Thanks for rating me!  I loved the premise!

Knife throwing has never been so satisfying!

Submitted(+1)

Huge points for polish and control simplicity whilst still having engaging gameplay!

Submitted(+1)

This was really fun! loved the unique take on the theme. Only thing was that it felt that the UI was a bit hard to understand, but other than that a excellent little game!

Submitted(+1)

Ohhhh, it's so polished, really well done! The music is really nice, and I think the gameplay is very very catchy.

well that got dark fast.  Seriously dark.

Hello! I've played a few runs of your game and I have some feedback for you!

  • It took me a few tried to realize the knife flies to where your mouse is pointed. I thought the camera viewfinder was an aim reticle and I was wondering why I couldn't move it.
  • All those people seem pretty happy to have knives thrown at them.
  • Sometimes my knives seemed to go through the wheel? I don't think they registered when they did, but I found it hard to focus on the wheel and the money/ratings at the same time so I'm not 100% sure.
  • Took me a few runs to realize the camera battery was your lives, and different body parts were worth different amounts.
    • Or maybe head is worth 3 but everything else is worth 1?
  • The warnings when you first load up the game are really nice to have!
  • I'm sure this game has an ending of some kind if you get to $500,000 based on the opening movie, but I did not get that far, I got to maybe like $35,000 on my best run. (I think. Again, I found it hard to focus on how much money I actually earned). I felt like I should get told on the gameover screen how much money/viewers I did get so I could compare with others.
  • I never quite figured out, is the amount of viewers you gain tied to the distance from any hitbox (like, how close you got to their arm) or the distance from center mass? And then, you gain money based on your viewer count when the person on the wheel changes?

Overall I thought this was a very interesting take on the theme! I hope my feedback didn't seem too negative, I try to leave some constructive feedback on every game I rate.

Have a wonderful day and good luck in the Jam!

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thank you for the thorough feedback! Always nice to get more than less, so we can figure out what to improve and what to avoid. Just going to respond to some of it below, bullet-by-bullet:

  • Not the first time someone has brought up the camera overlay messing up aim. We'll be addressing that post-jam.
  • The smiling thing is weird, definitely agree.  I will say, I think I just made the conscious decision to have them smile instead of not smile because it felt wrong for me to have the player throwing knives at people who may look like they don't want to be there. Got a little too dark for myself to have them frown or look scared. Was thinking of having them be criminals or debtors like your character--kind of like a "Saw" scenario--might pivot to that. I'm still not sure if I want to tweak them yet, but I do appreciate you calling it out as "off".
  • Knife going through the wheel is a bug. In terms of money/rating, and having difficulties balancing that while looking at the wheel is a good callout. I have an idea of how to address that. We might add, like a wheel stop that shows winnings per spin, or even just have it update when the knife hits the wheel. Either way, we'll talk about that and get a solution in post-jam.
  • Good call-out on the camera battery as lives thing. We'll work on how to better communicate that or the implications surrounding that. Right now, it's a bit bugged; they should be equal, but sometimes the body parts won't register as a life lost (only the head will).
  • Thanks for the appreciation of the warnings. I'm wondering if we can spice that up more or zhuzh it up for more tips and things to know. We'll be talking about that post-jam.
  • Thanks for the call-out on the $500,000. We could adjust the numbers better to make the game more reasonable to win. Last-minute game balancing before the jam submission. Seems like a trend for many. We could also prolly add a scorecard at the end, so players know how they finish.
  • The number of viewers gained is tied to the distance from the hitbox. Every 100 viewers gives you a flat bonus of $50. That could be better communicated as well or even changed depending on how we end up balancing the game better. We'll also discuss how to comm' that better.

Also, your feedback was not harsh! In fact, I appreciate you going into detail. Again, it gives us an idea of what to touch and what not to. Either way, thanks for giving the game a try and for the comments!

OMG the art is so good! Especially the first few parts that lead up to the title screen! All the assets looked coherent that created a unique vibe together! The gameplay is also very fun and interesting.

Really love the design of the title screen. It's definitely a style I would try to learn and mimic in my future games!

Developer

Thanks for the love of the art and gameplay! Took me a hot minute to get it looking the way that I like! Glad people appreciate it.  When it comes to "trying to learn and mimic" art, can't lie, I've been heavily inspired by Joan Cornellà for most of my visual work (Instagram, Twitter).  If ur looking to mimic an art style, I'd suggest looking at their work!

- S.

Submitted(+1)

Thanks for the suggestion! Their art is super cool too! I'll definitely try to learn this for my next project!

