This is an amazing game, probably one of the best I've played so far in the jam! I really enjoyed having to think with all 3 chess pieces (this is the only version of chess I'm good at lol) and finding the solution to each level by just the right amount of moves is really satisfying. Add in some more levels, animations, and polish, and this can be a full release!

Nice to know that utilizing the right chess pieces for specific levels really clicked. I had some doubts and hesitated a lil bit before because I wasn't sure if a game with this kind of concept could work, but I'm glad it clicked!! hehe

As a chess fun i enjoyed going like "TAKES TAKES & TAKES", that's an interesting idea, you combined restaurant management with chess and counting down.. I'd suggest adding music, it will improve the atmosphere.

Yeah, I was tired at the time and wasn't able to find a fitting music for a chess like puzzle game on time, so I figured silence could maybe work hahah. But yeah, extra audio like a fitting BGM could really help make things more immersive.

Now this one was a wonderful surprise. As a horrible horrible chess-player, this let me feel like a SuperQueen, and gave me that power fantasy.
The imagination on the set dressing is lovely. I think everyone agrees we'd love to have seen more of that make its way into the assets, but you know, gamejam. :)
I'm not sure if I just was good at chess or if you did the great designer work of making each stage forgiving with multiple ways to succeed. I'd like to just believe that I'm good, so nice work there.
The game was free of bugs and I had zero issues with my inputs. I think a little more flourish and reinforcement would make each of these moves feel really snappy too.

Some of the forgiving design is intentional, especially in the early levels, I didn't want it to be too punishing and made those levels to have multiple ways that can be solved, so i'm not restricting the player's creativity, but honestly some of it might just be you being better at chess than you think! Really appreciate the note on move feel too, more juice or impact (besides the thud sound) might really make every move more snappy and impactful.
Fun idea and fun to play! Would be nice to see more of the restaurant theme in the artwork to make it feel like the story not just the mechanic. Like the people sprites at tables, maybe empty/still eating tables could be the gaps/block movement, chess pieces wearing aprons and some crowd ambient noise with restaurant music. Even a bit more art around the sides to look like a restaurant. (Happy to do some art if you want to update it later) Great job in the short time of a jam though!!
Yeah, I reallty wanted to include the restaurant/diner 2D assets but lacked the time to do it.

I play chess all the time. This is a great take on the game. I think it could be used to help people understand the movements of the pieces to improve their chess game. Good job.

Wasn't the original goal but honestly a nice bonus if it ends up teaching people those chess moves.
