it. It is now too late to submit the correct game. Is there any hope for us?

Yeah, that sucks. I had a roughly similar incident myself

If you already have a submission can't you upload the new files and use the same submission location with the proper code? I think that's what the day of leeway is for.

Unfortunately not that I know of, as I completely removed the submission from the jam.

I'm sorry it ended up so off. Up to post your game anyways and show people what you made?
