I'm a sucker for gameboy style artstyle. I'm also shocked how polished it is for a jam game. Great job!

Next time, please try to have a Linux export! You don't have to do anything other than exporting for Linux in Godot.

Developer

Thanks so much for your comment! And yes for sure will export for both the web and linux (as i would like to run it on my steam deck too)

I love the artstyle and the 1-bit art! Super fun game idea and executed super well with lots of polish!! Fire game, and super unique concept!! It's super fun blowing leaves around!

Developer

Thanks so much for taking the time to play and the comments!

Took some time to clear the first jump xD

Definitely one of the funniest idea, it's so absurd to blow leaf as a goal of the game :D

I didn't feel like there was spinning, but apart from that i don't really have any more complaints

Developer(+1)

Thanks for taking the time to play! I kinda cheated a little by putting in a "spinning" cursor instead to show the fan is blowing lol :p

Cool and easy to understand game. Pretty fun to play for a while and try to survive as long as you can. Very well done visuals and music. Well done!

Thanks for the comments!

I really liked it good music, a consistent art style. The only thing is that you can occasionally take double damage from falling items if they bounce right.

Developer

Oh I'll have a look at that. Thanks for commenting and playing!

This was really fun!  The music is a serious bop, the gameplay is easy to pick up (although I did fall in that little hole immediately on my first couple of runs because the old man is not great at jumping), and the graphics are really nice and coherent.  I do think the game could do a slightly better job of communicating what the goal is / how you score, but I think it's pretty straightforward to figure out anyway (once you turn the fan on, the leaves start fluttering, which cues you in).

Great jam entry.  I had a blast with it.  Kudos!

Developer

Thanks for your nice comments! and yes for sure will add something to address that :)

This was so cool and cute! The game looks really polished and it delivers on the fun! the controls felt good, nothing weird happened with the physics. I had a blast, you did a fantastic job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it :)

I think the game was  cute and it was a nice concept! But I wasn't sure what to do in the beginning, since the game doesnt actually tell you you're supposed to clean the leaves off the roof haha. I thought I was just supposed to survive, but then I read in your itch page description what to do. I also think it was a little evil that you can just fall off the roof and end your run, because I saw the powerup, walked over there and did a mini-jump into the gap between the powerup and roof and died, poor old man haha. Either way as you said, cute lil arcade game!

Developer

Lol ya a little more instructions should have been put in, totally agree ... and yes that gap was intended :) Thanks for playing though!

Really fun game. Really polished. Only suggestions, maybe a pop-up menu when you die, so you don't have to press escape to bring up the menu. Would also be good to have it as a html playable game with the option to download. Good job.

Developer

Thanks for the playing and the inputs! Yes in hindsight should've implemented the auto pop up. And I didn't actually find out about HTML until past the submission date.

Thanks for trying it out!

I love the Gameboy art style! It's so cute! The gameplay is fun and simple, and the sound effects are great. I played this game a lot more than I planned to, so that means I had fun haha. As your first public game on Itch.io, it's really good!

Developer

Thanks again!

Visuals are just perfect, music is great too. But its a little unclear as to what youre supposed to do and what damages. I find the (that can!) in the tittle really sweet.

Thanks for playing!

This was a nice enjoyable little experience. The difficulty does ramp up a little fast and can be a bit rough since the first power up doesn't come until the music does its first loop, but it ain't too bad. Running around blowing stuff is pretty fun regardless, so I didn't mind too much playing for about a minute minimum each time. Everything looks well put together and blends well, all the sound effects are very cartoonish and satisfying, the music is very energetic and just really adds to the old school aesthetic, and it really is that kind of game where you wanna sit down with a little console in your hand in a nice comfy chair to try and rack up a bigger score as you wind down for the night. Honestly, really good work here. I quite enjoyed this game.

Developer

Thanks for your time and kind comments! Happy to see you enjoyed it :)

An Old Man with a fan is a lovely homage to the gameboy colour days of simple, effective gameplay with lovely visuals and a rocking background track. The game is polished, feels good to play, and has what appears to be scaling difficulty for endless replaybility. Love the concept, love the execution!

A couple (hopefully) constructive criticisms:

-I would love to scale up the gameplay window a bit. If you're worried about the integrity of the pixel art, integer scaling the project settings should solve that, as well as forcing the aspect ratio.

-A highscore tracker would be lovely! Maybe in the top left?

-A quick retry button on a gameover would be lovely. In godot you can reload the scene for a replay in likely the same way you did to boot it on the title screen.

-I'd love to be able to return to the title screen after a gameover  to review the credits :)

Overall a lovely little game, everyone should give this one a go! Good job to all of you on the team! :)
