Really fun! Also love the concept of it, a dog being a DJ is very whimsical xd. I do wish that there were more songs to play, or that the game would introduce new mechanics (like quicker timed notes and all that stuff) but nevertheless was still incredibly enjoyable!
Fun game! As someone who has to model and rig a lot for their games, learning that in one week is very impressive! My one complaint with this game is that I think it's easy to loose the right arrow as it's off to the side and fairly dark, but that could just be me. Good work!
Also, did you make the music?
Very neat rhythm game, which is a surprise to see in game jams I do feel like the timing of the notes were too strict. Also nice job with rigging 3D models, that's no easy feat. Good job!
Seriously good job! I think the difficulty and key hit timing was actually very well done. Learning 3D rigging (as I know what a pain that can be x,D) for it too is incredibly impressive! I hope you'll continue to make awesome stuff and have a ton of fun in the process!
Don’t know if I am too tired or if the sudden change in the camera hurt my eyes, as I am interested in the scene and trying to keep up with the arrows. I thought it was awesome that you’re a dog DJ and you’re DJing for a dog club.
The character looked like one of those Animal Crossing characters, and well done with the modelling, texturing and rigging!
Well done dogeased! 🐶🕺🪩
I really enjoyed this! The dog models are adorable and their reaction to when I didn't do well made me burst out laughing as I played (and thus, continue to do poorly). Thankfully, I played a few more times, got the hang of it, and managed to give the crowd a good show! ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ
Also, the first comment you received seems really unnecessarily rude, I hope you don't take it to heart <3
Nice to see another rhythm game 😁
The 3d graphics and audience are awesome! That Dog DJ has some swag for sure.
Some small nitpicks:
Music restarts when you click play, and then again when the actual song starts. That's a little too much restarting haha. If you want an easy variation just for the menu song you could've just used the same song with a low pass filter for instance.
I think any rhythm game needs an offset adjustment if you have player inputs determining accuracy.
I needed to hit quite early (listening to the music) for it to count it as perfect instead of late. Since you don't have any hit sounds there is 0 negatives in having an offset control!
That plain white text "Spin To Win" didn't really fit the visuals. Everything else was nicely stylized so just having white text on a basic font makes it look inconsistent and unprofessional.
Also I found a small bug. When you restart by losing (or from refreshing the page??) there's some double notes that shouldn't be there.
I didn't find that the chart expressed the music as well as it could've. Of course it's on beat but it doesn't clearly represent some aspect of the music. (Like follow the lead melody, bass or drums for instance)
I will say that song is so repetitive that it would be hard to make a good chart for it. (It's possible though you could have one pattern for the bass line and one for melody and do variations on them when they're together etc.)
I think you were very ambitious learning 3d modelling and making it a rhythm game in the same week.
Overall great job! Hope you do well in the jam 😎
I don't really get the comments given here, I think the game is plenty forgiving, I would very often have an arrow halfway out of its goal-point and would still get a perfect hit, maybe its a difference between the computers/monitors we're playing it on, like a refresh rate issue or an fps issue, but the game wasn't really that unforgiving for me.
My only real critique for a game jam game is I would have liked it to follow the theme just a little more, maybe on the left side you could spin a record at the right moment with your mouse/keybind to get a critical success or something for way more points. I also would have liked to be able to see my score while I was playing rather than at the end.
Overall I think the game is alright for a jam game, it set out what it planned to do and executed it.
Great game! I love the dog models, they’re so darn adorable! But as an AVID fan of DDR games, this was sooo unforgiving and that made me kinda sad :(
these dogs are awesome! 😎
super tight input timings, right on beat :)
You have to be really really precise when doing an input. The visuals are nice but I wish there was a song that was playing synced to the arrows. Overall it is decent! Good job. Also about the previous, if this was pre made template then it hurts my opinion a little bit but hey, if there isn't any time you gotta do what you gotta do. Also the concept isn't really creative. Good luck!
I found the previous comment a little baffling. To the degree I assume I'm missing something. Like this is a well known template or something and you've literally done nothing. I don't know that so I'll assume its not a template and it's mostly your own work. If so then the skills used seem pretty competent to me .Modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting. I'd be pretty happy with it. I would probably assume you got the music from somewhere which would be perfectly fine. Lacks menus and finesse stuff but if you did most of what's seen it's a great effort! As an entry I'd say the base game is very decent and something to be proud of! Well done!
