I liked this one, though it is bit too short. If you are still supporting this game, can you add more bosses? They are fun, but just not enough of them, campaign ends too soon

Thanks a lot for the feedback :D

No need to apologize, I choose to take that as a compliment of the work, but no generative AI was used for code or "assets" that the game comprises of. I think that the fact that I used monospace UI might give people that feeling, which is just me running out of time and not getting a proper arcade font. That's at least my opinion, but not sure if you see something else :v

This is a HTML5/JS game, so anything that interests you can easily grab from the site by inspecting the page. I did not obfuscate the code in any meaningful way, it is all there for anyone to see. What you will just find a rushed (and hard to work with now 😭) game-jam code.

If it is related to the lack of engine, I answered someone else that you can do some cool things with Canvas. Particularly, you might enjoy a decade+ old example (similar physics, as well as the same mono UI element on the left). Hoping that more people will be interested in it, as it is not as daunting as people think :)

Thanks a lot :D

This is your first jam? Dang I was I was this good in my first jam! I very much enjoyed this. It's creative, polished, engaging, and simple. I have no negative things to say about this. Well done!

Developer

First game jam, but not the first coding project by give or take 15 years 😅. I wanted to try and do something I enjoy, and I haven't made video games since Uni days, so wanted to see what can be done in quite a generous amount of time.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, I really appreciate it! :)

This is absolutely one of my favourites I've played from this jam. The gameplay is so simple and intuitive, the idea is something i haven't seen before, it's super addicting and fun to play with loads of build diversity, the music is so impressive how you made it adaptive. the graphics are easy to see and understand and the simplicity fits this game, there's so much content, I could keep gojng on. Not much to criticise here, maybe show what round you reached in onslaught mode when in the menu? (it just says i survived for over 9 minutes but it would be nice if it said i survived 11 rounds too) This is likely a game I will continue returning to and I hope it does well when the ratings are revealed.

Developer

Thanks a lot :D I've been working more on updating it, making it a more complete arcade experience that I can hopefully replace this version with in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will be sure to include that!

Holy what an amazing game, this is what my game wishes it was, i was trying to make a roguelike like this, didn't have the time and its not a roguelike at this point, but this game is my favorite so far and i hope it wins the jam, insane potential too

Developer

Wow!!!! Thanks, you are too kind! Even more thanks for the person with the best cat profile picture I have seen on this site EASILY👏

I will be sure to try out your game in the coming days :D

Reeally fun, alligned with the theme and lots of content! Loved that every single one of my horde of little guys was blinking hehe

Developer(+1)

I am really glad you enjoyed the details, what few lines of code can do for the experience :D Thank you for the kind words 🦆

Really great game and exactly spot on with the theme. It reminds me a lot of the cell stage of spore, which was always a fun time. Great job!

Developer

Ah the nostalgia hit! Honestly I didn't even connect it with spore, but I absolutely see it :D

Thank you very much for the feedback!

Thanks, appreciated :D

REALLY good game, died at warden prime though, and am I looking at this correctly? you made this in HTML5, I can barely create a crappy website there, let alone an amazing game.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! :)

I think people underestimate HTML, not because it is powerful itself, but at the end of the day it is just a container. You can write very performant code using javascript rendered in canvas 2D.

https://codepen.io/soulwire/pen/DdGRYG This is a very old example of a very performant sim, you might like, written in it. Short, clean, understandable code can produce really fluid results. I hope that people can also look at it and realize it really isn't that daunting as it originally looks, particularly if you really like coding :) .

Sorry for the long reply 🦆 Just want to make sure that people aren't scared of the tools that exist, and sometimes a massive game engine that can create incredible things, is not needed, and a smaller scope and breadth of tools actually is a benefit. Fewer buttons, fewer abstractions, more control!

Hope that helps, best of luck in the jam!

Submitted

thanks, always wondered how people can make games in html and javascript, I actually started coding with that using p5.js, which is a javascript library

Did not expect a bossfight :D. The game felt very polished. I had a great time playing this!

Developer

Glad I surprised you :) Very happy you enjoyed it, I appreciate the feedback 🦆

Cool boss fights and a lot of variety in upgrades. Swarm is a njce twist on the genre too!

Developer

Thank you :D I am glad you enjoyed the swarm concept. I hoped it would feel rewarding to grow your swarm and powerful, but making it much more difficult to dodge with your mighty group.
