This is a really fun game! I loved the visuals, but I feel like the spin mechanic could have been more present. I wish there was more of a reason to move around the entire arena as I just stayed in one spot spamming my shield recharge and shooting the boss. This was a really fun game though! Great job!
Was not expecting to see a souls like in a jam but am pleasantly surprised! amazing to see a larger team have a coherent product with the music, visuals and mechanics working well together!
Thank you for the kind words! Happy to hear you enjoyed it :)
It looks so cool!
Thank you!
First of all, the game has good visual design. The environment is sparse, but the boss's appearance is great!
The combat feels nice, but it gets tiring over time. Because the environment is empty, there’s no reason or opportunity to maneuver. The boss just tanks your hits, so you end up just spam-clicking LMB.
The spin mechanic is very interesting, but it lacks depth. At the same time, there’s no point in thinking about where best to use it, yet you can also go through the entire boss fight without using it at all and not even realize it existed. Also, sometimes there’s simply no way to avoid taking damage in the game. Yes, this is compensated by the shield, but right now it feels like a game design crutch rather than a thoughtful solution to the problem.
It would be great if the boss had more varied attacks, as well as the ability to defend, and if the player had a more interesting environment and mechanics that encourage analyzing the situation.
Despite my criticism, I enjoyed the game. I can see the effort, and I really hope the developer makes more games like this and even better! I’d recommend expanding the visual style - it looks interesting against the modern backdrop.
And if you decide to develop this game further or make something similar, add other special spells. You’ll no longer be bound by the jam’s theme, and the idea of “jump in a certain way” to trigger a special spell is really cool!
Hey I appreciate the very thoughtful feedback! This is all worth knowing, and it’ll definitely be taken into consideration in the future. I agree, there’s absolutely more room for depth, which is something to aim for outside of a single encounter like this. Thank you for playing :)
Pretty difficult, but also pretty fun! Didn't expect it to be just a boss battle lol. The theme could've been more implemented I think. Also, love the ending lol.
Thank you for playing!
I'd say the difficulty was just right. I was able to adapt as the attacks got harder and harder (love the fact that there are many different attacks, i think there were 5?). I'd make the abilities/controls appear mid-fight rather than show ALL OF THEM at the very beginning. I really, REALLY liked this game!!
Hey, that’s awesome that you enjoyed the game so much. And that’s great feedback, I can definitely see how the control presentation could have been done differently!
Very impressive 3D game for a game jam! It was fun to play and the concept of having one big boss fight was nice. The theme could have been a little bit more present, but other than that great game!
Thank you for playing! Glad you thought it was fun :)
I found it quite funny that the final boss was slightly to the left of the game instructions :D
Cool little game and I liked the visuals! It felt a little bit floaty but it added to the challenge which was cool. Nice submission!
Lol, that is a bit funny in retrospect. Thank you for playing:)
The controls are a little bit clunky and some moves of the boss seem a bit hard to dodge, I got cornered a few times…
I also don’t really see how this fits the theme tho, you have the spin move but otherwise it’s not really present.
The game itself is solid tho :D
Hey, sorry if it wasn’t quite there for you, but I appreciate you playing regardless. Thank you!
Nice game, I like the visuals
Thank you for playing!
Nice and fun fight. I woudn't say the fight was that hard, since the moves don't come out of nowhere, so you can dotch them pretty well.
Thank you for playing! Happy you enjoyed it :)
I love how this is 3D, the boss was a bit too hard (or it's just me having a skill issue). the theme implementation is kinda not present tho (I get that the player must spin in order to dodge the boss attacks, but other than that there's no other spinning stuff). but overall good game!
Hey thanks for playing! Balance seems to be the biggest sticking point for our game, so I’m sorry if it was ever frustrating. Appreciate the feedback!
The boss is a bit too hard to defeat, but I really enjoyed its attacks and the variety of attack patterns.
Thank you for playing, hopefully the game wasn’t ever too frustrating!
that quality for 3d game in a jam is pretty good, the boss soo hard, btw, tcheck my game too (plz :)
Thank you, and I will!
Game of the year!
- My experience got put down a bit by the snow storm thing being all around me and killing me at one point.
- I dont think the theme had a strong presence with only having spin to boost damage, maybe could have had some more spinning mechanics for the player in some way to make you need to spin perhaps haha
- And the biggest thing, my mouse input was kinda weird, it was fine if I moved the mouse a lot, but if I stopped moving it, and tried moving it a small amount it kinda glitched and didnt register my mouse moving.
Other than that, I think you have something great going on and should totally keep updating it post jam!
The mechanics were cool and I liked the telegraphing of the moves
Great feedback, thank you! Hopefully it wasn’t too frustrating. I’m curious what exactly was going on with the mouse, so I know how to avoid that in the future.
I love the gameplay, reminds me a bit of the type of fights you do in mmorpgs. Every attack was telegraphed well, so you're not getting hit out of nowhere. I think the theme implementation could be stronger, spinning is completely optional. Even if it does take you longer if you don't spin.
Thank you for playing! And you’re definitely not the only one feeling that way on the theme. Glad you enjoyed the game still :)
Your team really cooked with this one. I love the spinning in the air mechanic, reminds me of 360 noscoping haha. First time playing a boss fight in a game jam too, pretty epic stuff
Thanks so much! Happy you enjoyed it :)
This was epic
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
I like these models! I'm not sure what it has to do with spinning other than the enemy being a Cyclone
Thanks! I put in a feature to deal extra damage by spinning your character :)
That was a fun well designed fight! Barely managed to live near the end after getting greedy with my ultimate. Would be very interesting to see this character and the world expanded on if the boss fights would be just like this!
Thank you for playing! A full game is definitely in consideration