Submitted(+1)

I really like the game style, including the color scheme of the main interface and the pacing of the story introduction. The scene & the knife is 3D, that surprised me a lot, the game must put a lot of effort on it. Amazing game.

Submitted(+1)

Really well made. I loved the UI design and the game polish including the simplicity of the controls, the audio and the presentation were all really good. I do have a few gripes though:

1. Sometimes the spinning was too high and the multipliers we're readable.

2. Maybe after the round completes, you could stop the spinning for a sec to make the knives and where they landed, visible to the player.

3. Sometimes the knives were disappearing.

Developer(+1)

Aaay, thanks for giving the game a try and for the hype with our UI. Took me a hot minute to get right! Per the gripes:

  • Spinning being too fast is def a trend, we'll be reducing that and balancing it with poses. We had a last-minute bug that messed up our balancing a smidge; will get that right post-jam.
  • I like the stopping the wheel for reflection idea, will pitch that to the co-dev.
  • Knives disappearing is a bug right now, has to do with 3D shenanigans. We're working on fixing that. Appreciate you calling it out tho!

Regardless, appreciate the play and for leaving a comment!

Clean presentation and very easy to understand. Everything looks great. Overall a really really strong entry! It did feel a little exploitable being able to hit just outside the hands/feet for a safe “close call” that gained viewers, so it’d be interesting if the person’s position/size changed for a little harder challenge.

Developer(+1)

Aaay, ty for the feedback! Yes, body part positioning, that's bugged atm. We have it planned that the body parts will change angle the longer you play the game. Fixing that now. Appreciate you calling that out though!

Awesome game, pacing is good and I was able to pay all my debt haha. The music and SFX were on point, presentation was also very good, speciall the mix of 2D and 3D elements.

Some things I noticed:

  • Not sure if it's just a visual bug, but sometimes the knifes simply dissapeared
  • Sometimes when hitting that +Knife mark, I didn't get any extra at all
  • There were some CRAZY spins, glad there's a 'safe area' near the border I can toss the knifes and still score, specially close to the end-game, I couldn't even see what was hapenning, very chaotic and fun in the current way it's presented, but if the safe area didn't exist, it would be impossible

Overall, I really enjoyed playing it, awesome work and application of the theme!

Developer (1 edit)

Hey, thanks for giving the game a try and for the hype on the art! Spent way too much time on that >.<

As per the feedback you mentioned:

  • With the way knives were down, it sometimes goes through the board, which then doesn't calculate +Knife and modifiers. We're fixing that right now. It's a bug. Appreciate you noting it!
  • We plan on doing some balancing on wheel spins. Rn, poses stopped working right before the submission deadline, so we'll be fixing that. I'm wondering if we could maybe do a sweet spot between that in speed, so it's doable.

Regardless, appreciate those call-outs and for giving the game a go.

Really fun and fast paced game. Addicting as well. Would love to see more power-ups and if you plan on furthering the design it would be really cool to see people in different positions and proportions to increase the difficulty. Great Job!

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thanks for giving the game a go. Yes, gameplay will be worked on post-jam. Funny enough, we actually had different poses for the people--their arms and legs would adjust in angle as you continue to play--, however we have a bug right now preventing that from working. We'll be looking into how to zhuzh things up tho regardless. Appreciate you giving it a try!

-S.

Submitted(+1)

Love the art, the presentation, and the UI. Everything is really clean. Gameplay-wise, it’s fun and has some variation that kept me engaged for a while, though it did get repetitive. Great submission nonetheless!

Developer

Yo! Thanks for giving it a try. Will be zhuzhing up gameplay a smidge post-jam. Appreciate the callout and for giving the game a shot!

Mechanically it doesn't differ much from the usual knives games, I mean even in the 50 games in 50 hours challenge or what was it, it's the guy who made the snail vs AI game, that predict your movements, but I digress, in his challenge he made it into truly 3D, which is instead of circle, it's a sphere, all I want to say is that there isn't much a twist mechanically.

Cool game, it pretty fun

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Appreciate you giving it a try. We'll look into how to twist it somehow, not the first comment that brought up gameplay. I think our approach with the time we had was to try to make it "reverse darts." You are trying to almost hit the guy versus hitting the target/bulls-eye. That gets you more viewers, which then increases your profit/multiplier. Could def say as it is now, numbers are kind of boring by themselves, doesn't really change the feel of clicking or the raw loop itself lol. Either way, I appreciate you giving it a shot and for leaving a comment!

