The puzzles themselves were fun to solve, but I found the rest of the game to be frustrating enough that it took away from that fun. I felt like I was barely making enough to able to keep my tablet in reasonable shape, let alone trying to maintain the inks and food I needed. I was solving the puzzles perfectly, so was making what I assume was the most I could on each puzzle. The pop up ads were annoying, and are the kind that make me stop playing and uninstall a game because of how they get in the way. I think the ads would have been less annoying if they popped up after I hit send on a puzzle, instead of at random times, because it would have been less disruptive to my flow. It didn't help that when I clicked the "X" on an ad, it would move the square under it, which impacted my tablet's health and sometimes meant I had to do a few more moves to get things back to the way they were. I think the blinking as I got tired might have been okay, but by the time I was getting that I was frustrated enough that it was just another annoyance instead of an interesting game mechanic.
The grid puzzles were fun and I would have enjoyed spending more time solving them. But for me, everything else took away from the game instead of adding an additional layer of strategy to it.
Thank you a lot for the long feedback! :D
The game balancing is really bad at the moment, and we received a lot of useful feedback about that.
I hope the new version we will launch after the jam is over will address those problems and make the game a little bit more fun to play ;)
Really fun puzzle game, if I had to buy it I would. However, some QOL things would be making left click turn Counter-clockwise; and right click clockwise, another thing would be making it so the square doesn't turn when the ads are closed . Other than that it was a really fun experience!
Thank you for the feedback, it makes me happy that you like our game :D
The two things you pointed out will be done on the 'final' version that we will publish as soon as the jam is over.
Thanks again for playing; we appreciate it :)
Fun little puzzle game, I really enjoyed the puzzle itself and the game! I do think the game is a little hard, but I read that you alredy fixed that in an update so no notes there. Good job!
Thank you for playing and for the feedback! :)
Neat little game. I like the puzzle itself and I love the ads. So good.
Like others have mentioned, and as you've acknowledged on the page, the game needs some balancing. It is too difficult (and exceptionally so for simple people like me).
But all in all, it's a simple premise done very well. And thematically, surprisingly serious. I dig it. Good work!
Thank you for playing our game and leaving feedback :D
That... hit too close to home, man.
The sheer amount of mechanics that are hellbent on making you feel frustrated at first, and then more and more miserable... I was so proud that I've got enough money to repair my tablet, but then I realised how much the paint costs... When the color started fading out, I literally gasped. I could not have imagined that the game could get even more cruel, but then the light started to fade...
As a person who worked in one form of precarity or another most of my adult life, I can attest that this game, while being a cool game on its own, captures something important about the nature of modern labor relations. Absolutely brilliant.
Thank you so much for the feedback. It makes me a little sad that a game I designed to be comically frustrating illustrates modern working relationships so perfectly. Regardless, I absolutely loved reading your comment. Thank you so much, it really made my day!
The Idea of the Game is really good. Like the Visuals and the Puzzle itself.
The Ads were funny, but on closing I always turned the spuare behind it .. was a bit annoying
As already mentioned on the Page, there needs to be some balancing. If the Tablet wouldn't break that fast it would be better I think.
But apart from that, I loved a lot of things, like, that you need to buy ink for the Printer! :)
Thank you for your feedback and for playing our game :)
this game is cruel😭
comedic sadness aside, I really like the spinning puzzle design, almost Rubik's Cube-like but not too much to be too difficult for the layman
Thank you for playing and for your feedback! We experimented with some versions of the puzzle, and in the end chose a simpler one that we feel is hard enough to entertain, but easy to learn. I'm happy you appreciated that :)
This game made me appreciate my job a little bit more, lmao. Really unique idea, the ads were hilarious and the gameplay itself was fun. My only complain is that the tablet broke way too often and since that slows down your ability to make money it gets annoying really fast. Maybe the first few cracks to the tablet should only be visuals? And once it is really chipped it starts going slower. Besides that really cool and unique game, good job!
Indeed, the balance of the game is off, and we do not have the time to adjust it. A new version with a tablet that does not get so slow is coming when the jam finishes :) Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it :D
creative and clever! and i was glad to in out other people had the same sentiment about interruptions :D aside that cool game kudos!
