Please help :( I'm stuck at first puzzle (maim entrance) I do what I need to do but nothing happens, (SPOILER: I found the book, the radio and the frequency, but doing everything in order just do nothing) I see everyone talking about a guide, but the guide I saw in the comments doesn't look to talk about this puzzle.

I really want to play this since I love puzzle games, does anyone have any idea what am I missing please?

I REALLY like the idea of this game, but unfortunately the experience was kind of rough for me. I ended up having to use the guide to get anywhere, because the puzzles contradict themselves a bit with how they are currently set up. Like the calendar using using two sets of rules for which letters to take, or the phone showing 5 digits for a 6 digit code. The time limit feels like it hurt this demo just due to scope.

In terms of the audio, I found myself very much enjoying the music. Having an ambient bgm playing without the radio on is a good choice, though I found myself tuning into one of the two stations I found with actual songs cause they were great. Very much disliked the way the radio screeches into my ears while we're fiddling with the knob in-between however. Mixed with the dial controls being a bit finnicky, I spent more time getting hit with static than I'd like. (ALSO! While turning the dial, Al's wrist sometimes goes over the tuner display. Made it hard to tune into a certain frequency if it was in the wrong spot.)

While it feels it needs more time to cook, I very much enjoy the potential I am seeing here. Hoping news about Bat FM! crosses my way again in the future. A little smoothing over and this game could absolutely rock.

This game has some extremely high potential. A puzzle game, set around a radio all themed around bats is so good.

The puzzles were all close to fantastic, but often felt that one tiny bit so slightly obtuse, and a lot of them felt like they could be fixed with the smallest of adjustments.

(Slight puzzle spoilers below!)

For example, i think if the days in the calendar were just represented by the first letters of their name (or their full names with the first letter capitalised) and the names were stylised like J.bloggs things would have been a little less cryptic. The phone puzzle could have been easier if it was more obvious it was a 6 digit code, and perhaps even just giving the first digit as a starting point would have helped there.

But overall I liked this a lot. It has a lot of style. Things you can interact with just jiggling about makes everything you need to look at very apparant, which is good game design. Lovely work to you all, this was lovely!

Hi, thank you for the high praise! Our artist and musicians definitely provided a lot of flare to our little game. Glad you enjoyed the puzzles we set up and we’ll definitely take all the feedback we’ve received during this jam to improve what we do with the idea in the future (we’d really like to properly realize it!) and ensure we provide the correct clues and tools so the player isn’t left guessing on a path forward!

Once again, thanks for the positive feedback, happy we could deliver a game you enjoyed well enough!

The best so far when it comes to the theme. Using the radio as a key-lock part of the puzzles was a great touch. But I agree with most people here in saying that the puzzles were escape room level. Just a little tough unless youre really into interpretation for meaning games. Still, loved the style and the theming.

Hiya, thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed our interpretations and uses of the jam theme! Happy to know the visual style is hitting with a lot of folk, though we wish we could’ve put a bit more work on the environments to push it that extra bit more!

Nonetheless, appreciate the thoughts and the feedback!

I love the first couple of puzzles a ton and this immediately became my favourite "codebreaker" style game I'd played in the jam so far. I love the aesthetic and breaking things up between 2D and 3D was fantastic cos it make it SUPER clear whats interactable and not.Though the boiling effect while entering in the breaker password was a bit neausating up close.

However it did fall over a bit with the phone. SPOILERS BEYOND

Because the phone screen resets after displaying 5 digits it made it look like we were after a 5 digit code. I had found posibilities with 4 and 6 notes - but nothing with 5 so I kept hunting. I had to use the walkthrough to figure out what was going wrong. I will say that even knowing the safe puzzle I can't physically do it cos the tuning knobs are so fiddly.

But yeah generally good game and I super enjoyed the first half a LOT so I still gave it a high rating.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We tried to slow down the boiling for when it was up close, but I reckon it probably could’ve been slowed down a bit more to avoid disorienting the player! Likely would add an option to disable it, if we had more time! Glad you enjoyed what we went for with the visual separation, though!

We did realize a little too late the multiple shortcomings of the phone puzzle, but by that point it was a little difficult to rework how it was built. I’d definitely provide more clarity in the visual feedback and match up the sounds better, at the very least.

Thanks a lot for the playthrough and the rating!

i had such a hard time doing any of the puzzles here and it really felt like everything was barely related.
the thing that made the most sense was figuring out the breaker puzzle

everything afterwards felt really tangentially related and a lot of "i would never have figured that out"

Hey, thanks a lot for trying out our game, very appreciated!

Due to some of the crunch we had to go through, we couldn’t provide more clarity in showing what was related to what, to the player. I do think we needed some more introductory puzzles to get the player into the right mindset with connecting pieces together, but such is the fate of jams! Things to learn for the future!

I don't know why but i couldn't get into the building :/ I had my radio turned on, volume on 100% and GSRN frequency and it just said that the doors are locked qwq

Developer

Heya! Sorry to hear you ran into that issue :(

We’ve seen one other case of someone else having this problem and they had to switch browsers for it to work. They switched from Opera to Chrome, in this case. Really sorry about this inconvenience, hope you can try it in a different browser and it works for ya!

This game really does hit that vibe of old playstation games, from the music, visuals, and down the gameplay. I won't lie tho, the puzzles felt a bit unintuitive to me and while I really tried my hardest I had to sneak peek at the walkthrough (thank you so much for posting it!).

Thanks for playing our game! I’m glad you enjoyed the vibes and got what we were aiming for with it!

Absolutely agree on the puzzles being a lil too cryptic to start, things to learn and take for the future.

--- WALKTHROUGH | ONLY USE IF STUCK (or if you don't like my puzzles ;w;) ---

There is a reception desk which has a PHONE and a nearby CALENDAR on a wall, there is a small closet nearby containing a POWER LEVER locked with an 8-LETTER COMBINATION LOCK as well as a ROTARY SAFE on a table, and there is a STAR BUTTON next to a door a distance behind the reception desk

Examine the CALENDAR on the reception desk and look at the starred date to learn FREQUENCY 92.9, which can be tuned into using your radio

Correlate the numbers given in FREQUENCY 92.9 (12 7 16 1 9 20 27 3) with dates on the CALENDAR, using the first initials of names and the first letters of day of the week otherwise, to discover the code SHOWTIME

Use SHOWTIME as the answer for the 8-LETTER COMBINATION LOCK to unlock the POWER LEVER and flip it on

Examine the now-lit PHONE and dial the 6 buttons whose tones correspond to the tones played in FREQUENCY 92.9 (294904) in order, observing the three pairs of numbers which light up on the screen (29 49 04)

Open the ROTARY SAFE by using your radio to tune into the three frequencies correlated with the three pairs of numbers observed in the PHONE puzzle (29 49 04) and claim the AUDIO CONTROLS inside

Press the STAR BUTTON to hear its tones, and then use the AUDIO CONTROLS to play FREQUENCY 92.9 in REVERSE to open the nearby door and complete this demo!