- S.

Submitted(+1)

I think you could add some variety to it, like someone not having a limb for example, or maybe they have 5 limbs? idk given the theme in shady markets maybe it fits, I guess for the numbers its needs to be more prominent or flair, I didn't realize I was on a timer since the camera battery is lowering, I think if there's like shopping sections or like you can shop every 5 person you failed or somethin, it gives it less repetitive feeling of just throwing knives,  since you could buy things that varied you gameplay, like whats the point of earning money if you can't use it, I mean sure its for the debts, but if you can buy stuff to make it faster to your goal, that would be cool additions. There's a lot of potential for sure,

Developer(+1)

Ooo, I like the shop idea. Could maybe even see slices of the wheel being purchasable for progression. Stealing that idea for next time the co-dev and I discuss how to zhuzh up progression. Thank!

Submitted(+1)

Gorgeously slick art, and I love the logo so much. The camera view overlay confused me a little, I thought the center was where I will aim and even if I knew it wasn't, I kept thinking it was haha. Really cool idea!

Developer(+1)

Aaay, thanks for the art hype! Also, good to know about the camera stuff. Kind of felt like that was going to happen for some >.< . Will def tweak that in some way to prevent confusion. Appreciate the time spent playing!

- S.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, I thought the camera overlay was an aim clue, but the time you got where exactly you throw, its smooth sail from there, Glad they didn't make it randomize or some other mechanics

Submitted(+1)

Good premise! The UI and visuals were clean and easy to grasp, even though it took me a second to realize how the bonus wheel segments worked, that's because I'm dumb so its fine. The offline screen as a way to indicate the game was over was a nice touch, it amped up the feeling of "oh whoops, I messed up".

I'm just now realizing the game did give me an end goal, and I'm not sure if I was close to getting there. The audio left a bit to be desired for, and I didn't really FEEL like I did well when I landed a hard shot. Having a whole cast of characters on the wheel was a nice touch rather than just having a static normal guy sprite, made every attempt feel more grounded that you were trying to not hurt someone. Pretty good game!

Developer(+1)

Yoyo! Thanks for the feedback and for giving the game a try! SFX and the goal could def be overhauled, appreciate the call-out! I do know that SFX rn is bugged, so like, half the sounds, including the knife hitting the board, just don't work. We're looking into it. When it comes to the objective, the goal was to get $500,000. We planned on doing something before getting it in, but accidentally forgot to include it. You know how jams go. Either way, I appreciate you giving the game a whirl and for the comment!

- S.

Submitted(+1)

Overall a really creative idea and implementation! The character models on the wheel were easy to read and play around while trying to lead shots around them. Like others are saying I think some feedback SFX (successful knife hit, viewers increasing, money increasing, etc.) would go a long way for not only keeping the player engaged but helping them understand what was a bad/decent/great knife throw. Overall though good stuff!

Developer

Hi! Thanks for the feedback and for giving the game a try. Yes, SFX! We will add more of those and give it an overhaul. I will say, the successful knife hit sound, and the viewer and money increase sounds are all in there. It's bugged out right now, so none play >.< . We're looking into it right now. Regardless, appreciate you giving it a try and for giving our game a comment.

- S.

Submitted(+1)

I liked the game, but the audio gets kinda reppetitive, and the gameplay loob, whille really enjoyable,  kinda ends up being a bit to stale.

Developer

Hey! Appreciate the comment and for giving our game a try. I think the jam time and the 3D stuff took a lot of plans out for a more thorough loop. We'll look into how to spice that up and audio as well so it doesn't feel as repetitive. Either way, I do appreciate you giving it a shot and for the feedback!

- S.

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the design and the overall game idea. I especially liked the scoring mechanic where you earn more audience points the closer you place the knife to the person. It was a fun idea and added some extra tension. :) I think some sound effects would make the game even better—for example, the crowd could gasp when someone gets hit or cheer when you’re really close to the target. That would make the experience feel even more exciting. Overall, it’s a fun game with a cool concept, and the controls were simple and easy to use. Great job! :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yo! Thanks for giving our game a try and for the feedback! We will def be looking to overhaul all the SFX. The jam time def got the best of us again. Took away from a bunch of plans, including some sounds. That one though, crowd reactions, we will add! Could help with getting a sense of what direction your game is going in.  Will say unfortunately, we do have a lot of sounds in, they just ended up bugging out last minute >.< (e.g., knife hitting board, viewer/money increase, etc.).  Either way, appreciate you taking the time out of the day to give it a go and for the comment!
