Nice job! Reminded me of old flash games, loved the fake movie names and descriptions.

Great job! In some ways, I think it was distressing close to reality, pulling random stuff off the shelves because I didn’t have the right things in stock…

Fun game, with great writing.

Nice game, I had fun, it would be awesome for characters to show up, as we are handing out the vhs tapes. Overall great game

Developer

Thanks so much! Customer character art was a stretch goal we didn't get to, but I'd love to get that added in eventually as well :)

Very cool concept. Love the idea with a movie rental! It would be nice to have a bit more time per day. Overall good job!

I got asked for an “action” video, but supplying one with a fist didn’t work.

The game was then stuck until the timer ran out for the day.

It would be nice to have a “skip” mechanic

Developer

Ah, sorry you got stuck! Were they asking for multiple movies? Customers will accept any set of movies that match the amount they want (though they’ll be less happy if they don’t match their request).

Regardless, a way to skip the current request is a good idea!

I don’t think so? but maybe :S I tried several different movies on their own, and then clicking the till, and none worked. it just shook

I like the design and overall feel of this game, there's a lot to be loved here! The only gripe I could think of that I have with it is that it might benefit from a tutorial that shows you how to do this kind of stuff in-game instead of verbally being told by the manager. It took me quite a while to figure it out... but on the other hand that might be intentional design :)

Developer

Thanks so much!! And yes, great feedback - I'd love to add some visual tutorial screens at the start, maybe alongside the manager dialogue.

Amazing game! From the spoof titles to the blank VHS cover aesthetic, perfect!

Really loved this one, the drag and drop controls were really tidy (being able to swap them around on the shelves was a nice touch), and the art was great. Had a blast reading all of the spoof film titles, too. Nice work!

Very enjoyable!

Loved it! Really great system for serving customers, and classifying movies. And I really liked the idea of the radio telling you what's trendy for the following day!

Great job :)

Movie rental submissions UNITE!

Great job. Love seeing another movie rental game! You nailed the VHS box covers. The radio between levels was a really great idea and made me very nostalgic!

There's a lot of little details everywhere!

Hello VHS sister! I wish luck to your rental shop <3 Come take a look at RetroBlock while it's still in one piece ;D Good job!

This was a very unique game and I really liked the premise! The gameplay got a bit repetitive, but honestly that's not a huge problem for a game jam.

I enjoyed the premise of this game. I did have a game breaking bug on the second day. I clicked on the popcorn bag to look at the prompt again, and I couldn't click on anything else after. Every time I clicked something the dialog box just opened up again.

Thanks for playing! 📼 Sorry you ran into a bug, but truly thank you for letting us know. Thanks to you reporting it, we were able to identify it and get a fix in for it!

The latest version has that issue fixed if you’d like to try again. Thanks again!

Different kind of retro than most people picked, so that's bonus points for sure! Game has a lot of information to throw at you at the start but the gameplay loop helps you figure it out.

Love the crazy titles you got for all of the 60 movies in your universe ;)

love this take on the theme haha!

Glad you enjoyed it! 📼
