I really like how the game is coming together so far. The visuals especially stood out to me. The top-down, tile-based style looks really polished already, and I think it fits the game well. I also thought the inventory system looked clean and intuitive, and it seems like the functionality is already in a good place.
I think is crazy how much you have already done in this few first stages of development. The art and the gameplay have really good synergy to support the theme. It really gives "what if WALL-E would have been made for restoring the Earth's ecosystem?". However, I'm concerned with this Davin person who is doing all of the lore and dialogue.
Your decision to keep it as one biome and have a just a few NPCs and plants it's the right call. Content and feature creep will make the project fail. If you keep it as short as I'm seeing you are doing, this will be a great game.
The only concern I have is your audience. I might have missed it, but I don't think it appears nowhere in your GDD or your video. So far, I think it might not be a very accessible experience for younger audiences for the walls of text I'm envisioning in your lore, but I might stand corrected the next devlog you post.
I'm really curious about your gameplay loop. Best of luck!
I am really impressed at how much you already have in your game! It's a very lovely prototype and the UI elements already have a lot of polish that I wasn't expecting this early on! Amazing work and good luck!
The UI is very well done and reminds me of that one browser game called Motherlode. It feels like a diegetic part of the world and gives you useful and intuitive information without feeling too "gamey." The game's aesthetic and mechanical scope are very fleshed out and sets the stage for a very well-polished final product.
Very promising game so far! I love the art style and UI design. Your video is displaying some really cool mechanics! Looking forward to seeing how this game develops. Good luck!
Great progress made so far! The planting mechanic is the most unclear part of gameplay right now. The map looks very big so does that mean the player can only plant on the beach? How close do plants have to be to affect each other? The consequence for shutting down isn’t mentioned either. The player loses time but is there something bad that happens after a certain amount of time? Very ambitious project, I’m excited to see where it goes!
The game is looking really good I like the concept so far. The movement looks smooth I'm really interested on how the interactions would work on the final game iteration. I am very interested in seeing more of the lore about the past world. You guys have made a lot of progress so far looking forward to seeing the final game.
This is a really cool concept and is something that could go a long ways if done properly. I'm hoping there will be some story or mystery aspect to this game, as I think it could be cool if each biome expanded on what happened in the past to cause the earth to become ruined.
This is amazing. You all seem to have a big chunk of the actual game made. I really like how all the decisions made are very intentional and intertwine with each other. The synergy of the game is really good and something to be proud of. There are some parts like the biodome and inventory that doesn't seem too, intuitive so either clarifying it or adding a way to help the player learn it would be appreciated. This can be considered an ambitious project but the assets are amazing and the progress is remarkable. I look forward to seeing how your game turns out as well as how the game play progression looks.
the visuals are looking especially great, and this sort of top down and tile-based game is looking wonderful. the players inventory also looks great and the functionality is all there. the player being fully transparent with thin lines does make them blend into the background a bit, which is something that should probably be considered for the full game. i also noticed that hazards rather than enemies were mentioned, which to me implies that health as a resource will be less significant to this game, so with that major mechanic taking a backseat, its important to consider what the main resources will end up being, as that seems to be a major part of the game. good luck, looks good so far!
This seems like quite a large project, but based on the video, you seem on track to get it done. I suppose I'd like to know what exactly the player is going to be doing to complete the quests, since the game design document was a bit nonspecific in describing what the moment-to-moment gameplay looks like. I'm excited to see where this project goes!
