The update has improved the gameplay so much! I managed to beat it first try :)
I had one comment / idea: using the bumpers still feels a little frustrating. There's 2 solutions I can think of. One would be to slow the ball down when its in the lower portion of the screen (maybe by like 5%) - so that its not noticeable to the player, but makes it easier to hit the ball if its moving fast. You could also cap the ball speed a bit lower. The second way would be to add in some upgrades to make the flippers longer, or add in powerups to block the sidechannels and bottom. But these frustrations are part of what makes games like this annoyingly addictive!
This is a seriously impressive game to have made in only 9 days
I LOVE this game! One of my favourites of the jam, easily. Some notes:
If you work on this further (on itch or steam) I would love to play it - I really think this has potential and could be a great game!
I played a little more, and I think part of the issue with the flippers is they move to fast for Godot to keep up with: I've seen the balls go through the bumpers or not interact that intuitively a few times. Them moving this fast also removes the skill of timing the flippers to launch the ball in a specific direction
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Yeah, the physics is in a really bad shape right now, so it made the game way difficult and unfair to play.
Now that the jam is over, i'll be pushing an update with some tweaks, so hopefully it'll be at least a little better.
About the flippers: i was using a tween with .1 seconds... yeah.. lol. also the ball was using collision detection with the "cast ray" mode instead of "cast shape".
Besides that, i think the grid and machine layout is way to small and limiting.
But overall it was a really fun jam and i've learned a lot of things.
Thanks again for playing and for taking the time to provide feedback!
Okay perfect! Ill look out for a post or notification, and make sure to play when its updated :)
Well made pinball game but I hate the bumpers.
The bumpers are so wide. every time my ball just fall straight to the pit.
And also make the ball heavier
Great game! I loved the mix of plinko and pinball.
The polish and atmosphere of this game is incredible. Besides the physics issues already mentioned, the game feels so solid. Yes, the ball is fast, but its a vertical pinball game so I think it feels appropriate. (if you want vertical pinball irl, see if your local arcade has Banzai Run!)
The game reminds me of Balatro of course, but also a game called Backpack Hero with how the bumpers worked. Easily one of my favorites thus far, great job!!!
Very fun! The ui and animations are very nice.
You nailed the feel - everything felt super responsive and satisfying :) I would love to keep playing this game after you're able to fix the difficulty issues!
Pinball mix with that other carnival game... what's it called again? That's a fun combo. No idea where that ball was about to head to next. haha
i had to tap out on this one because every turn pretty much consisted of me launching the ball and it falling straight between the paddles. very cool idea though with good audio and aesthetic. i liked the juicy buttons too!! great job for a week of work
I love the concept! The ball might be a bit too fast for me, so I got a little frustrated at times, but I still had a lot of fun playing it.
Beosil (maker of Pixel Pacball) brought me here. This is a really cool pinball variation, that feels really polished.
My one complaint is that the ball was super fast when it reached the flippers and I rarely could react on time. But other than that it's really well done and I enjoyed it a lot.
The game looks and sounds pretty and the feedback you get for every input is very tasty! The clicking sounds of the paddles... There is however a problem with collisions, as everyone's said. The amount of times I lost because the ball went through the paddle was a little too frustrating, but the game is pretty fun! Hopefully it gets expanded when the voting period ends, I'd love to give it another go!
Thank you!
yeah, i'll definitely try to fix those problems and update it later, i got a lot of great feedback and tips.
Very cool art style and interesting mechanics added to pinball.
But the ball seems to be very fast and going through the paddles a lot. Are you sure you’re using continuous collision detection?
Thank you!
yes, but with "Cast Ray", maybe that's the problem, is faster but less precise.
game looks interesting but its bugged for me, all I see is a blue dot
I'm sorry, seems like this is happening in some browsers, I don't know why. For me it works using Chrome and Firefox.
that's weird, I'm using chrome
This is by far the most satisfying game I've played in this jam, even the menus are satisfyingly clicky!
One minor thing, the mouse detection for the item selection is a bit finicky, I think because they move when hovered.
Overall a great game, I had a lot of fun and made a lot of money :D
Thank you very much for playing and the feedback!
What's not to like about a good plinko game!
You nailed the art and progression. Fitting music choice And the juice in all of it is top.
The collisions and the flippers are a bit buggy for me. The ball got stuck a few times. Physics is hard! (I know too well, did a pinball game for this jam =)
Enjoyed it a lot! Congratulations on your submission.
Thank you! yeah, definitely is hard, this was my first game with this kind of Physics.
I'll definitely check your game too.
thanks for playing!
Everything about this just feels right. Great job! As blooopi mentioned below, there seems to be a bug in some browsers. Firefox worked for me, Chrome and Safari did not.
Thank you! that's so weird, i'm using Chrome too and it's normal. I'll try to look into it
Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback!
Would love to play and rate this but I'm stuck on a black screen with a blue bumper at the very start,,, maybe a bug? Or maybe I am doing something wrong?
I got that too. But in Firefox it runs fine!
I'm sorry to hear that, it seems like it's a problem with some browsers, as Drets mentioned.
I'm trying to see if i can fix it.
Amazing retro game! It looks feels and play really good!
This is super polished! Good job! There was once or twice when I feel like the ball phased through my bumper. Physics engines are always a little unpredictable :P
