This game is so good!!! The art, gameplay and audio are really great. A super serious roguelike and an awersome submission!

That was good! Art and animation was super clean and the gameplay loop was simple enough to understand.

I will say though that the tutorial guy while very funny was for this game also unnecessary because the UI was intuitive enough by itself, which is a sign of great game design by the way! I understood how to play right away after just looking at the screen!

I did have it a couple times where I rightclicked and several times I just ended up landing on the same 2 empty slots :P I assume it's fully random how it spins?

Great game! Good job!

Really cool game! The tutorial is cool although he's taking 2 minutes to say something he could've said in 2 seconds lol. I love the juicy UI animations, although some of them don't have sound effects. The UI is too big and blocks the player's vision quite often. The shop is buggy, sometimes items are invisible and sometimes it automatically buys something that you haven't clicked (I believe this happened when I refreshed the shop while the purchase animations were still going). Also, the boss attacks are pretty much impossible to avoid - the gap between the gigantic bullets only grows big enough for the player to pass through when they reach the corner of the map.

Tip for godot web builds: Show all your particles at the start of the game in the main menu (they can be hidden behind a colorrect or something). This gets rid of the freeze that otherwise happens mid-game when particles are shown for the first time.

Music is peak and your game page is the best one I've seen!

It’s PEAK bro,, The quality is just incredibly high—the music, the artwork, everything. Did you really create all of this solo? You might just win this game jam. As for feedback: the tutorial bro section dragged on a bit, so I’d love for that to be shorter and more concise! (Maybe adding some visuals would make it easier to follow) Anyway, this is PEAK GAME. How did I not discover this sooner?

Really interesting game! Sadly I don't know what I picked up or what happened to my run, but I got to this point where there were numbers on my bullets and I kept shooting the boss and all it looked like was that my bullets healed him instead of dealing damage. It might also have to do with the fact that I bought some items by accident since when the round ends and im still clicking to shoot enemies, the game doesn't wait for the transition to end, so I end up clicking items in the shop before I can even see them; as for the bullets, maybe there was some mechanic I skipped over in the tutorial? (since it dragged on for so long I just skipped it, since I thought the game was rather self explanatory).

I also find it really punishing that the red / blood bullets don't even shoot out a projectile, they just damage you and help in no way. I understand that they are supposed to be bad for you, but the fact there is a timer during each round means you don't really have the time to spare to look at your chamber and spin it to miss them, and I was already taking damage from enemies hitting me since instead of looking at them I was looking at my chamber trying to dodge the bad bullets. there is an opportunity for the player to play it risky and use the bullets that actively harm them. I also think the enemies shouldn't be falling from the sky as a spawning animation, as that also threw me off a lot since they are fully visible and I thought they were already spawned in, so I ended up shooting them as well, wasting time.

Halfway through the rounds I just gave up looking at the chamber and spinning it since the damage I took from the bad bullets wasn't as high as the damage from the enemies hitting me and killing them healed me so I just put all my focus on actually shooting the enemies, and I could mostly ignore the bad bullets after a while since I bought plenty of normal ones that made the bad bullet's chance much lower than at the start.

There's a lot of potential in future updates to this game, I hope you'll keep working on it!

Developer

yeah i think it was because you were using masochist which doesnt have a limit on how much it buffs / retracts so it just made it heal lol. Whoops :P There also def need to be some balance changes with the red bullets and more ways to get rid of them (maybe i think the 2 i have in the game for that work pretty well) Thanks so much for checking it out though!

THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!! I love everything about this, this is so so so well made, I love the art, I love the music, and I love that this is so Ultrakill too! I cannot believe you really made this in 7 days

Edit: The leeches are a bit OP, I kinda cheesed the final boss with them

Developer (1 edit)

Yooo thanks so much! Leeches really need a nerf lol

Very solid game! I liked the gameplay loop and tutorial was very funny (if a bit long)!   It's impressive you were able to make so much content for the game in only 7 days! My only gripe is   I didn't find the shuffling mechanic very useful, as it  would very rarely put me  into a good place. Maybe a better alternative would be spin to the next chamber without actually shooting the current bullet's chamber? Though maybe that breaks the balance. Either way, great job!

This might just be my favorite entry in the jam. It's so well made and so fun. 5 stars across the board my guy. I wish every game had a tutorial like that.

Really cool game! I liked the artstyle and the roguelike aspect of it is really cool. Really nice that you were able to make so many different items in such a short time! To me it was a bit easier than I expected especially since you don't need to clear all enemies to finish a wave, but it's a good game overall :D

Super cool game! The visuals blew me off! A lot of different enemies with their own animations. Animations! Visually the game is so well polished. It's beautiful and very fitting the game vibes. Nice music and sound effects too juice up the game. My only issue is that the intro i soo loong. I wanted to play but had to do nothing and wait. Beside that this is definitely in the top 5 of this jam! Great job.

TUTORIAL LARRY MY BELOVED.

I actually found this game on Newgrounds first, and came here once I realized it was made in the same jam I was just in! I got a good laugh on call with a friend while playing this. Well done.

Developer(+1)

Oh awesome! The game is actually going kinda crazy over there so that is expected lol. Glad you enjoyed!

Very high quality! The visuals and music are incredible

My only gripe is the main gameplay mechanic, don't get me wrong, it's not bad at all, but it is flawed in a way where I have to constantly look at the bottom right of my screen to keep track of what bullets I have in my chamber, which becomes increasingly harder to deal with later enemies, but primarily the boss's attack patterns

It would be impossible for me to be the only revolver-based game in the jam hahahaha. Nice work, there is a lot personality in this project

The art, the animation, the audio, soundtrack, all amazing. Really well made. The gameplay loop is simple but it has a lot of decision that should be made quickly, wich can be challenging but rewarding. Extremely well polished, this is a game that hast total potential to be a full release with a few more steps. Great work!

I really like this game!! The art and animation feel super polished and funny! The guy talking is really funny as well, but I did find him to be talking for a bit too long in the tutorial, and personally I think having subtitles will help clarify what he's saying.

Very serious game!!

Very Newgrounds, 10/10!!

This is really impressive! Completely blew my version of the "spinning cylinder" idea out of the water haha! This is the best game from this jam I've played so far!

Seriously what a solid experience. The tutorial was hilarious to listen to even if it dragged on, which is high praise! The visuals and game juice and mechanics and animations were all extremely polished. The game just oozes with personality, that’s quite the achievement!

I unfortunately sucked at it, but that’s a skill issue. I had fun with it and it feels like something you can really sink your teeth into in terms of builds/loadouts.

Congrats on the submission!

Awesome game, super addictive with real great game design

it's definitly one of the most amazing bullet hells of the jam

i will say that it gets a little repetitive towards the end, so maybe putting the devil a bit earlier (like wave 13, it's on theme too) would be good

that said this is an amazing game with great audio, visuals and gameplay

This game is SOOOO COOOL. I love the different bullets and the art style is amazing. The UI is so well made. Tutorial guy is so fun, id just suggest he gets to the point so I can play.
