Man for your first game jam you did amazing man. Great job!

Really fun game :) i love the idea of controling more than 1 caracter at the time.

Submitted(+1)

i didn't have the issue that others did when it came to controlling, but i understand that not all keyboard have numpad. I will say though that, if you go back and work with this more, to add some sort of boundary to the play space so the little guys can't walk out of bounds indefinetly

Submitted(+1)

It is really good. Just i think those button sprites doesn't match to the litte guys drawings. Keep going my friend!

This is really good for your first game jam, keep it up!

Super cute little game, very well done for a first game jam!

Developer(+2)

Thankks alot for your kind remarkss! I will keep getting better!

Submitted(+1)

Very cute and fun, I almost had a brain aneurysm trying to control 3 characters XD

Submitted(+1)

Good game. The characters are, indeed, cute and the music matches the gameplay well.

I only wish there was an alternative control scheme for character 3,  IJKL perhaps.

Also, the game feels very punishing when one hit kills you outright. Maybe a character that gets hit could still be revived by the others?

(Or, if you wanted to go crazy and take the idea to its logical conclusion, why stop at 3 guys. Why not just keep adding them until you have to use every last key on the keyboard to control them all? :D)

Developer

Hey Cyriacus! thanks for playing my gamee, yes , I did indeed think of adding more characters but im not really good at pixel art and stuff, and the character animation and stuff were really time taking for me, so i kinda sulked on it,

About one hit killing you outright, I am planning to add health system for each lil goober to make it so that there's more concession and it would also create shift of focus to the character that has low health which can make you neglect another and then it all just snowballs and
CHAOS MWHAHAHA; ,erhm,yeah;

sidenote: there are four characters (at 180 seconds), the last one I added is kind of an easter egg, and it gets very difficult after that(even I've only got there 7-8 times during final playtestings)

O v O /// O _ O /// O o O /// IS THAT THE BITE OF '87???

I admit, when I first started I thought this was too easy. But then as the players started racking up, it actually got a bit more chaotic. The only problem was that it ramps up in difficulty to slowly T-T

P.S. I didn't think I would find someone who had almost the same idea as me here!!! What a surprise.

Developer

MUSICC MANNNNN  \0o0/

Yeah it does ramp up slowly, the balancing and trying to make it fun took me the most time ,  most of my spawning and gameManager code just didn't end up working so i decided to keep it simple , Ill have to learn what went wrong and maybe make it more dynamicc! thankss for playing, I will checkout your gamee in a bit too as yyou mentioned its almost the same idea

Cute game! The simple dodging concept was really elevated by the character introductions and designs. Delightful to have the little guys increase as the gameplay went on.

Nice job!

Submitted(+1)

Such a fun idea! At first I thought it was going to be simple and there wasn't enough going on, then the second guy came in and I got so surprised I didn't know what to do! I ended up just moving them together and thought nothing else could happen, there's no other way to control the guys, right? My expectations sure were subverted when I was bouncing between controlling 3 guys at once!

Developer(+1)

yeah playtesting it at the three player level is really what took a lot of my time, as I wanted to make sure it wasn't too difficult and was a bit balanced, really tried many wave models for the fireballs but just settled for a simple "more firerate" haha, Thanks for playing the game and writing about your experience!

Submitted(+1)

The idea is really cool! You can either go octopus mode and play alone, or ask friends, family or pets if you feel like it, to come help you out.

Developer

Yup definitely!  and to mention Octopus mode, the games core concept was actually inspired by the classic, "Octodad, Dadliest Catch!" and "Input Chaos" here's the brainstorm board!

I had to pull out a separate keyboard to play this game hahaha, that's what I like to see! Nice one!

Developer

Thankss for playing and rating my gamee! I really liked yours too, i played for quite long ngl.

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! Love it! I can feel my neurons making new connections trying to manage all the guys :D

Submitted(+1)

Super cute little game! I noticed that there are not wall surrounding the level, so the player can go out of bounds, but I haven't tested if the fireballs can hit them when they are out of bounds. All things considered I had a great time playing this :D.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

WAIT I COMPLETELY DIDNT THINK ABOUT THAT , THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK, I NEED TO FIX THAT ASAP

Submitted(+1)

This is super creative, wow. I absolutely love this so much. It is so to the theme and very unique, actual 5/5 for me. :)

Loved your game! I was about to say that the fireballs were too slow, but then you introduced the arrow keys little guy and my brain was melting (pun intended).  The text that explains the game as it goes along is super well made and I liked it. The art is cute and you can make them kiss by walking into each other. Love that. Overall a very solid game for your first game jam!

Things I didn't like: I, in fact, did not have a numpad. Shame on me

Developer

Yeah, I realized veryyyyy late that some keyboards don't have Numpad ;>
