ARTHUR THE SEAL HAS A BROTHER! Your game is so much smoother of a platformer lol. Super fun to play and cute music too.
I found your game by searching for “seal” lol. Was curious if any other game had seal in the title. For what it’s worth the player controller is heavily edited from something I made before the jam (added the drill attack, up/down code, a lot of animations, etc…). If you made yours within the 7 days I commend you as it has nice sense of momentum.
I was actually between houses, so I made it in the library in 2 or 3. That's why it's all style with shallow gameplay heheh. But I would love to expand it and put it up for free on my website! :D
THIS WAS SO FUN!!! i'll be the first to admit i don't usually play platformers but this was so charming i had to persist!! and making a cake is such a cute twist on it!! took a couple of attempts but i'm glad our spider overlord enjoyed the final product.
Starts out as a normal platformer an boom, we are baking a cake! Did not see that one! :p
I was really not expecting to bake a cake. I messed up the coco powder. I went with a teaspoon the first time and it took ages to fix and lost anyway lol. Great game!
Very fun game
Love the seal flooping around
Wasn't expecting to be rushing out to make a cake for the spider, but here we are. PEAK experience ngl~ (Also finally a better platformer in the jam cause most of them are either floaty or unforgiving...)

Platformers tend to suffer from developer difficulty hard. I definitely was aiming towards the more friendly side (even then I still had to put out a difficulty patch for the oil).
hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I was not expecting to love this game so much. Booted it up and initially thought "Ah, another rudimentary platformer with rudimentary visuals. How exciting." But then I finished the spider cutscene, and the room lit up and the music started groovin and the measuring cups started spinnin and AHHH I love it.
The absurdity of the premise does a lot to make the game fun. Running around grabbing 10 nondescript gems to beat the level wouldn't have been as interesting. But running around as a seal grabbing ingredients for a cake to satiate the spider king? Much more fun. There's also a lot mechanically to keep things engaging. Movement feels really nice, the drill stomp is satisfying, and the timer adds a sense of urgency. The different measuring cups make this especially fun. Rather than just finding the 10 thingamacguffins, you need to check the recipe, grab the right cup, go to the ingredient, bring it back to the bowl, and spin to wi—I mean spin to mix it in. Requires a lot more active thought than what would otherwise be a rather standard collectathon. I also like the unique mechanics with eggs; helped to add some variety to the typical "measuring cup → ingredient → bowl" loop.
Also, the music is awesome, especially during the baking part. The sound effects present are also great, but I wish the player had them as well. As for visuals, I'm mixed. The seal and spider king are adorable, and the scrappy visuals definitely play to the game's theming. However, I think the game still would benefit a lot from some level of visual cohesion. Keep the 3D measuring cups and ingredient images, sure, but everything else would've done well to adopt a style similar to the spider king.
Again, awesome game; enjoyed it way more than expected!
A lot of the visual stuff was thrown together towards the end as I spent a lot on the technical side. If I had more time I’d defenitely work more towards keeping the art style consistent. I sort of leaned more towards the wackiness towards the end too.
Such a cool game. Amazing idea
I LOVE SEALS. 11/10. ive had the name "seal the deal" in mind for a game, so seeing this brought me immense joy
Wholesome little game. The seal and the animations are very cute! I like the idea of the spoons being really big and spinning above the seal's head. While I do appreciate the twist of having to gather a bunch of ingredients, it would've been nice if the fetch quest was just a tad more interesting. And some sound effects for moving around would have been appreciated too!
Was definitely planning for more stuff along the way. Made the entire second level’s layout in about 24 hours though, so uh… Ran out of time lol. I also was going to add player sounds during the sound pass but couldn’t find any sound that really fit.
Very cute platformer! Having the ingredients list in a physical space was a bit frustrating, it would've been much better as a menu I could toggle open/closed whenever I wanted. Also I was a little disappointed that we didn't have to spin the mixing bowl a bunch of times to mix the ingredients together. But the character felt great to control and I had fun!
Metagame cog 89/126
I was originally planning for you to be able to mix it up. Ran out of time though unfortunately.
Really fun game!
The jumping physics felt very free flowing, and the gameplay was funny and enjoyable.
Absolutely perfect! 10/10 would bake again
I seriously loved your game, when I started I thought it would be a generic platform and then I had to bake a cake while jumping as a seal, an absolute piece of art. The visuals and the music perfectly match with the theme and the gameplay is really enjoyable. Amazing work!
I really liked the Drill Attack technique—it has that “spin-to-win” feel, and it’s a fun move that lets you smash through blocks in a row or squeeze into tight spaces. I also found the player’s objective—gathering ingredients for cooking—to be a fresh and novel idea! Great job!
