This game was a blast to play! There's an impressive amount of production value for a jam game you made only; I wonder how y'all solo devs do it.
For starters, the game has a very charming and cohesive visual style. The UI looks especially nice and fits with the gameplay, which is really appreciated when most jam games overlook UI. My only main visual complaint is that the faces of the enemies look quite unappealing (I think the mixed line widths and the eyebag lines aren't working all that well), but otherwise the game looks great.
Gameplay itself is also really nice. It's fun to watch yourself get more and more powerful, and initially the enemies scale up to match. Unfortunately, the game lets you get way overpowered way quick. Once you have a bajillion spins and a stat cap of 500+, the enemies just never really catch up. The reroll mechanic also starts to lose meaning when you can reroll 100 times (the screenshot below is me rerolling to try and get 1900s in every category; almost got it too).
But all in all, this is a simple, solid game that does a good job executing what it sets out to achieve. Def one of my favorites.
Very fun!
Tho i couldnt rly see where the spin aspect is. Maybe it was the stats? i was expecting smth different but overall it was still fun!
I didn't realize I was going to learn Ultra Instinct once my stats when nuts lol.
Awesome game! I love how much dumb fun can be had as your power scaled gets higher and higher, I like the "spin" to randomize stats and how it acts as a currency for your power scaling each round.
Awesome art and music, very impressed what you were able to wrangle in on your own! I like the Cyanide and Happiness style of the humans
My only complaint is once you have the ability to tune yourself into a force of nature each round, the game gets really easy, so I would like to see more difficulty as you go! Additionally, it seems to go on forever, I had my fill after round 30. I think difficulty scaling and a win condition would make this an even more satisfying game than it already is.
Wonderful job!
Pretty interesting take on the gambling mechanic for the stats! I love that there's a bit of lore as well at the start. The game kinda reminds me of those newgrounds era games I think its cos of the artstyle which is really cool! The main character kinda reminds me of ditto a lil bit as well. Overall, I had fun! Great work!
LET'S GO GAMBLIIIIIING as a TBoI fan I really love this. Getting to see the exact stats and chances to change them to better stats is very cool, my dopamine spiked whenever I got one of them big green numbers.
Slowly became a god of death and destruction, but also still just a lil guy. Great game, I just kept wanting to play and up my stats more and more. Love the style of the game, the idea, and the execution. I want a whole game built around something like this now.
3k speed goes brrr. Really cool idea, I loved getting supper overpowered to the point of being so small I couldnt see myself on the screen or getting your bullets so fast that they just flash on your screen. Simple, easy to understand and addictive gamplay loop.
This game is very fun and whimsical! Once I figured out the stat re-rolling mechanics and investing into spins for future rounds, it was very enjoyable to get really strong and defeat everyone. It was really fun to see how far you could push the stats (by the end, my character was invisibly small but the projectiles were giant orbs of death).
Some points of improvement: During combat, it would be fun to see more of the stage. I'm not too fond of mystery projectiles flying in from off screen. More enemy types would also be nice. More over, maybe ease into the round and spawn enemies further away from the player.
My first run I rolled red in all but 1 stat and died in literally half a second, one of the funniest experiences I've had playing a game jam game.
Really fun overall! My only thing is that there wasn't much in the way of permanent upgrades except for increasing stat cap, but maybe something that could lock your stat in for the next round? but this is just a nitpick. I had a lotta fun playing!
Very addicting, good job! I would suggest to make a custom pointer instead of the default one to keep track of it more easily
There was a custom cursor originally, but I don't know why it would become gigantic when playing in the browser, so I had to remove it. Thanks for playing!
This gameplay legit make me play 15+ minutes.
Few UX comments:
Great game overall, you made it smart by making the game round not too messy!
The fact that you spin your stats is a crazy idea! Love the art direction, but how dare you subject ma boy ditto to these harsh experiments!
The theme is implememnted well here (although it isn't especially spin to "WIN"). It was fun playing, but I think there should be some minimum for parameters not to get too low
I don't have much to say about this game, its really fun, like the core mechanic of everything is up to RNG
A way to spend spins to have like a minimum threshold for your stats because you can get really unlucky (I did lmao)
But I loved it :D
This was a lot of fun. The character is cute and I liked how the color changed between rounds.
Once I realized that I kept my number of spins and stat cap even if I died, I started using more of my spins to increase those two things early on. It became easy to become OP that way, because I didn't feel bad losing a round while I was increasing those things. While playing OP can be fun sometimes, it might be nice if the game was a little more balanced.
It would have been nice if the cursor was a little clearer. I sometimes had troubles following it as I moved around.
At around Round 14 (I could be off by 1 or 2) my character moved up to the top of the screen on their own, and I could not make them move down. I could still move left and right. I played to Round 17, then lost and hit play to see if that would fix it. My character still moved up and stayed at the top of the screen. I had been playing in full screen and exited out of it, then pulled full screen back up, and that's when I noticed the issue. I tried playing out of full screen, but I still had the issue. I refreshed the game page and that seemed to fix the problem. I pulled it back up into full screen, played a little, then exited fulled screen during the combat. When I went back into full screen, my character moved to the right on their own and stayed there. This time I was at Round 2, so I think the issue is not round based.
Dude, thanks a ton. Everyone kept telling me the scaling was way too OP even though I didn't think so at all but it turns out the thing with the cap and the spins remaining after death IS A BUG. I forgot to put back the reset function after running some tests, and I just completely overlooked it so thanks again! As for the second bug, honestly, I have no idea, but I’ll look into it. THX FOR PLAYING!
Really neat interpretation on the theme. The game is super well polished and plays well, I really enjoyed it! I appreciate when a game lets me break it, although in this one in particular, it might be a little too easy to completely snowball into god-status after just a few rounds.
Great job!
Creativity & theme: its gambling lol but it works pretty well and is fun ! i think i became some sort of god in round 14 because the blob dissappeared XD. it works but a cap or ceiling is needed. its kinda like a rogue lite ? but you have to reset every round which is a nice concept. overall its really creative and works well ! Visuals: theyre great. all art looked nice and also the little dark clouds looked really nice with their effect. the only thing i dont like its all very simple yet effective. it feels like a flash game which is not bad but i think the game could definitly improve even more with the art. and also i think in fights its a little too zoomed in. Audio: audio is good and clean. everything fits good to the blob and nothing feels really out of place. it has a very chill vibe and could definitly have a lot more music or sfx added at some points. i think you probably invested the least time in audio. Seriousness: you managed to pull something off here and that very well the game is fun has a great mechanic that fits the theme ! you have absolutely great art even when its simple and overall it wokrs great with no bugs i could see. that a well done game. you have a idea here which could be a lot bigger if you decide to improve the formula and make a better progression. i like it and i like becoming a unstoppable god in the game XD
Thanks a lot for playing and for giving me such a great review. I have a lot of things to rework, but yeah, scaling and SFX are the priorities. Have you worked on a game that I could play? (I like playing games made by people who leave comments.)
i just did this game jam too but our project had huge problems in development, so there is currently not a lot to show all the work we did lol. also i only did sfx but its not in the game.on my profile theres projects i was involved in doing some 3d, animations, rigging etc.
the character and environment art are expressive and easy to read, they add a lot of charm. the action and stat rolling phases are well balanced. it's fun to jump into the level with new stats every time and see how the character plays
This is awesome! The spinning genes is great and led to a very enjoyable experience.
The game is very polished, the art is cute, and its a pretty fun idea, congrats! the music its pretty repetitive tho
Yeah sorry about the music, it's the first time in my life I've tried making music and it's a disaster. Thanks for playing!
