I really like how original the idea is, especially after playing so many games that revolve around existing concepts.
The mechanic could use a bit more polish, but that’s completely understandable since it’s not a very common one. I hope you turn it into a finished game—I’d love to play it!
The graphics were fantastic. It’s my own interpretation, but I feel the game conveys the message that one’s greatest rival is ultimately oneself…!!
I loved this interpretation!
I didn't quite understand what the goal of this was, but I like the Graphics
Thanks for checking out Awkward Pong.
I'm currently making updates to the game so fingers crossed, its going to look a whole lot better and feel better when the update is made.
Please consider following me here on itch to get notified about the latest update. It would be amazing if i could get more feedback from you on the update.
Thanks again, your feedback means a lot.
nice potencial but its barely a game
yep😅 I'm still working on it, it really does have a whole lot of things to be added to it to make it an actual game with an actual purpose.
I would love your input on the update i'm working on.
Thanks for checking out Awkward Pong, it means a lot.
This was hard for me to wrap my head around how the game was supposed to be played. The visuals are sharp though!
Thanks for checking it out, means a lot.
I'll add in a tutorial, but that wouldn't have been much help on this current build though😂😅
Also thanks for noticing the visuals, i did spend an entire day on it, i kinda enjoyed that part the most... a little to much😅
Thanks for checking out Awkward Pong, and thanks a lot for your feedback.
An update will be up soon and i would love to have more of your feedback on it.
Thanks again.
I'm kinda lost on what the point of the game is?
I can just press R and the game survives forever.
It's single player so what else is the point?
Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see a game here.
There's also no audio.
The rotating 2 paddles could be turned into a game of course and there's great potential there!
Polariball on steam has a similiar concept but with magnets instead.
Very understandable, that was an issue i overlooked ( foolishly ). That issue has now been fixed and the game now feels a bit better to play.
There was also no system in place ( as of then ) to restart the scene on auto, something that has also been attended to and you're totally right, maybe there really wasn't a game there at the time i uploaded it and i'm sorry for putting up such a dry game at the time🙏
I am however working on an update and i would be more than happy to get your feedback on the new updates i'm making.
Also, i did check out polariball on steam, than for pointing that out, i was searching for a few games that made a unique twist on the original pong and found quite a few but this is a much better reference.
Thanks a lot for checking out Awkward Pong, your feedback is truly insightful.
Nice, hard to control but thats not a huge problem
yeah, its a lot harder when playing against yourself, the game then turns to you just trying to get a high score and that can get dry pretty quick so i'm working on a few more things to ensure that players really have fun playing both alone and with friends.
Thanks a lot for trying out Awkward Pong.
try my game to!
I can see the potential! You know, this game is pretty simple, but that's the game where a lot of its developer can come up with an unimaginable idea after. Can't wait to see the finish product!
Thanks for the feedback Seni-Kyu, i'm glad you had fun playing it.
Sadly i could only upload the single player cause the version with the local co_op needed a little more work and the game itself is severely under polished.
A better, much more polished version of the game will be out shortly after the voting for the Jam is over.
Thanks again for trying Awkward Pong.
I am playing against myself and losing all the time.. GOTY. Just polish the movements a little and add a little more fluidity to the game so that when I move it feels fast and fun.
alright, great!!
Thanks for the feedback and for Playing Awkward Pong.
I increased the speed but its applied through upgrades. I feel that would be a good choice, especially when talking about the co_op mode. But please, tell me more about the movement. Is it just the speed or is it slightly more than that?
I'd like to know how you would approach it.
I can definitely see what you were going for here, but the game lacks a lot of polish in a few aspects. Gameplay doesn't really evolve past what the original pong did. The only difference is that you control both sides, which I feel like defeats the purpose of Pong. My recommendation is to add features like powerups . Visually, it looks fine but lacks some potential VFX for when the ball collides with something. The complete lack of sound is honestly what breaks immersion and engagement the most. While games don't need to be realistic, most players are happy to suspend disbelief and engage with a game (even for games as simple as Pong). As such, when you break their expectations (such as adding no SFX for ball collisions or scoring points) it completely breaks the flow of the game. Some background music, even if just public domain or creative commons music off of freesound or pixabay, would also help to elevate gameplay
Don't feel dissuaded from the overwhelming negativity I've thrown your way - the best way to improve is to take on feedback and try to include it in your next project!
Thanks
I love how detailed your feedback is.
I actually started designing the game with two players in mind, but starting slightly behind schedule cost a little more than i expected. I am currently working on the power ups, local and online co op modes.
Currently, sound effects, particles, with some upgrades and some better looking UI are being worked and should be out right after the voting for the jam is over.
Thanks a gain for your feedback, it was truly useful and much more encouraging than you might think it is🙏🙏
Yooo, wait whose stopping me from just not doing anything at all lol
Co-op mode sure would be so much better
😂Thanks for the feed back and for playing Awkward Pong, i just fixed that issue and also worked on a local co op mode where you and a friend can play together.
Please try the game out again, i'd love to get more of your feedback on the game
The online co op mode will be up soon too so if you'd like to be informed on recent updates, please consider following me here on itch. Thanks again.
I was a little too late for the Update though (-_-)
