We had the exact same idea, and this is really good for a first game!

This was a really cool puzzle platformer.  I really liked the sprite for the top and the music, especially the later levels.

My only real suggestion is I wish the spikes were more menacing - they looked like Crayola crayons and I didn't realize they were a hazard at first.

For what it's worth I had no issues with motion sickness or dizziness.

Developer

thank you for the feedback,  and yeah i can definitely see where youre coming from with the spikes, my friend originally designed the sprite to look like the cones from a random image of a toy room we found on google for level geometry, and then we repurposed it for the spike later when building levels.

anyway glad to hear you didnt experience motion sickness

I'm not gonna lie this game gave me some pretty bad motion sickness. The concept is pretty fun and enjoyable once you get the hang of it, but it was a struggle. It's mostly the first world. Admittedly the more muted tones of world two did not make me feel as woozy, but the spin speed still feels a bit fast.

Developer

thank you for playing, and yeah we really should've done better playtesting as ive heard a few people point this out. both me and the other developer dont really get motion sick so we forgot to factor it in, but in hindsight we really shouldve made the spin speed slower and more linear as well as maybe adding a vignette on the corners. thanks for the feedback though

this is so good!! the visuals are so fun and the mechanic is really cool

it was a little finnicky at times but its cool that the spin isnt one set speed, def some other things that could have been ironed out with more time like the collisions but its a really good base!

Developer

thank you for the feedback, good to hear you liked the visuals  and spinning. and yeah you are right, the janky collisions (getting stuck on slopes, etc) is something we were aware of but didnt have time to fix in time

It makes me dizzy

Submitted(+1)

Honestly made me incredibly dizzy, still worth it though as you explored the mechanics quite a bit!

Developer

thanks for the feedback, yeah i can definitely see where you're coming from with dizziness lol

Great game! The concept is cool. Sometimes it gets a bit confusing when you’re upside down, but other than that, it’s really clean and really cool.

Developer

thanks a lot, yeah ive heard a few people felt the movement was a bit motion sickening or confusing

really loved it ! its well made polished and loved the art so much but i think its hard and bit fast but overall loved it

The spinning should be slower, but I think that's all due to your time running out. Better luck next time!

Developer(+1)

thanks for the feedback, your game looks absolutely nuts

Submitted(+1)

I’m sorry you had trouble finishing the game because your pixel art and music is really good! As for the gameplay, the controls were far too sensitive for me, I didn’t feel like I had much control half the time. The spinner can get stuck to walls and in corners too. You have the start of something really cool here though, well done yall!

And seriously, this music is great ^^

Developer

thanks about the music, the art is definitely the stronger part of the game, thanks for the feedback. i agree, I would make the movement smoother but didnt have time to redo movement in time

Enjoyment:
I had some fun with the level of difficulty, but I was kind of glad there was only one level because I was starting to feel a little motion sick. I think the spin's stopping and starting should be a little more immediately reactive to the actual input instead of having momentum-based rotation.

Creativity & Theme:
I think the theme is used in a way that I didn't expect, and it's baked into the core of the gameplay which is great.

Visuals:
I really like the little door opening animation at the beginning. I also like the animation for the spinning top. And the random metal orbs are kind of cool looking. Everything else is a little unclear, like the background and the thing that makes the level reset.

Audio:
There was pretty much no audio aside from the falling sound in the only finished level of the game, but the song that plays after you get to the part that says "the rest of the game is unfinished" is really cool. I wish it were playing at the start of the game.

Seriousness:
Very serious lol

Developer

thanks for the very detailed response and feedback
