Very cute! The upgrade UI on the right side of the screen did get cut off, but other than that, it was great! I loved getting to lose my job for my kitties lol

I am a simple human being. I see cats, I play the game.

Love the cat pics and the little story with the surprise ending. Would love some more sound FX so that it's not just silence as the wheels spin for you. Neat! (my cat sat on my lap while I played this)

As a cat enthusiast, I liked looking at the cats while the wheels spun!

Developer

Haha thank you fellow cat enthusiast!

This is so cute! I love it, what a unique concept!! The art/UI is so endearing. Very realistic cat dialogue also, and the reveal at the end sent me ;^;

I'm curious about what other features you wanted to add! I kept getting the urge to click on the cat's belly to give it a rub lol but this was my only idea.

Developer(+1)

That would've been such a good idea! Yeah I had a whole upgrade UI worked out, but ran out of time before I could add anything meaningful to it. This would've had you using points to actually spawn in more wheels, make them go faster, and more. I also wanted to add more juice to make the game feel better but again had to prioritize different places. As a solo dev, I think next jam I'll use pre-made assets so I can focus on the core gameplay, and work on my art skills on my other projects.

Very cute and fun game! According to the comments, these are your actual cats, which is adorable. My only criticism (and this might just be that I didn't get it) is that I didn't fully understand what the upgrades did. Other than that, I really like the idea!

Developer

Yeahhh I had a screen that was going to explain it better but ran out of time before it got implemented. Thank you for the feedback

I really enjoyed this! It's always exciting to me when game developers effectively incorporate humor into their games, and I laughed out loud several times while playing this incremental game. I know you mentioned not being able to get in all of the features that you wanted, which I'm sure many of us (myself included) can relate to; I wish there'd been some background music, possibly a meow or two -- anything to set the stage a bit better for the zaniness of your furry companions. Also, after waiting a minute or two for any of the wheels to give me the last toy I needed, I found myself wondering what it might look like if there were specific mechanics for any of the gauges getting too full. But ultimately, I think the game was quite serious, quite enjoyable, and beyond creative -- especially using your actual cats as elements of the UI design!

All in all, great work. Please tell your cats I say pspspspspspspsps <3

Thank you so much for the feedback! Means a lot coming from the creator of such an awesome game! (Also the cats say "Meow")

Developer

Maybe it is...

Cute game. Love the cat pics. The UI is nice and intuitive. Would have liked it if the amount of hearts needed for upgrades were visible without the mouseover.

Developer

Ah yes that would've been much better haha thanks for playing

fellow cat parent here !! so cute that you made a cat game with your real cats (T ^ T) a creative way to implement the spin theme !!
we also made an incremental game but it is not inspired by our two lovely cat daughters.

Developer

Absolutely loved your game! Thanks for playing fellow cat parents!

Nice work on this.

Since you mentioned your goals were to work on your art and UI, I thought I'd send through some feedback relating to that:

  • Firstly, the cats are great, and I think the mixed media of fully digital and real images is a great way to accentuate the cats.
  • The way the spinners grow when they finish really draws your eyes to them, this is really well done. Its a little tricky with 3 spinners at once, but having a way to prioritize whatever animations are playing such that the player can focus on one element at a time can really help the player to appreciate your nice animations, and really sell the impact of one action into another. A good example of this would be a game like Balatro, where the animations go left to right one after another.
  • Little ambient animations like the way the cat names wobble also goes a long way.
  • Whilst not specifically UI, some feedback (maybe cat noises?) upon purchasing upgrades would help the game feel more responsive.

Good luck with the rest of the Jam!

Thank you for the feedback! If nothing else my wife got a good laugh at seeing our cats on screen.
