Pretty fun! I like the arena variety a lot, and weighing your options between matches adds an interesting element of strategy to it.
I do feel like the best strategy in FFA rounds is to run away and let everyone else duke it out. It's a tricky problem to solve. I can't present a perfect solution to this, but anything that directly rewards you for getting in and landing hits would be nice.
Collision is a little janky at times but it's not too bad.
Oh, and the camera is rough when you're directly below it. I haven't made a 3D game before, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think it would work better if it also moved its position around to prevent this from happening, rather than only rotating.
If you plan on making a post-jam version, a PvP mode where you play a few rounds and get the same map/stat choices between rounds would be pretty awesome tbh...
Really fun! I've always wanted to play a game that reminds me of Beyblade, and yours definitely did. It brought back memories of playing the PS1 game, which made it even more enjoyable. Congratulations!
Oh damn this was SO fun, it was pretty hard to understand what makes you go slower and the controls are a lil messy buit is SO good it doesnt matter
Haha I LOVE the voiceacting, always fun when people have that in their game, instant 5/5 audio. I really liked that you got to control your own spinner and not only dependent on luck, and it was extra fun that you started with a dash as well! I do think the arena choices could have been a bit more interesting, because a couple times I got options where 1 was obviously better than the others (-1 stat instead of 2 for example), but other than that I think it's a fun concept! Maybe that could be balanced by having harder challenges if you pick one with better upgrades? Maybe that was already the case and I'm just stupid, sorry if thats the case!!!! I also put all my points in power once, and couldnt even make it up the map that's like a little mountain, so I was just cruising around the bottom hoping the others would spin off haha, maybe I was a little tooooo slow. But good job making this game in less than a week!
This is pretty fun! I love the gameplay and even though its simple, its quite engaging! Its very reminiscent to how beyblade is and its pretty awesome! I would say a beyblade game is fairly common in the game jam in terms of creativity. The visuals are good but it does need a bit more polish on the models to make it look much more awesome! The audio is great with your epic voice acting as the game's narrator! I woudl also say its silly in a serious way as well! Overall, great work on the game! I had fun with it!
This might be the most serious legally distinct beyblade I've ever played in this jam.
This was really fun, I like the idea of investing in a fighter and having them succeed. It was hard for me to suffer a loss after customizing my beyblade for a few/several rounds. Gameplay was also solid I felt like I was getting better the more I played / grasped the mechanics. The only issue I with this was the text spin/grow-in-out effect saying Knockout/Ready/Set/etc I would have preferred no rotation probably. Outside of that, Great work.
Also f*** the mountain level, I lost like 3-4 times on that one, I know your supposed to point to the location on the object you want the top to go.. but my monkey brain kept sending my guy off the map.
Loved the voicework!
I enjoyed the pre-start spin for a boost! Very reminiscent of Mario Kart. I also liked the bouncy win text. I wasn't too sure how to get better at the game/make meaningful progress, each round felt kinda the same. But it's a cool take on the theme, love me a beyblade game!
The bayblades' physics are very well done!
Awesome game ! I have a similar idea in my brainstorming I love to see someone push the idea to production ! I love playing it and the commentary is a wonderful idea ! Really good job !
10/10 voice acting
A good game, cool audio, very polished!
really fun! your voice adds a lot to the game
i also thought of making a b@yblade roguelike but after some careful consideration decided against it
oh, and i got a Slayblade video recommended to me the moment the submission period ended which is a pretty eerie coincidence
Cool idea and done very well. Overall great game, especially on the audio part!
A really interesting idea with a very polished design. The physics are particularly well thought out: every hit, given or received, has real weight to it. The different maps add great variety to the gameplay and encourage different approaches each time. A standout entry for this jam, nice work!
Love the music!
I'm not much of a beyblade knower but I got pretty into this. It is extremely hard and I was devastated when I lost my level 5 blade? bey? spinnyguy? but I came back and made it to level 12 or so (by setting it to easy mode, which is pure skill).
The gameplay feels good, maybe some slight weirdness with terrain collisions? I wasn't sure sometimes what had caused me to take damage or slow me or whatever, but maybe that's just how beyblades work I'm not super familiar with their physics.
I liked the concept of the upgrade system but it sometimes felt a bit too punishing instead of rewarding, like you get an offer to lose half your power, lose half your power, or lose your favourite ult etc. and I would have rather taken none. Then later on they just get to "lose all of x stat, max out y stat" which feels more like swapping build than upgrading.
Overall, very enjoyable and I played it for much longer than I was expecting going in! Great voice acting, but I already knew it would be.
I liked the concept:D
but I had issues with the audio; it sounded choppy (T_T)
Very fun!
