Nice game, I really liked the mini games when you die, The BG effects are also nice, But i feel like the music doesnt really fit the vibe maybe consider something punchier, overaly good game.

If you have time, heres my game: /jam/godot-wild-jam-95/rate/4796157

This was a lot fun! I really liked that you had to play a little minigame to recover after you got hit.

Developer

Thank you I'm glad you liked it

80s space shooter x bullet hell? I'm all for it =)

I love the parallax star scrolling and the boss fight. Needed a lot of those mini games to stay alive though!

Very nice game jam entry you have here! Enjoyed it very much.

thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Nice game, I had fun with it! I found it on the easy side but I know players can vary a lot in skill for these bullet hell games. I wished it was a bit longer but I liked the twist boss fight at the end! It might also be nice to take a few hits before having to repair the ship, as suddenly being pulled out of dodging bullets to do minigames can be a little jarring. I think an autofire option would be nice too.

Good work!

Developer

thank you I appreciate it. I totally agree about the auto fire and I think a transition would definitely go a long way. I did actually think about adding a transition at one point but given my skill level this was already big crunch time for me so I had to sacrifice that.  I will definitely practice allotting time more properly for qol in the future.

Developer

also your game was so dang good you did a great job with the implementation of the concept

Interesting entry! I really liked the mechanic of interacting with the ship's instruments to repair it after taking damage.

One thing that could improve the experience would be some feedback while using the steering wheel. For example, showing how many turns are needed or adding some visual indication that you're doing it correctly.

Overall, I think it's a really nice modern take on a retro genre. Great job!

Developer

thank you, I’m glad you liked it. And yeah I think adding an indicator/bar to the wheel would have been a great idea and addition, goes to show what you miss without some proper play testing!

Almost didn't see the Spaceteam style mini-games-- which are a cute and unexpected addition to galaga

Developer

thank you.

I was such a gamer that I didn't get to see the little mini-games and finished the game but I love how the enemies get cycled back when you miss them! I had to try out getting hit to see what happens and it really is such a cool idea to do mini-games instead of dying.

lol thank you. I originally had the game much harder as I’m a bit seasoned on the bullet hell genre myself, but it seemed especially unwise for a game jam. I’m glad you liked it though. As for the looping I just had them as children on looping pathfollow2d nodes and it wouldnt send out the next wave/horde until it got a number of dead enemy signals equivalent to the size of the wave/horde

Having to do little tasks instead of getting a game over is really cool! I enjoyed this game a lot.

Great work, especially for a solo dev!

Developer

Thank you

super awesome! jackson sent me to play it. I really liked the transition in the background at wave 10, I noticed its color changed so I was curious and then the next wave I see IT. IT also beat me to death sadly but still it was really well made and fun!

Developer

thank you Mr. Mario I’m glad you liked it. I agree with what you told our friend about the wheel section needing some way to convey progress like a progress bar. Great idea and wouldn’t be hard to implement. Since it’s a game jam I think I have to keep it as this version at least until the voting is over, but I may add that when all is said and done.

Good Game  I liked that you had to fix your ship

Also how many waves are in the game I made it to wave nine

Developer

thanks, there are 10 waves. Wave 10 is actually just a boss fight though so you got very close!
