This is a very detailed and professional game design document. You have a very innovative angle of interpreting this theme, and the frame you present in this GDD is pretty clear. Things I would like to point out is you can try to develop your mechanic and narrative by focus more on citzen science or specific actions, like boycotting or protesting which can be unlocked after the sympathy pointed reached a certain level.
I really like how your game frames climate action around building relationships and motivating a community rather than making the player solve everything alone. The Paper Mario-inspired 2.5D style also gives the concept a lot of personality and helps keep the tone optimistic instead of overly bleak. I’m especially interested in how the hidden sympathy system will affect the town over time, since it could make small decisions feel meaningful without turning the game into a simple morality meter.
Very impressed that your team already has a working prototype to kick things off! I wished that there were a peek at the details on the activities the main character would be doing to work towards one of the multiple endings (unless it's a spoiler, lol). I also see some inspiration from Pixar's Hoppers, on going against a data center being built. Very curious to see how this'll turn out!
The day cycle, multiple endings, and Paper Mario-inspired aesthetic all come together to create a very cohesive vision with a strong climate message! I also really love the idea of "planting a seed" through community action rather than a literal lens. One thing I'd be interested in seeing more of is what the player's day-to-day tasks or minigames look like so it's easier to imagine the moment-to-moment gameplay.
A community simulator where you convince people to take climate action is a really strong idea in terms of appealing to the Climate Jam theme. With the prototype you built featuring the paper cutout-style characters, I can really see a very peaceful and chill game that I would spend a few hours playing. I am not a big fan of the top-down strategy game style in general, but this 2.5D approach seems perfect, bringing the best of both worlds. I think this idea has a lot of great potential. Cool game!
The paper cutout styling is very catchy. Big fan. The story also has a lot of potential. I also support the idea of cutting out the neutral ending, having to keep in mind another alternative ending in storytelling gets messy for some.
The concept is amazing! I like how it isn't over zealous of the theme and impact but a subtle yet impactful "planting" of an idea and habit that can be grown and make great waves in the community. I think this game fits great with this day and age; I apprenticed the awareness of "doomerism" and the aesthetic will help steer away from that, too. Though I do think revising the production plan slightly would be better since, given the nature of jams, having a playable prototype throughout the sprints instead of building the pieces one by one and merging at the end avoids many issues later on, especially in tight deadlines. Besides troubleshooting, it can help clarify and bring out better ideas.
The concept is cool, I like how the theme was interpreted in a metaphorical way! The art direction and production plan are very solid too. The only thing question I have is what function does money serve in gameplay?
I like the game's themes of getting the community together in order to better the environment. I think that it's a great take on the "plant the seed" theme. I think it's important for people to realize that seeing other people take action will encourage even more to do the right thing and cause a snowball effect. The Paper Mario visual style is really cute and fitting for the kind of game that this is.
I get a social satire kind if vibe with the concept, the unserious paper cutout style also seem to work super well with the concept. I see the plan to have different endings, if certain players intentionally or unintentionally end with a bad ending, I wonder what type of narrative can make sure they also learn from this experience! I would worry about the scope, but I also see the list for Things That Can Be Cut. You folks seem to be ready! :)
The art and tone you chose I think resonate well with your game's goal of healthy optimism and community action. You have a very clear idea of the specific issue you're discussing and I'd love to see more about what the player is organizing the community to do in regard to the data center. Are they going to urge the local government to revoke their building permits? Are they going to sabotage machinery to slow down construction? Will they appeal to the construction workers directly to abandon the project and join the community alliance against the data center? There are a lot of interesting routes you can go with it and I can't wait to see what the end product looks like!
The only concern I would have is scope, because when you have a branching story it can be easy to let it get out of hand quickly and you end up with too many endings or conditions you have to account for in the narrative.

I like this idea a lot, and it's similar to my team's game concept! The idea of having the seed have a metaphorical meaning ties into the Climate Jam well. I also like your team's idea for the art style, it's very cute.
I really like the concept and the prototype looks great! having a point system that the player is unaware of is an excellent way to portray real life!
i love the idea of going against instant gratification that comes with specifically video games showing what you collected. by having the sympathy points hidden from the player but affecting the day to day operations it helps get your point across
Great job on already having made a prototype! The aesthetics and tone make me very excited to play your game. I also appreciate how you thought about what can be cut depending on how development goes. I think the message that banding together to create change is great. One of the core resources you mention are sympathy points, but they are invisible to the player, so I wonder what happens if the player chooses money every time? Is it that if they choose only money that simply nothing changes or do they get to selfishly build something with that money?
I really like this concept because it explores a real-world issue through gameplay while emphasizing the importance of community. I'm curious about how the hidden "sympathy points" system will communicate the impact of the player's choices without making them feel invisible. I like the game concept I think it is really cute to combine the 2D and 3D together. I'm also interested in how the day cycle will work. Will there be enough meaningful choices each day to encourage different playstyles and replayability? That could make the multiple endings feel more rewarding. Overall, I think it's a strong idea with meaningful storytelling, and I'm excited to see how it develops.
Great, sad that it is in unity /lh
Genuinely the idea of an actual call to action along with community building is a concept that I want more games to explore and it seems to me that HamsterCatAlliance have that handled. I NEED more from this game SOON.
