Been a while since I played a liquid puzzle. The puzzles seemed pretty good. The variety fills out the content well and didn’t feel repetitive. B2 took a bit to figure out and I had to write down the fractions, but the rest were doable mentally.

For dialogue changing visible_characters_behavior to Characters After Shaping to make text wrap to the next line without moving words halfway through makes it much easier to read and looks better.

There’s a small bug where the pipe out becomes unselectable if you click it while dragging a pipe.

The art is a little too noisy for my tastes, but it is interesting to look at. It would be nice if the size and goal fractions could be shown somehow without hovering over the container so that I wouldn’t have to keep hovering back and forth to see which is which.

Overall felt fun to play. Good work.

Incredibly thorough thoughts, thank you! The tip on handling visible_characters is great, the way text moved around did feel 'off' to me, but I didn't really know what to do about it. Turns out you can just do that!

Honestly kicking myself a bit for that one bug, I was aware of it and kept deciding to put it off because it was easy to just avoid and fixing it would've involved untangling some unwise code decisions made in a rush. Turns out several people have run into it, and if I'd fixed it I would've had no major bugs at all as far as I'm aware. (Just dubious behaviors like the visible characters thing, ie 'not a bug but less polished than ideal')

Thank you a lot for your thorough thoughts on the game!

A great pumping water puzzle.

At first I do not know what to click first but I finally figured it out.

Tho the audio settings, whenever I tweak the slider a screech sound can be heard and it is causing me quite the discomfort.
Overall it is a pretty neat game.

This is really interesting!  I've never seen this concept in a puzzle before.  One thing that would have been nice was just seeing all the pump steps happen with a little delay in between so you could reason about it a bit easier.  Nice work!

Very interesting concept and nice execution. I liked the graphics and sound. I managed to get to the second to last level but then I couldn’t figure it out.

I didn’t really understand what the point of the valves was, as you can just remove pipes instead?

I usually don't download jam games, but I saw your posts about it in Discord and gave it a try. Was worth it!

Had fun figuring out the puzzles. And I like your art style.

Great game jam entry you have there!

I enjoyed the game and was able to finish it. The audio settings are a bit weird, when they're almost at 0 the audio is still pretty loud. The container sizes were confusing to me at first, and most of the time was spent thinking on how to get a certain size. I also found a bug where if you connect a pipe to another pipe slot, the first pipe slot gets bugged and can't be used until you reset the level.

i really liked it!
ngl, i got a little consufed with the relative calculus, with 1/12, 2/3 and so on, but i made it! :P

I love these liquid volume type puzzles, and these were really good! I think maybe the targets for starting/stopping pipes were a little finicky, and the music got a bit repetitive, but overall this is a great entry.

Thank you! I saw you playing the game, the 'points' in the boxes were only meant to start pipes, you were supposed to click anywhere else in the box instead to end them, so that's what happened there. I never explained that, though. Honestly if I had even *considered* the possibility of somebody thinking to use the points as endpoints too I would've made that nicer. But it's hard to consider people might attempt to play in ways you can't even conceive of, bit of a blindspot that always bites me. I thought I'd avoided that this time by making *both* click-and-hold-dragging pipes and click once to start and click again to end both work, but alas.

OH! That makes SO much more sense! Yeah, I kinda assumed that the nodes were both start and endpoints and was wondering why me clicking on them wasn't always working haha.

I think it's kinda instinctual. If there's a circle that I click to start from, and the thing I'm dragging to also has a circle, then the first assumption is that's where it goes. Maybe you could do a color coding thing and have (for example) red circles are outputs and blue are inputs, and while you're dragging an output, the inputs all have a tween to pulse it to really drive it home "hey this is something that can take that output!"

Developer

That would've been ideal yeah, definitely going to try and remember 'please stop for a second and make sure the exact way you're supposed to interact with this is made very clear' to my mental checklist