Indeed, lots of comments about "just let me play the puzzle" :D We will improve that in the next version after the jam ends. Thank you for playing!
Cool game, very addictive!
Thank you for playing it :)
It's one of the more unique puzzle games I've played this jam. I know what you were going for with the adds and all, but I do believe it hurt the gameplay a bit.
But overall, an enjoyable entry!
When we initially came up with the puzzle mechanic, we thought players would find it really boring, almost like a chore.
So, we decided to turn it into a joke and make everything intentionally frustrating to play (just like a real job :P). But seeing that people are actually enjoying the puzzle aspect, maybe we should have taken the game in a different direction! :D
Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! :)
Very nice idea! The ads part was really funny. Great job!
Thank you for playing! :)
This game made me want to shoot myself in the first 5 minutes, but I'm assuming that's what you were going for. Just like a real job. I do think the tablet is the worst fault because it just slows down the gameplay. I do like all the other ones though.
I'm so sorry ;_(
Balancing the game was the worst part for us, and I do think that the tablet gets too slow too quickly, and it's too expensive to fix :P
Thank you for playing and leaving a review! :D
Very cool! Definitely something I could get lost playing:)
Thank you for playing! :)
How creative! Those ads man haha really funny xD
Thank you for playing our game :)
Very clever puzzle game. I loved the visuals and the soudtrack. Beautiful presentation with a good explanation on hot to play. Right on the theme and very fun, really well done!
Thank you for playing! I am glad you enjoyed :)
I really love the puzzle mechanic. The money and stats balancing was good but I feel like there are too many interruptions, even after buying premium. I know thats on point with reality and I love it, but there is a part of me that just wants to play the puzzle game and the stats part because they work together so well. From a programming point of view, those blackouts and sleep effects are amazing! Great job there!
Thank you for playing! It was intended that the gameplay would be frustrating, but reading all the reviews, I think that it was too much, hahaha. The most annoying, I believe, is the Tablet that gets slow too fast; after 2 or 3 puzzles is already very annoying, and it's too expensive to fix. It's hard to "just play" the puzzle part. But I'm happy that you enjoyed the effects :)
Actually a pretty cool management game! I like how actions have to be balanced with the smallest amount of moves to maximize money. Kinda neat! It would be nice if the printer worked with the stats open, and if closing a popup didn't rotate a part of the tablet!
Thank you for playing :) Indeed, the printer sound continues, but the scene is frozen when you open the stats menu; that's a bit strange, definitely something that I want to fix. The ads are buggy indeed, and very frustrating to spin your board when you just want to close an ad, sorry about that :P As if the game does not have a lot of infuriating elements...
Fun game! I liked the puzzle mechanic and the screen effects (losing ink, getting hungry, etc) that made it more challenging. I was not able to make enough money to keep up with the upgrades I needed — I'd recommend making the upgrades cheaper for balance :) I also tried spinning the luck wheel many times, which may have led to my downfall because I only ever won inspirational quotes or got rest, which was the one stat I didn't need a boost on. Well done overall!
Thank you for the review! Reading the comments, we are noticing that the game is very unbalanced. But I'm happy you enjoyed it and I hope some inspirational quotes make your day better :D
I really think that the concept is so good and the music fits well. The only thing that I would try to improve is that the game feels too paintful (I know that that's the intention, but a little bit less), but if that was what you were looking for, then that's very well achieved.
Thank you so much for taking the time to play my game and for leaving such a thoughtful comment! I really appreciate the feedback. We actually spent quite a bit of time debating the difficulty balance during development. While we intentionally wanted to make the experience feel somewhat 'painful' and irritating, we were also very concerned about finding the right threshold. Our main goal was to ensure players would stick with it long enough to complete at least one 24-hour cycle to experience all the game's mechanics, like the darkness of night, the effects of hunger and sleep deprivation, and the printer running out of ink. Knowing that you caught onto that intention is very validating, but it’s great to hear a player's perspective on where that line between 'challenging' and 'too much' really lies. Thanks again for the input!
