The gameplay loop is fun and the upgrades are cool, but the thing that really gets me here is the level of polish. In particular, the dynamic pan-and-zoom during combat is really well done; it really makes things feel like there's an intelligent person manning the camera and keeping the action in frame. The controls are great, too, and combat feels really nice. Not much else to say, just a great game all-around. Awesome work!
This was really fun, great working finishing on the sharp time limit!
This is amazing! Feels great, gameloop is really good and really polished!
The plane controls feel really good, especially dodging the bullets and missiles at the last second. The art looks so good and I love the retro arcadey feel you have going on. Never stop making games!
Not planning to stop so far. This game really was an exercise in making stuff with very limited dev time, so I'm glad it doesn't show that much.
AHA i was waiting for the incremental aspect and it delivered. camera movement on this feels great especially the zooms when engaging in combat. very nice!!
Glad you enjoyed it. I didn't have much time to work on it during the week, so I was hoping that I can make up for it by just focusing on my speciality which is game design. Thankfully seems to be working so far :P
I really like how you feel spinng and dodging
Nice work
Really cool game ! Just need a music in the background, like the Top Gun video game on gamecube :
i loved it when i was kidGood mechanic, good polish, nicely done!
This feels really polished! Some background music would have been nice at the start though. I didn't have the skills to win, but I had fun trying!
The animations and art are incredibly good! very satisfying doing last-second turn arounds and boosting into an enemy.
Reminds me of an old mobile or web game i used to play.
I love this game, saw it on Discord during the jam and was itching (heh) to play it. Love the art, the gameplay, the challenge. The repair seems weird, I feel bad using repair when it does full health while I could "repair" myself through help-upgrade which would make the repair instead of upgrade way more worthy later. "spin to win" is definitely delivered here, some music would be cool maybe, but that can be a design decision as well of course. Great submission!
Ok I see that Luftrausers had a similar impact on you as it did on me. I loved that game and frankly I think I am going to reinstall it now after playing this. Obviously comparing the two is a little unfair, I think they had a little longer than 7 days to craft that game. In fact, gimme a second, I'm gonna play a round of Luftrausers right now and then get right back to you. Please hold.
Okay. Yeah. Still rad. My skills have atrophied though, yikes. The two games are more different than memory might suggest, different controls and upgrade systems entirely. However, if I were to suggest you borrow one thing wholesale from Vlambeer's design, if you allowed the ship to auto-repair itself when the player wasn't firing the weapon, that would take a lot of edge off the difficulty and offer a push-and-pull in gameplay, attack vs. evade.
This was super fun and I'm stoked about it. Let me know if you're developing it further, I'll gladly show up for playtests at the very least.
Yeah in actuality I never in my life played Luftrausers, the first time I've heard about it was when I started sharing progress pics in the discord chat, after that I only looked at screenshots, so I haven't really been taking inspiration from it.
Loved the art and solid gameplay !!!!!
Seriously solid game. Controls are tight, combat is satisfying, gameplay is challenging, and progression works very well. I found myself trying multiple times to beat it! Would be a solid arcade game. I just wish there was some music! But the audio that was there worked well.
Well done!
This is a really fun game. I was amazing to control and the visuals are great, hit audit and feedback are great. Looking forward to play more of it <3
Really good art! Good work!
