Creating the game for the first time and as solo is a great way to learn! I respect for that!

However, I find it too similar to the game called Imago from previous Melon game jam, but since it's your first game jam, I highly doubt you would copy someone's ideas!

Listing some very small problems:

1. The player keeps falling behind the scenes if jumped too high. I had the same issue before, but this can be fixed with using another approach (linear velocity I believe)
2. As some comments state, the player keeps sliding, and it was a little annoying to fall because of that. Additionally, I recommend you to increase the speed of the spark (maybe add that feature in the settings?)

The game could be further improved by adding other entities which can burn and disappear. Not implying that this mechanic should be implemented first, but you could add some!

A very decent job developing this game, and good luck in other projects!

Hey, thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to play the game and write all of this.

I actually hadn't seen Imago before, but after checking it out, it's really interesting that the ideas ended up being so similar

The issues you mentioned are really helpful too. The falling behind the scene was something I noticed, but I didn't have enough time to properly fix it before the deadline. I was actually already using linear velocity for the movement, but I think the issue comes from how I handled the player's movement limits.

The sliding was intentional because I didn't use a single fixed speed value, I used a maxSpeed/minSpeed approach where the player accelerates and slows down instead. However, I agree that the current implementation makes the movement feel a bit too slippery, so it's definitely something I'll improve in future projects.

I also really like the idea of adding more things for the spark to interact with, there are definitely a lot of ways the mechanic could be expanded.

Thanks again for the kind words and suggestions! This was my first game jam, so I'm really glad I could learn a lot from making it. Good luck with your future projects too!

Nice gameplay and level design! The graphics and colors look great, and the idea of having the spark stay lit is just brilliant. The sound effects are also well done.

However, I think the game would benefit from some overall background music. I also found the movement sensitivity a bit too high. The character keeps sliding after releasing the button, which makes it difficult to stay on platforms because it doesn't stop as quickly as expected.

Other than that, great work and very original!

It was kinda innovative to find platforms using the spark, but I kept falling the moment i moved my mouse TwT but good work , it was something new and creative.

I'm glad you found the game unique. A design solution has been implemented where you can hold the left mouse button to freeze the spark, which should help you control it more smoothly. Thanks again for playing!
