Really interesting take on a incremental upgrade game. I appreciate the UI dialog polish. The dialog animating onto and off of the screen was quite charming. The font was a bit difficult to read at times, and the beast sometimes felt like it was a bit campy near the bonfire, but otherwise I had a blast!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for checking out our game! Yeah, the font readability is not great, we got a lot of feedback around that lol. We are fixing this a soon as the voting period ends, along with some other improvements.

What a nice visual! I pretty love Enya – the fairy that gives you dialogue and instruction. IDK why, but I'm using Firefox and it's kinda laggy when loading the game and when I'm exploring. It's still playable, but the FPS is only around 50, sometimes it drops down to 30. That's the problem for WebGL, I downloaded the window version, and your game works completely fine. Well done for the game jam <3

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out our game! Thanks for the feedback too!

And yeah.. the web version was not conceived until an hour prior to the deadline lol. We didn't realize how import having a web build would be until then. Our game is not built for web so it's pretty unoptimized.

Great game, brilliant visuals! And the premise is really interesting!

Developer

Thank you so much!! I'm glad our game stood out!

Submitted(+1)

Wow, I love the visuals and everything, and the whole loop of scavenging and then upgrading is super fun, you have done a great job here!

Developer

Thank you very much! We are glad you enjoyed our game.  We are already working on changes to make it better. Stay tuned!

that was fun :)

Developer

We are very happy you had fun!

Submitted(+1)

This was great! Impressed with the upgrade paths and music and atmosphere. Very spooky. Accidentally closed the tab when minotaur showed up trying to crouch with ctrl+w :(

Developer

Oh no! I'm sorry the tab closed on that. We will look into it! I'm so happy you enjoyed it though

Submitted(+1)

The atmosphere is really immersive.

I got really spooked by the first minotaur apperance.

Developer

We are glad to hear the atmosphere stood out to you. Thank you for giving it a try!!

Submitted(+1)

Really solid game! Really cool spooky atmosphere, the progression system makes it feel very fleshed out!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

very cool atmosphere, i think you nailed the lighting and the creepy feeling. it's my first time playing a combo horror / incremental as well, very creative!

Developer

Thank you for checking it out! Glad you found this combination interesting.

Submitted(+1)

Love the atmosphere of it. Really interesting take on the theme. I would like to see more of it.

Developer(+1)

We appreciate the feedback, thank you so much for playing! I'm glad to hear you want to see more. We have been talking a lot about where we want to take this project. Stay tuned.

Very nice game, very ambitious :)

Developer

Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

You've nailed the horror aspect, but the gameplay loop is tedious! Focus on the horror and this will be great!

Developer

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback (MegaBond here). Watching you play and your feedback gave us some good tips! Thanks so much! We will check your game out as well :)

nice game

Developer

Thank you for checking it out!

I love this type of game. Incremental spooky push-further-each-time horror.

The thing it could have used most was actual darkness in the dark. I never needed the upgrade that increases lantern distance due to that fog that lets you see in the dark.  It also made it easy to spot the monster and detracted from the scares.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for taking the time to play our game! And thanks for the feedback. We will be making future updates and improvements to the game after the jam, we will talk about fog and visibility.

Submitted(+1)

Very moody and  polished game. I enjoyed it a lot!
The font had some scaling issues that made it difficult to read sometimes.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, that is the most common feedback we have received, fair criticism. We are working on updating UI and I improving readability in a future update after the jam is over.

Developer

Oh btw, loved your submission, added it to my collection of favorite games from this jam.

Submitted(+1)

I found the concept interesting, but encountered significant game freezes and technical issues. Especially with full screen

Developer

Hi error, thanks for trying it out! I'm curious what issues you were running in to so we can take a look at it. Was this the web version or install?

Submitted

The web version. When i first hit an object with the axe the game froze for a solid half a second. And the game didn't scale correctly on an ultrawide monitor

Developer(+1)

Interesting, okay. We will take a look at it! The downloaded version may be more stable if you're interested in giving that a go too! I will have to look into the ultra wide issue as well. I believe I may know what's up with that actually.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Submitted

As much as i'm sure you are nice guys, i don't download game jam games on my work computer for malware reasons

Developer

No worries. I totally understand!

Developer

Thanks for sharing that with us. Yes the web version is far less performant, that's just the nature of exporting a 3d game to the web. The freeze you experienced when hitting an object for the first time, if it didn't happen again after that, then it's due to the engine loading the shader for the particle effect for the first time. This is a classic Godot optimization issue that takes a lot more time to work around, something that would be great to have solved but 4 days is tight! That freeze is not something we as the devs noticed because after the particles load for the first time on our machines, we never run into that freeze again as the shader was then cached.

Submitted

yeah i know i know. These things happen in a game jam

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

Crazy ambitious for a jam game! Props to the team!

Developer

Thank you very much! Means a lot. We are pretty happy with what we managed to squeeze into those 4 days.

Developer (1 edit)

We poured a lot of time into it, and we came out with something we can be proud of. Thank you so much for playing our game!

Submitted(+1)

This is by far my favorite submission from this jam art and vibe-wise. This game feels so polished and has great potential. Although I will say that after about 7 minutes of playing it did get sort of monotonous or at least the dungeon did. But again, I still really enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! That is fair criticism. We are already talking about future updates to game. We'd love to expand upon this.

Developer(+1)

Wow! I am so happy you enjoyed it. It means a lot to us that our game left that sort of impression. We have been discussing how to expand and add more to the game in the future. We definitely appreciate the feedback as we'd love to make this as great as we can

Submitted(+1)

Very simple idea, but I actually had a lot of fun playing it!  I like the moody visuals, the progression, and the tension of avoiding the Minotaur.  Almost all of the upgrades were worth getting , and it was neat that getting more movement speed and stamina allowed me to kite the Minotaur and get past him, it felt like a very organic way to progress

Developer

Hi! Thanks so much for playing our game, and great feedback, glad to hear that.
