This is a neat idea, though a bit lacking to me. There seems to be no real downside to me just clicking the yoyo the second it touches the rope. I get a low amount of points, yes, but I'm still getting points. I'm not really incentivized to go lower as I'll get a high score just by clicking repeatedly. I think a way to get the player to engage more with the distance part is making a minimum distance that you have to go on the rope before you can score any points (Maybe about a third of the way down or so) and since you're already having to sink that low to get points, you may as well see how far you can go to get even more. Another option is having a timer for how long a round of scoring goes, making you have to make every throw count to really maximize your score.
Anyways, that's enough of me rambling. Those are just some ideas for thought. You did good here and this idea has some promise. Great work!
Yes, the fact that theres no real loose condition was the main thing i could not figure out how to fix while also incentivicing the player to still go lower. The idea with the timer is a good point (crazy that i didn't think of that during the jam myself), and also maybe a min score to reach in that time, maybe even rougelikeish, but we'll see how far i'll take this project. Anyway, thanks for the feedback!
simple and easy to understand gameplay, kinda reminds me one of the microgames in GBA warioware, there is one that you could bounce a mini man up to reach a height to score, also another one to move sth left-and-right to catch the up-and-down bouncing man(not quite remember if they are in a same microgame?) check out warioware if you find interesting, and in terms of the visual, if you'd like to show the yoyo movement on y it might looks better if you could make the background pattern horizontal. but anyway, well done! please keep on!
Yeah, the wario ware games were the main inspiration behind this. The horizontal background idea is a good point, i'll have to see how it looks, thanks you!
the game is neat. i do wish there was more to do although im guessing the time constraints was the main problem. but no bugs and doing the art yourself is really nice
Fun, well-themed, a bit on the lighter side but otherwise creative and enjoyable.
The game idea is great and it can be fun, the only thing is that it doesn't quite fit the jam's theme, but overall the game is good.
