This is a really enjoyable game! Now, I know others have also mentioned this, but a way to skip the dialogue if you have already seen it once would be extra awesome ':D
Great game! I feel though that there should be away to skip the opening thing if possible just a suggestion. I really like the feeling of landing on the other persons cyclone!
It was a little frustrating at first but once I learned the mechanics it became more fun to play. I wish I could skip the introduction dialogue, I died twice before my successful run almost immediately since I didn't know the controls yet, so I had to sit through it a total of three times. It also would just be good for those who want to re-play the game.
Rewarding the attacker by restoring their health is a good way to give player reward and agency, every encounter feels pretty high stakes even if it isn't, which is good for a game like this. The mechanics are admittedly pretty simple, and you being able to add customization to the game is pretty cool for a jam game.
A nice simplistic fighter, this was good! Parrying was pretty overpowered - I never seemed to win clashes when I dashed at the same time as my opponent so it's pretty much what I stuck to the entire time. It would've been nice to have had a couple of different arenas, or something else going on in them (like rocks or speed up pads), but for what this is, it does it well. Good job!
Metagame cog 94/126
I really enjoy the fighting mechanics in this game, fun to build up momentum and slam into the opponent. I like the name too, cyclone was a good word choice.
I really enjoyed this. Simple mechanics to learn but tough to master in the fighting pit.
I did encounter a visual bug where the camera would clip through the arena when your top was backed up. It would always fix itself but was a bit annoying in the moment.
Did not read the instructions, did not understand why I kept winning or losing. But my loans are forgiven so I'm happy
I love that attacking your opponent regains your health, it makes the game much more intense when you're at low health and dash towards your opponent. Great job!
This is the first beyblade-like game where I actually felt like I understood the idea of "spin," which means a lot to me! The only part that confused me was the "press at the right time to maximize spin." I thought it was a tutorial at first, and so I kept expecting a mechanic where I charged up my spin. There were bits of jank (the camera sometimes disappeared into the wall, the bottom half of the tournament bracket was cut off on my screen), and while I'm so grateful that you tackled the very serious topic of student debt, I do wish I could have skipped the intro text eventually (I was not good at the game).
That being said, I really like this game. The 1v1 duels were simple enough to understand, but still challenging, and it was thrilling to see my opponent wobbling as I went in for the kill. I think I now understand just a little bit more why people like spinning top battles so much.
Really fun! Only relevant feedback I could think of is that Godot's ColorPicker node might've been a bit easier to use for the customization screen, but the fact there even is a customization screen at all is amazing.
Now that I know Godot has a colour picker node, that'll be in a future update for sure 🤣
Wow, I'm very impressed by how you were able to make an amazing game like this in such short time, that was very fun and would be interested to get back to it in the future if you improve upon it, amazing work ♥
I was a little too eager and jumped straight into the gameplay without reading the instructions, so I somehow managed to win without even knowing defending was a thing lol. 😂 It was really fun! I liked the gameplay a lot. Good stuff!
There was a bit of lag when colliding sometimes, but otherwise I enjoyed it. It could probably use some feedback for the player for when they successfully parry (I know theres a sound) or when you win a trade. Was a bit confused on that part. I really enjoyed it overall though, nice concept I could roll with. This Froggert and this is my favorite game in the citadel.
I would like for my loan to go away if I won a cyclone tournamment! good entry, had fun!
THIS IS THE BEST TITLE TEXT I HAVE SEEN SO FAR. I'm sad the student loan crisis hasn't been fixed by 2037 but at least we get to spin beyblades, I mean cyclones. (for legal purposes 😉)
I struggled to win the first match with maximum spin.
The camera angles are CINEMATIC. Is your dad Steven Spielberg perchance? The spinning is very much present, I think I had a seizure between match 2 and 3.
And it is satisfying to watch my enemy wobble their little last death knell wobbles before I claim victory. Nice spinning, let it rip 🌀!
Thanks so much for playing! I' m glad you liked the camera angles (especially since I'm the team member who worked on that 😅).
the game is very addicting and is very good
