Hello! Can I ask why the cover counts as one of the 4 pages worth of space we’re allotted? It seems like part of the appeal to doing an old-school paperback inspired module is having an old-school cover (if you so choose), but then you have to give up 1/4 of your writing space. I’m sure there’s a reason and I’ll work within bounds, but I was curious why.
This is something we were torn about last year. While I agree that cover is a big part of the appeal, we found that the 4 page limit contributed to the creativity of the modules in a big way. This year we considered making it cover plus 4 but then it wouldn't have been as easy to print and play. Also, since this stuff is distributed digitally, the first thing people see is the itch page, which become the equivalent to the store shelf. A lot of participants last year simply created a cover to sit there and it seemed to achieve the effect of selling the old book vibe before the module was even downloaded.

So, as I understand it, the criteria for qualifying is as follows:
Is it a TTRPG Module (Heist, Point Crawl, Puzzle , Dungeon, etc.)?
Is the module limited to four(4) A5 pages or less?
Did the participant avoid generative AI usage (not likely provable unless they state it outright for some reason)?
Obviously judges would disqualify these outright of if those aren't met. However, as the voting public, should we avoid reviewing any entry that would not qualify to avoid tainting the ratings on the public favorite prizes?
Yes, I would encourage voting to follow the rules of the jam. While I admit this isn't exactly enforceable, I believe that most people will approach judging with this attitude and we shouldn't see something that doesn't follow the rules rise to the top of the charts. If that happens we can discuss it as a community.

but is it possible for you to move it ahead (in the next years) by half a month or a full month (or elongate the submission deadline by a month)?
i just finished my entry for the 1pagedungeon (dungeoncontest.com).
and since the middle of july the itch.io 1sheet rpg jam is running (which i try to submit, too).
so i cant possibly join yours as well, even though the theme is right down my alley.

But would that be kosher? I'd prefer to upload it now, but of course I won't if that could be considered outside the rules. I'm not clear if updating my file counts as submitting late, or if I need to wait until all the judges have gotten the version I submitted before midnight, etc.
Not a big deal either way, but I wanted to know. (And if it matters, I would have gotten it in before midnight if not for the outage!)
