Cleverly made puzzle game. I really like the playable character's design

Developer

they're name is penny :)

Well executed, reminds me of some the gym puzzles in pokemon.

This game is pretty cool! The loading screen makes me curious as to how you made it. One of the rooms really reminds me of one of the puzzles from Snowdin in Undertale. The art looks great and the chess influence is great! The pawn really makes you rethink how some paths. Pretty good puzzle game, good job!

Developer

yea the puzzle is a 1:1 copy of the snowdin puzzle, for the loading screen are you referencing to the quick black swipe transition?

Submitted

I meant the loading screen of the web build. It's not the one for Godot or Unity, and I'm wondering what was used to make this (underground engine, framework etc)

Developer (1 edit)

Ohhhh, that would be gamemaker! Same engine as undertale and deltarune, the loading screen looks like that because the new web exports do that since they got bought out by opera

What a well made puzzle game! I love the little sound on the ice when you slide over it, it's perfect! The movement is a bit clunky, like the animation is nice, but because of the slow movement and the delay, I feel like I double input a lot and go one side too far. When you're on ice and you press again, you fall off once you get there, I think it's just a bug :p

Great game! I got stuck on the puzzle with 2 pawns where you start in the zig zag ice path, I tried but got no idea how to beat that without it breaking

Anyway, wel done on this one :)

Developer

yeeee, all those issues are fixed on the build that i'm going to upload after the rating period, the old buffer system SUCKED, there's also gonna be a new 1x 2x 4x speed toggle

Fun and well executed!

Submitted(+1)

This game was fun and well executed ! The only thing that I didn't like so much was that we don't have any visual feedback to know which tiles will fall. I imagine that it was a design decision and I respect that, but I admit that I would prefer a more predictable puzzle playstyle than this die and retry-ish system.

Anyway, everyone have his own preferences, and you did a great job : the visuals are good, the sound design is great, and the gameplay is pretty clear and well balanced in terms of difficulty.

Great job !

The bottom left has a button for a discrete overlay to view the durability remaining on the tiles without holding shift, though I do plan on adding a visual indicator of them breaking that doesnt involve numbers

Submitted(+1)

Oh I didn't notice that feature sorry ! Yes I think that a visual indicator could be great, at least to know that eventually this tile will break.

The disappearing tiles make every move matter, and the puzzle ideas build up really nicely. I liked how the tutorial explains things without dumping too much at once, and the later levels gave me some great aha moments. The art and sound work really well together too.

Submitted

A very creative game—I really enjoyed it! The art and sound design complement each other perfectly.

Submitted(+1)

Nice puzzle game, you could consider having the numbers displayed as default, as most players will hold the shift button to see the numbers most of the time

Submitted(+1)

Wow. Amazing game. Would really like to see a full version of this. The tutorial ingame is such an easy way to understand everything without overstimulating the player. Clearly a 5/5 in every available category for me.

YOU CAN'T FOOL A FELLOW DELTAROTTED LIKE ME!

At first i saw the animated scrolling background and said "that's just a coincidence, it's a simple background"

Then I saw the heart shaped level "another coincidence"

THEN I SAW THE EXACT TILE-BY-TILE SNOWDIN ICE PUZZLE PATTERN! HAHAHAHAHA (if my pattern recognition activated for that, that means I'm in too deep and passed the point of no return brainrot i guess)

Anyway that's not at all a critique, i really loved the game and you introduce very original concepts to the classic ice sliding puzzle! Great job, keep it up!

Developer

Didnt think of the connection at all with the background lol, but yeah the ice puzzle was a joke for those who know, i didnt initially try to take the ice mechanic from undertale, i made the ice and then thought "wait this literally works like the ice in undertale"

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, i mean, ice sliding is a very common trope, it's not like undertale invented it at all. Anyway i then finished the game, the later levels are way way better than the first ones, they force you to think multiple moves ahead, and definitely has that "aha!" moment that puzzles should look for, great job!

interesting concept and execution. i like the difficulty curve and the level design. good work!

Submitted(+1)

Good game

Submitted(+1)

Nice levels!

Submitted(+1)

Wow, super satisfying working out the puzzel and being left with only the final move to the goal. Lovely game and appreciate the thought that went into the level design.

(+1)

cool game, sound design is dookie

Submitted(+1)

I died an embarrassing number of times to the pawns despite learning exactly how they move and attack half a dozen levels prior. I liked the level with the knights where they slowly take each other out until you only have the one remaining knight to deal with.

Developer

that level has multiple solutions in one of them two of the knights survive!

Submitted

Great puzzle design! Avoiding enemies was a very fun navigational challenge.
As for constructive criticism, I think it would have been great if there was some way to see the tile durability without holding shift.

Developer

there is! theres a discrete durability view button at the bottom left it's a toggle, i didn't say it in the tutorial tho so fair that you missed it

Submitted(+1)

Neat little puzzle game! The mechanics are straightforward but the level design is well done. The last few levels took me a few tries, but I never felt I was stuck, i.e. just the right amount of challenge! One of the best puzzle games I've played in the jam so far. Well done!

very creative and fun game. would love to see this game in the mobile playstore so I can keep playing this game

Developer

I'm actually working on a mobile port!!!
