Supernice game with a funny theme! the movement felt great and the launching mechanic was fun to use! It did confuse me a little tho that the strenght didnt matter of your jump, maybe would have been nice to specify that somewhere in the beginning? but overall, great game and lots of potential to make more levels in the future!
Such a fun game, I loved the movement so much, I just want more levels with it now! The dialogue and story was so funny too!! I'm more fascinated on how this CAT was able to escape the IRS and not me though. smh.
Death and taxes. DEATH AND TAXES
very fun game, I liked it when headphone cat killed the IRS
But i've managed to escape so.... Maybe i wont.
Very serious! Very fun too. However, I feel like the cramped claustrophobic level desing compliments the fast flowing movement very well. Also the drag ability was a bit weird sometimes, since I couldn't get the direction I wanted (due to screen size and stuff).
This is a very, very, solid experience, good job. A very nice platformer, and very, very, serious simulator of how it is to actually try to escape the IRS. My uncle have tried this before, and let me tell you my friend, it is not easy, he did not made it... the ICE got him first...
I can't believe i was able to escape the IRS!
A couple small items before I forget:
Okay! Now that the small stuff is out of the way, I gotta say, I was a big fan of this. Which is saying something because I'm not the biggest fan of platformers. I thought the theme/narrative was SO FUN, and the levels weren't too difficult at all! When I saw a "Celeste"-like, I thought I was going to rage quit. But no, it was very enjoyable. Even with my lack of mouse.
I hope this game does well in this jam. It's very well made. Thanks for making a platformer I actually enjoyed. :)
This game is FUNNY. Seriously great job (pun intended) on the writing and visual humor.
The tutorial introduced a bunch of mechanics in a row which was a little bit too much for me.
However seeing as the rest of the game is meant to be a speedrun I understand you most likely didn't want the speedrun to be bogged down by a tutorial dialog box.
Maybe the tutorial could be a little longer? I would've liked a little more space between each new mechanic to let the player get used to them.
Some of the text went offscreen. Specifically to the left side of the screen. In case it matters I played full screen on a 1440p monitor.
The art fits the game really well and it's funny to see the IRS logo and job application mixed in with the pixel art.
It's very clear to see each game element too!
Level difficulty felt like it went a little up and down but I suppose that's good for the pacing.
OH and I found the key bindings annoying. I really wish I could jump with the "W" key instead.
Very fun jam game!
This is pure cinema. Really enjoyed the movement mechanics with the mouse (GAME RECOGNIZES GAME)
I hold the world record (2:38:190), I did it by running from the IRS exactly like how I do in real life
not bad kid! congrats!!
An actually really fun platformer about some very serious real-life things - seeing life through the eyes of an American truly is a sight to behold. The American Dream, in digital form.
The controls felt good, and even when I was doing badly I felt like it was a problem with myself and not the game - my control over the mechanics wasn't as good as it could have been, but the platforming was solid, and I still managed to complete the game in a - hopefully respectable - six minutes.
If I had to nitpick, I'd say the timer ticking away during dialogue too felt a bit unfair, but the platforming in general and the gameplay loop as a whole was really well prepared and really well structured.
The IRS is serious business.
Great game! Loved living out my fantasies.
its alright i guess
I beat you with 2:38:190 :), see latest post on the game
yoooo awesome stuff man! hope you enjoyed your time while doing it :
that was really fun! i loved the mechanics and level design and the plot was funny! well done!
In terms of platforming this game is one of the best on this jam! The jump and spin mechanics are really smooth. It’s a shame there aren’t more levels in the game, I wanted to play more! It’s done really well (and it does have that Celeste vibe). The pixel art is pretty cute, it’s just a shame the game doesn’t have a more interesting background. The music fits perfectly, too.
The most painful part of the game is the plot… Taxes, job applications... are you sure you were making a platformer and not a horror game?
Anyway, it’s a great game and I’d play it more if you decide to make new levels in the future.
Very cool game considering it was made in like 6 days and based on a meme. Gameplay felt very fluid, I found the story funny, and didn't find bugs aside from the pause menu triggering when you press ESC from the main menu (I was trying to exit fullscreen there). I know I could have done a lot better on my first run if I'd switched to Z controls and had a mouse (I'm on trackpad rn). Overall a very fun and speedrunnable game, with polished visuals and audio, and one can clearly see that the low effort on IRS and Job Application in terms of visual appeal was intentional, and that cat is totally relatable.
Super solid game. I love platformers. Really well made tutorial, very impressive to have done all of this in such a short time period.
Really my only complaints are that it was kinda hard to judge how far the left click move will go due to the camera zoom changing a lot, and I encountered a bug where I entered a cutscene with the right click move charged, so the entire cutscene was like slowed down. It took like 2 minutes instead of 30 seconds.
But like, overall, it was very fun.
There is nothing that I can say that hasn't been said already in another comment. So, I will just say this: I am coming for that WR.
