really love the art style of the main character and the general premise of the game!! i thought it was going to be chill so i kind of panicked near the middle LOL but that was probably my fault. this was a cool mechanic though it might be nice to relax the main mechanic at times and have some other minigame to do in sections for some added stimulation. really liked this
thank you so much!! I actually originally had some quick-time minigames planned and in place at one point during dev, but it was so stressful on top of management I had to cut it lol. maybe some chiller minigames would work better. I'm glad you liked it ^^
Thanks for the info dump! I understood too late I had the time to read it, but it really added to the game.
The regularity of the experience made it really chill.
If you wanted to add a little bit more rhythm and challenge, you could try one or two things:
- add a cooldown (and charges maybe) to coolant liquid
- make that accelerating means an instant boost of heat
- have chill moments where you can nearly do nothing (and you can info dump even more!) and have some short moments where you have to really well use your resources, and where instead of lore, you have your "check your rpm gauge" etc
On another note, to ease reading, is it possible in your engine to, instead of displaying at a fixed rate the characters, making them visible at this fixed rate? That way, all your text is already there, and you don't have words jumping between lines.
Nice visuals! Good job making this game
thank you for playing and for your feedback!! I was planning on adding those features but ran out of time. if I remake the game, I'll add them for sure! I coded the typing effect myself (this game is only HTML, CSS, JS) so that could possibly work in another version. I'm still working on preloading text and have been improving :) thanks again !!
This game is really well-made. I love the visuals specially your art style. It's also a nice touch to have someone do geography lessons while you're drilling through China; kinda remind me of geography class last high school. I think this game needed more juice specially in audio like something that would encourage the players to keep going more like a checkpoint mark that would play or show something pleasant when it's reached; just a suggestion. Overall, I love this game and has a lot of potential! Good job and congratulations!
thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and for playing it! good job to you too! I agree about the audio, I intended to add many more sound effects but ran out of time :( I hope the next game will be better and I'll continue to improve ^^
As others said reading the text was a bit hard but still this is such a cool idea for a game and for the theme of the jam. I really like the graphics and the short story and the gameplay was fun :D
thank you so much!! I'm happy you enjoyed it :) I guess I didn't realize how fast I read compared to others until I made this game lol
I got impatient and tried to up my spin rate to see if I could get to the other side faster, turns out the hull really wasn't up for the challenge. Still I feel I have nobody to blame but myself.
As the other guy mentioned, it was hard to read the text while I was (mostly) trying not to die down there.
thanks for playing!! I hope it was fun :)
Really cute illustrations!
thank you so much!!
awesome game, one of the only games i've played so far that kept me playing it over and over again. The only big issue was that I didn’t often have the time to read all the dialogue by the character.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
