How does your game fit the theme?
The game revolves around beating a set amount of levels before the time on the hourglass runs out. After completing one round of levels, you get to choose one of three powerful upgrades, which will make future rounds easier. The catch however is that these upgrades will reduce your maximum time for each round. How far can you get before time runs out?

YAY! Another dev with similar mechanics; great minds truly do think alike!

Jokes apart, while our games do have similar core mechanics, I am in awe of your execution. The crunchy graphics, amazing DMC-esque enemy designs, and quite a banger bg track!

Wish you the very best for the jam.

I made it to 64 rooms!

I think other people have already mentioned most of the things I wanted to say, so I'll just add that I had a great time. Getting about half an hour of fun out of a jam game is impressive. After that, the gameplay starts to feel a bit repetitive, but for a game jam entry, it's really well done.

The only odd issue I ran into was that sometimes, when I was pressed against a wall, I couldn't jump. It might have something to do with wall collision or friction.

Other than that, everything was awesome. Great job!

That was fun. Making a 3D game in 4 days is mad work. Thank you for making this :). The art is pretty sick and the music fits nicely. The idea is also pretty cool. Its a little on the hard side I guess but ive never been good at speed running games. other than that. Well done :)

Developer

Thank you for enjoying it :)
We're adjusting some parts of the initial difficulty for a future update, feedback is always appreciated :)

Nice controls, I enjoy the parkour!

This was such a nice, polished, and complete experience I really don't have much to add, and I don't want  to seem nitpicky, but I do have some feedback. The game does get too easy after a couple of upgrades. I didn't continue getting them, but the enemies quickly stopped becoming a problem after the homing and extra projectile upgrades.  Also, a confirm button on the upgrade would help me, who was in such a flow state trying to get to the next level I bought an upgrade I didn't need. Finally, I would find the character controller more responsive if I could feel my character crouch in mid-air. I felt myself missing the visual feedback of an in-air crouch of Mirrors Edge, for example. Here's a video of it if you haven't played.

The really cool, dark/mage-y art style, and great level design with very consistent pacing, some difficult jumps, and hard enemies (at least until the power spike) made for a great experience! I could play a lot more of this.

Developer

Thank you so much for all the feedback!
As a big mirror's edge fan myself I’ll defiantly consider adding a "In air crouch prep" animation to a future update, thanks for providing the timed reference :D

Hello! I have 5 minutes to write the review but each time I mention "time" I have to pay 20 seconds. XD

The idea is pretty cool, I like it being a roguelike where time is your health. Especially when the shop also require part of your precious max time. And I loved how the Powerups stack seemlessly, so you can have triple bouncing auto-aiming bullets with high fire rate. XD

I would have loved more challenge after some levels, since I ended up playing the same rooms over again after I got the hang of it, but for a game made in 4 days it's pretty impressive!

Here's the vod (game is at 0:35:00)

Really fun to play!

eye in the sky is so fun

Really fun! I think the slide needs to peel down its momentum slower instead of stopping so abruptly. It doesn't feel like the momentum carries from slide to jump too.

Really fun and polished game!

Really fun game with nice visuals, I got to room 64, in the end I was firing so many projectiles that I could barely tell where I was going and the sound was breaking lol.

Although I found I had issues with the wall running, could only get it to work sometimes.

In any case, great job :D

Magical Ultrakill looks so interesting! But as for me enemies has to much HP. I can't to go further than 6th room, because i spend to much time on killing each one monster.

This was fun! The controls for the most part felt really smooth and polished and running through the level was really fun. I also really liked the weird psx art style. I agree shift would be preferrable to Ctrl for slide, maybe you could add that mapping? Nice job!

Nice game, really fun. It's just a shame I'm really bad at it. I could only make it to room 7 at best.

It might just be a personal preference, but I found using Ctrl to slide a bit uncomfortable. I wish there were an option to change it to Shift.

You did a really great job. Wishing you the best of luck. :)

Super fun and entertaining! Loved the take on the idea and the balance between wasting time killing enemies and getting it back after they're dead.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words, happy you enjoyed it ! :)

This was super fun even on my very laggy laptop haha! I enjoyed spamming the slide button to move faster and the slide jump mechanic felt very smooth. I do wish the enemies bullets didn't block your own. I felt turned away from trying to fight them cause it was frustrating shooting a shot and having it be blocked. I think it would be much more run and gun that way. Overall great work team! Would love to see this become a full release!

Glad you enjoyed the game!

Great feedback! The idea of having the shot block your own is to incentivize the player to strafe and shoot, thus leaning more into that kind of playstyle, at least in the early game before the powerups make you crazy strong :) But I can totally see what you mean, it is a bit frustrating at times when your shots get eaten by enemy shots.

Appreciate the kind words :)

Fun movement and great visuals. Had a really good time with it!

Great game, I think you can work on it to a full release. Making this in 4 days is also impressive. Really enjoyed it

Developer(+2)

I am so glad that you liked it !
We've gotten a bunch of feedback so far so we'll at least update the game post-jam with some changes :)
