Theme Interpretation
The player can only move retrograde (i.e. backwards), and the game has a retro Windows 95-inspired presentation.

Excellent presentation felt like I was actual in the OS, I wish I was able to proceed past the third level but the player wasnt able to jump higher while moving than it was when stationary.
very solid entry! I like how you hit the theme with the old Windows OS and the backwards mechanic. Of course the old school art style and the music fit as well.
Platformers aren't really my thing, but I enjoyed playing! I thought it was a clever and well executed jam entry. Nicely done!
Fantastic stuff, an enviable amount of polish and aplomb! I'll definitely come back to this one after the voting period is over.
amazing jam game. you hit everything with this entry. so good!
Dude the nostalgia I felt with the windows 98 visuals was awesome! Such a fun game I just wish there were more levels!
The windows here are so cool! The vibe of the game is great and the controls are tricky but fair, which is a great setup for a challenging game. Managed to make it to the end (like 56 deaths later). Excellent work!
I feel like the thumbnail isn’t doing the great art/aesthetic of the game justice!
what fun! I managed to beat it, on the last level I noticed that i could skip the glass entirely if I just used as much space as possible on the initial platform and the middle bit, I felt like that was intentional and I had fun "breaking" things as intended. And the music was awesome, I never got tired of it. I was amazed how fast the odd controls felt intuitive. One thing I feel like you teed up but I never saw was a reason to use the backtracking or windows, I was anticipating levels where you had to enter and exit a level repeatedly (eg to go back to get a key). I assume that was a scope thing. Anyways, awesome work, I had a great time playing!
Not intentional at all, but I love that that's an option! A real Gordian Knot moment there. And you're right about the doors - this was originally intended to be a Metroidvania (or, at least, to have non-linear progression through some of the levels), but deadlines did what deadlines so often do. Thank you for playing!
Impressive entry!
You nailed the theme. Controls were frustrating as all heck though.
Gave up on the spiky level.
Thank you for the game ^_^
Music, art is great. I played it fully and all i can say is that i hated the disappearing glass.also sometimes i got confused with backwards movement. overall its an amazing game.
Nice work! Great sprites!
Thinking backwards is hard. The Windows 95 stuff is fantastic, you really nailed the theme.
Funny idea to make an OS. The gameplay and art is retro too, good job.
I enjoyed it, kinda struggled a bit with the controls but it was fun.
Cool Game!! honestly Backwards Movement is the only Thing Making it Hard lol.
Honestly The Mechanics and the windows theme implemation is very Great and can be called ACTUALLY a Retro Game if it was in the 90s.
when I read the description I didn't think that I'd have so much fun with this. I added it to my collection of this jam's favorites. There are are a couple of things this game does so right for me: The oldschool desktop presentation (I'm a sucker for fake / gamey / virtual desktops), the controls, while not intuitive, you quickly get the hang of it, the music and humor... all add up to a really cool result! the inspiring thing about "retro" is that is shows what different path games could have taken when controls conventions were not as established. thanks for the contribution!
Clippy! Just when you thought we got rid of him... This was a really great use of the theme, loved the Win95 aesthetics and the windows for each of the levels. The controls, though original were difficult to get used to. Interesting game design, and very well polished entry!
Interesting twist and enjoyed seeing clippy and the whole Win95 style
Really fun! I love the twist on a normal platformer that forced me out of my muscle memory a bit as someone who has played a ton of platformers. Cool that it bended my brain a bit! Really fun game great job!
Well polished game. I like how you presented different levels on different windows.
Personally not a fan of backwards movement but it is original.
Out of curiosity, about the windows 95 theme. Does something like this require licensing or is it ok to make something that looks similar? I wanted to use Windows theme in the past but assumed it would require licensing.
Thank you for playing! My initial thought was that the Windows 95 theme is so minimal, and so much a consequence of "make a DE theme that works with these sixteen colours at this resolution" that it would fall under fair use. Thinking about it more, though, perhaps I'm in more of a grey area than I first thought, so I've tweaked the theme for the post-jam release so that it's evocative, but more distinct.
Really great platformer, the artwork and music are a good match for the theme and the gameplay is challenging but fun. I found the default control scheme to be a little awkward so thank you for implementing a key rebind (it went to good use!)
