5/5 I'm going to replay that after the jam, like seriously, this is one of the best jam games I played. My ONLY complain would be that it's HAAAAARD and I often die at save 5 or 6 before really being able to do my upgrade build I want to do. The letters marking in green when typing the names or the robots is excellent but sometimes when it turns back to white it confuses me if I did not start typing this name or if I messed up a letter haha. Not mentioning that art and audio are also PEAK, maybe would have like more clear and satisfying sounds when marking targets and launching special protocols, but this is me finding the tiniest thing in masterpiece of a jam game.

Had a blast playing this, stunning work for 10 days. Ultimate banger.

YYNeko is apparently working on a more full version of the game. So that is something to look forward to if you enjoyed Signal Siege. (Hard to say how long development will take though...)

W game - just needed instruction on how to use the abilities but did not impede my rocking out

Really solid little game! I love the amount of detail / polish – it’s fun that Dot types along with you, and that the background matrix-text-thing’s colours and the graininess of the room change with hull damage (… which my single-digit-wpm self discovered very quickly lmao …). A sweet and simple core game premise executed very well!

I cleared the game on my sixth try! The difficulty curve ramps up a bit around wave seven but I think it is fair. Some powerups seem to be much better than others, specifically the ones that recover health. The ones that scramble the words might be more detrimental than helpful? My muscle memory for typing kept trying to hit Ctrl+A -> backspace to clear a word so maybe it would be nice to have that in the game.

The music and 3D art are nice. I was hoping Dot would get to drink a soda when I win.

Played this one on stream! I really like typing games like this because I can type pretty fast myself (about 85 wpm at best measurement). I capped out at wave 8, dying to the 9th wave. The premise is really fun, and part of me hopes this becomes an actual game release! I didn't realize you had to type the active commands in to get them to work, so had a bit of trouble in my first set of waves. Super neat, super cute, loved my time with it!

Hey there Acrum, I watched your Stream on playback (wish I could catch it live). I was responsible for the 3D character models (our Programmer Mao did a fantastic job on the gameplay). Thanks for playing the game! Just wanted to answer some of your questions:

  • The name of the mouse is "Dot". I squeal with joy every time someone calls her cute.
  • If I recall correctly, the Medals are for "Completing the Wave, Not Getting Hit, Getting a Score of x2 the amount of enemies". You get a score bonus for Terminating more enemies at once.
  • HALT, OBLITERATE and other extra abilities do not reset their cooldowns between waves. Their CD needs to tick down in game time, so try not to waste them.
  • Gate Health carries over waves, so conserving its HP is important.
  • You CAN beat the game. It's just a bit hard and requires the right upgrades and high typing speed. Eventually all waves will end and get you a final score and congratulations text.

I think those were all of your questions?

Thanks for the valuable feedback - I've been writing down all the issues people had and suggestions. They are extremely helpful! We should've playtested the game a bit more, but we ran out of time.

As for the future of this game... hard to say. It turns out we have different approaches to it, so we might get 2 different Typing Games out of it, in different genres, but still Typing Games.

Thanks for streaming it!

ohh the music is banggerrssssss waooowwwwww

this one is very challenging for me since i am notoriously prone to typo and also dyslexic lmao
but this is really fun for me! reminds me of my childhood era of plying typershark XD
i love the upgrade system twist! its also funny when i panick typing my upgrade ability whhwhwhw

on my first run, it took me a while to realize that i have to -terminate- the marked critters, i only realized that on the 2nd wave after reading the description hwhwhw

Despite my dyslexia, I still enjoyed this game! I kinda folded once words with the length of "frequency" were introduced, but still fun overall!!

Very cute visuals and a fun idea! I enjoyed this one a lot! I think it needs a bit more tutorial for the first run. It's not clear that you need to TERMINATE them.

Still - very cute!

Really liked this take on typing games, I feel like knowing which upgrades to get is a big part of winning! I think I got to around wave 7 before I lost, gets really intense after a while!

I missed that you activate abilities by clicking on them - I feel like maybe an improvement there could be letting you type out the name of the ability itself so you don't need to move your hands off the keyboard. Also being the weirdo I am I found myself trying to hit the up key like in an actual terminal to repeat words I'd entered before for that one ability that has a chance of copying a cleared word onto another enemy.

Overall really good presentation! I'll need to try and learn how you did the custom stuff around the edge of the actual game like the title and matrix pattern, really helps the game feel more polished.

i think i was really bad at this game because i'm tired, and also can't spell

Regardless, it was certainly fun and a very unique concept!

Hello I still love this game. I feel like I am pretty good but I die around level 5 - I gotta lock in and work my upgrades better. I’m gonna be back for more!

I do have some more feedback on improvements but overall love it to bits!

-Words under to abilities icons at the bottom cos otherwise its hard to know what abilities are still in cooldown. Maybe a sound cue when an ability returns too?

- Explain terminate is a command. I figured it out quickly but it could be a tiny bit clearer

-I would love an error sound on entering a word the system doesnt recognise so that you know when you make a typo

Best typing game since Typing Of The Dead! I also really like the roguelite skills you earn. Its a genre I haven’t really delved into but I’m happy this is my first introduction to some  elements of the genre.

Absolutely stellar entry. The hacker space feel is so spot on. All the words being short feels so cool and efficient but theres the tasty tradeoff of TERMINATE being so long. Love it love it love it. Amazing presentation too. The 3D model looks so cool and the music and sounds fit the vibe so well. I love all the typing sounds and the time slow on HALT is so cool. Oh yeah AND all the upgrades too?! What an amazing package. My only wish would be able to see purchased upgrades (especially typeable commands.) I kind of like that the cooldowns extend between rounds too cos you can’t just count on having everything refresh automatically.

Honestly, the game is still my favorite (testing and otherwise). I usually never like typing games, but, Mao, your coding skills are epic. Relaly nice job!

The secret is to make every single system a singleton so you don't have to think hard about referencing.

Talked about this over livestream already, but you've nailed this!!!! The critique I will harp on is remember gamers are dumb! we if at all possible, make your "tutorial" overly direct, the initial experience not realizing terminate was a command sucked a lot XD, but once I got that figured out, it was great! the other comments here seem to touch on having a simmular issue with abilities, so likely a UI element showing possible commands that can easily be glanced at at all times would help a lot. but going forward just try to leave time to test and more importantly, have someone playtest the game to give quick feedback on issues like these where it's obvious to a player but not to the dev X3

All of that said, you're that close to a game that would likely do well outside of a jam. Great job!

The idea of this is so simple but so good. Its super fun! I will agree with a comment I did see, that its hard to keep track of the abilities you need to type out. Otherwise, i LOVE the aesthetic, it reminds me a lot of atlyss. Super cute and super fun! Good job guys! (also the music was really good too)

A critique: As the game is mostly played by keyboard, having to switch to the mouse to select powerups breaks my flow.

That mouse has the boobies! XD

Yeye, added to my list. Thanks for playing!

:D really fun. it'd be helpful to see what i was typing a bit better and a reminder of what my abilities are.

Ah, maybe some tooltips to hover over would be a good idea. I just hate UI work. Thanks for playing!
