I actually really liked this one! I was a bit worried at first that it would be horror since you said Iron Lung like, but I get why you said that now and I'm glad there were no spooks. Very impressive that you got the different screens/mechanisms working! I also really like the break levers, because otherwise it would be pretty hard to control the ship. Super well done!

Really love the atmosphere in this game! It’s dreary and quiet and having the player stationary while they interact with the 4 machines that encase them is very cool and atmospheric! Fun puzzles and I had a great time!

Really good idea to make a submarine simulation! You can create so much atmosphere in a submarine without any external view :) I really love the controls and the game feel.

Sadly, apparently i am not smart enough to solve even the first riddle. But this will not cloud my judgement: great game! :D

Reminds me a lot of iron lung! This game is really fun, and I liked going around trying to figure out the codes. With the very first code I didn't know that I was supposed to just have one in the middle, so that took me a bit of time to figure out. Maybe having one more glyph in there could show that they are locational. Great game though, you did an amazing job!

Really cool game! I liked the atmosphere and the controls got fun after getting used to them. I couldn't figure out the last puzzle for the exit because I wasn't sure which codes to combine. But until then I really enjoyed crusing around and figuring out the codes.

Developer

Thanks for playing. All the glyphs in the wall that are partial solutions have a unique combination. In case of the solution for the exit door, there are two parts.
Other people complains about it's hard to distinguish the frame and the glyphs, so it's something that definetly requires a rework to help the player deduce what I commented

Yeah I struggled with figuring out what is part of the glyph, too with the first code but once I had understood that it worked well. It was just hard sometimes to find exactly the right position to see the symbols correctly. But figuring that out was kinda part of the learning curve so I think it's fine.

Truly amazing game! I love the mysterious atmosphere and the idea is very cool to begin with.
Also the theme was well interpreted.

Amazing game. I love the Iron Lung style gameplay, and you added some depth to it and integrated the theme really well, which made the experience feel unique. Great submission!

Developer(+1)

Another comment also mentioned Iron Lung and I didn't know about the existance of that game. I starting playing just today, and it's stupidly very similar my game with Iron Lung :)
Thanks for the comment

nice puzzle nice atmosphere nice sound design, definitely should be a standalone game!

Submitted(+1)

The visuals and sound design work really well together to create a very fitting atmosphere. The controls are a nice application of the theme, but I personally found them a bit frustrating after a while because I had to move back and forth so much to find the right clues.

Still, it's a very impressive game considering it was made in such a short time. Really nice job!

The lighting and setup of the room made this really feel claustrophobic and unnerving, which I think was the goal! I enjoyed the concept and the puzzling of this game, but I did feel like the navigation was more laborious than fun. But maybe that's the point as I'm sure it's not easy working on an actual submarine. Great game and I loved the creativity!

Really nice astethic, creative game and great entery!

Controls are a bit obtuse, but the atmosphere and aesthetic are perfect. Very eerie and (dare I say) serious

Submitted(+1)

Great idea! It was a little confusing to get the hang of it at first, but after some trial and error it felt pretty good to control. Do you plan to work on this after the jam?

Developer(+1)

Yes, I plan to work on it. I expect to extend a little bit the game, improve the visuals and polish the controls

Submitted(+1)

Love the art on this, good job modeling. And thank you for the emergency brakes, the game would be super frustrating without them! My only suggestion would be making the scanner a bit more legible, it's aesthetically pleasing but kinda hard to read the glyphs unless you're perfectly lined up. Great job overall!

Definitely the best game I've played so far in this game jam. Amazing sound, graphics, gameplay design. Clearly inspired by Iron Lung, but with it's own... "spin"... lol. Nah, I'm serious though, it's incredible and I wanna se a full version of it. My favourite definitely. I am a big fan of the unique mechanics and creepy climate.

Developer(+1)

Glad you like the game.
I didn't know about the movie (I think you are referencing the movie). Both the game and movie have a very similar mood. I will watch the movie, I think I will get more inspriation and reference to improve the environment. Thanks for the reference :)

You don't know Iron Lung? Woah.

The movie is based on a horror game with the same name actually, and the game is all about navigating a submarine in a deep underwater (or actually, blood filled) cave. The submarine doesn't have any windows, only a camera that can take one picture every 30 seconds or so, and after some time you see proof on one of the pictures that you're not alone and you have to be very careful with the navigation. The core idea of using very janky controls to navigate a submarine while being able only to see snapshots of the environment and not real time view is pretty much the same in your game as it is in Iron Lung. Definitely check it out! Kinda creepy how close you got to the idea of Iron Lung without knowing anything about it.

Nice puzzle game. I enjoyed it. It took some time to figure out the controls, but then it was intuitive.

Submitted(+1)

I almost completed the game but got stuck in the end with the treasure inside (couldn't find a way out :( ). Didn't stop me from liking the game and will try to find the way again and both endings. Thanks to art choice and great sound effects the game is very immersive. Had fun controlling the submarine and decoding doors. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank for playing.
Hint to find the exit: You can find it if you look closely at the screenshot of the radar in the itchio page ;)

Submitted(+1)

Super fun game!! Had great time figuring out how to control the vehicle and getting around using the valves and cranks.

Submitted(+1)

Looks and sounds really good! I really like the wheel controls and pulling the levers for a sudden stop :) Did you use raycasting for the scanner? I think the effect is great!

Developer

Do you mean to take a snapshot of the glyphs?
The way I implemented in Godot is a subviewport with its own 3D world, and then I use a script that generate the glyphs in that 3D world based on the radar (2D). Finally I take a screenshot of that viewport in low resolution to emulate and old device and finally put in the monitor of the scanner as a texture.
So, I don't use any raycast, it's just a screenshot of an isolated 3D world. :D

If you mean the interaction with the submarine, I use CollisionObject3D's _input_event method, that internally probably use some raycasting

Submitted(+1)

I love this! i love the idea of being an operator of some machine and i really like how you did it! the scanner is really cool. Couldnt finish it but ill added to do it later
