I had so much fun with your game!! I love a good hunting game, and this felt so fun to hit the deer! I got a triple kill and laughed out loud at how comical the strike was. Deer bones scattered everywhere, haha! Amazing. Loved it!

HOLYY SH&T!

Good F*cking Job!

That game was certainly an experience, Next time I go deer hunting I will definitely make sure to bring my orbital space laser :)

Only critique is the repetitiveness, once you've beaten the first level you have essentially seen everything there is to do with the game (not that that is a bad thing), I thoroughly enjoyed playing your game though and I cant wait to see where it goes next!!

Developer(+1)

I kept it short in hopes of keeping it from getting too repetitive. I hope you got a chuckle out of it!

Oh ya chuckes were had :)

Host(+1)

does this hurt the deer?

this taught me the thrill of what gambling feels like as i would predict the movement of the deer. i feel like there are some serious moral implications of this game too, would be funny to swich POVs and then become a deer shooting the humans on earth2. pew pew.

Developer

Thanks for fitting my silly game into your schedule!

I never knew before that nuclear bombs are the most effective way to hunt deer! I'll keep it in mind for when the apocalypse happens.

It didn't run super well on my computer but well enough to play for a bit, it's quite an original idea! And the way the deer bounce when you hit them is funny aswell :P

The only thing I would complain about is that I felt it was a little repetitive gameplay wise, after killing a couple I thought to myself: ''alright, I get it'' and kinda just wanted to move on. If you'd like to expand on this idea sometime though I think that could be easily fixed by adding some more randomness. Things like different bullets or other targets, not just deer. That would make it into more of a sandbox that people can mess around with at their leasure and just look at all the effects or laught at the physics.

Fun little game though, I'm glad I gave it a shot!

Thanks for checking it out! I didn't make many levels or expand because I knew the content was repetitive and was really only meant for a couple minutes of chuckles at the absurdity of the whole thing. There is some optimization stuff that was missed also due to me not seeking out enough play tests prior to final upload. I'm sorry it ran poorly. Patch is ready for jam end. I'm happy it still provided a few minutes of fun.

Never knew nuking deer could feel so good

Now thats what I'm talking about!!! Masterpiece 10/10 "HOLY SHI*T" feel that fr

Interesting game lol, instead of taking cow with UFO we just send an ORBITAL STRIKE !!! XDDDD
The best strat is just spamming the orbital strkike to clean level fast

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for checking it out! Explosions will scale with the temperature gauge and the spin to win is being reworked a bit in the coming patch after judging. I hope to balance the challenge a bit.

this was wild hahahahaha

its peak tbh good job LOL

The game was fun but hard, it was really satisfying to hear the onKill SFX and seeing the deers flying. Also the aestethic of the UI fits the story very well. Maybe the spin could be a bit slower, I feel that beating past level 2 trying to play "legit" was way too hard so just tapping repeatedly was the easier way to win the 3 levels which I did

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! I wasn't able to get much playtesting prior to the final upload, I have some balance changes, fixes and updates ready to go for voting end. I'm glad you still had fun!

Submitted(+1)

Ay I ran the game after the dx11 fix and it ran perfectly! As other people have said the games vibe is so fun, having that "heck yeah" vibe of arcades is definitely a unique idea. The last level is pretty hard though, I couldnt beat it but had allot of fun trying!

Developer(+1)

Awesome! I'm so happy you got to play it! Thanks for coming back for another try!

Submitted(+1)

Genuinely impressed, no complaints, this is quite literally something you should try selling to those adult game bars like Dave and Busters so people can hop on a machine and blast freaking deer from space.  It's satisfying getting "holy s___" and watching bambi fly up above the trees. This is a good lesson to a newbie like me that a game doesn't need to be too complicated, it just needs to be fun. This is the type of game I'm going to keep downloaded on my computer to just have a good time with and burn off steme/mind numb the stress.

Developer(+1)

Wow! That really means a ton! That was my exact target audience when making this game. I wanted to have the arcade quick amusement feel. Something you can walk up to and play for a few minutes, chuckle and walk away feeling good. Be sure to snag the update after the jam ends. I'm adding some scaling to the explosives that correspond to the heat level for bigger booms and higher levels. Also a couple much needed fixes. Thank you so much for taking the time to check it out!

Lmao this story is so funny, how did you come up with this? I feel a little bad for killing the deer though :-<

I think the game is also really hard! I have no idea how you could possibly beat level 3. I only got 33/50, and I was cheating the entire time by just tapping click - letting me reuse the same red slot ~5 times each before having to slowly charge it again. Also the game was very laggy for me, but that might just be my laptop being bad.

Overall I enjoyed the game, the execution was great. I really love the "great f*cking job" when you kill a bunch of enemies, super satisfying! I also love the deer shooting off into space

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

The story was just first draft idea and kept it. The idea itself comes from a Photoshop Friday submission from 2009 for a spoof game called Orbital Deer Hunter Ultra for PS3, the artist made the mock-up below and the idea to turn it into something real was always in the back of my head. I have some minor optimization stuff ready for after rating ends but working on something major for performance that should completely fix any issues as well. Explosion size will also scale with the temperature gauge in the patch I have ready.  I hope I got a chuckle out of you and made you feel like an over powered badass for a few minutes. Thanks so much for checking it out!

Hey! I am gonna be very honest, the game didnt run for me, I pressed Enter and it just hanged at ate up 90% of my cpu. I tried multiple times but same issue. So instead of leaving a bad rating I will just wait and if you figure out what is causing it and how I can run it correctly then ill come and play it again!
EDIT: The dx11 fix worked for me!

Developer (6 edits)

Out of 44 downloads only 1 other user experienced an issue running and dx11 mentioned in the description got it working for them. What are your specs? Did the main menu open or the game didn't open at all? I need more information to find your solution. Did you attempt the dx11 fix? You can try creating a shortcut to the exe. And in the shortcut properties add -dx11 to the end of the target field, that will force dx11. Let me know if this works.

Alright thanks! Imma try this fix and will let you know!

I see I shoot I come home happy!! 10/10

deer revolt lol... nice! gratuitous and funny. i like the camera inertia, coupled with however you got that post processing effect it really nailed the vibe of long-range camera. core mechanic is def spin-to-win, would love some inertia on that too but good tension between deer running away/trying to line up a shot

Developer (1 edit)

I think I will be trying the inertia idea out. Thanks for trying my game!

It's a little hard to just time the shot (it spins so fast). I just resorted to tapping the button hoping to catch it over any group of deer. Other than that, it weirdly gave me old Command And Conquer vibes with the UI, which is a good thing. Felt nostalgic in a way. Some of the goals might be too hard, given how hard it was to line up the shot to fire. If you went forward with this, I'd either add in a slower revolver, more time, or maybe the ability to earn money, buy upgrades with options radar pointing to larger groupings or maybe some herding mechanic or extra arrows to line up?  Still, good feel overall.

Developer(+1)

Unfortunately, I didn't reconnect the math I had worked out prior to my final upload so depending on your PC clock speed, it may be a bit unruly. I have the patch ready to go for after the jam ratings are over. I have fixed this and increased performance slightly by reducing the movement controller requests for the deer. I appreciate you playing and the ideas for expansion. I have a feeling I'm going to turn this into something with upgrades as you mentioned. I have already added the temperature gauge to also increase the size of your explosion so it adds benefit to playing closer to overheat. Thank you so much for checking it out!
