I love the look of this game! It feels really well polished and it's kind of crazy it's made of kenny and kaykit assets. I did have a few issues with the game though.
The first issue is that the movement was a bit annoying since it is based on facing direction.
The other issue is when I pause the game some of the spiders start spinning with their legs in place. Not too big of an issue just thought you should know if you want to fix it after the jam.
Finally, I don't think using in-engine draw functions is allowed in this jam. I remember reading a thread at the start of the jam about a question of whether you could use code to draw and I think kenny said it went against the spirit of the jam to only use the premade assets.
This is a really good-looking game, great job!
Hi! Thanks for playing my game! I replied to ur feedback in a general message since a lot of people also gave the same feedback. On the topic of in-engine drawing, I believe this is the community page you are referring to, in which Kenney just quoted the "make your own judgement" rule. My interpretation of the "spirit" of the jam is that its a jam where you rely solely on your programming and sound design skills, so you're not allowed to make your own assets. As a programming challenge I believe I definitely challenged myself to make the procedural animation on the legs and so I think it is with the spirit of the jam. Thanks again for playing!
Yeah, everyone interprets the "spirit" of the jam differently and challenging yourself is definitely spirit of every jam! The rules are a bit vague about what you can and can't do besides the assets. I guess my interpretation of the make your own judgement rule was that using in-engine drawing wasn't allowed but nowhere does it say specifically it's not. Sorry about the mix up, I'm not trying to blame you or your game in any way. If anything, the rules should be blamed for not being totally clear / answering all of our questions lol. You should be proud of the procedural animation! Hope you have good luck with placement!
