Absolute banger, I want so continue playing it so bad!!!! Bravo la crise cardiaque!!!
Great game and incredibly polished. The idea of tying the countdown to the shooting is fairly creative especially when it speeds up later on. Trading health for upgrades might filter out some players I feel, albeit I didn't have an issue with it as most upgrades leading to more damage inevitably lead to faster timer regain from killing enemies faster so it flows very well. I feel the RNG of spawning enemies could be causing some problems (especially with the pufferfishes bodyblocking each others hearts) and maybe some fine tuning there could be warranted but I still beat the game fairly comfortably, another feedback is perhaps scrapping the projectile speed upgrade as there isn't really enemies that require tracking but a projectile size upgrade would be a great replacement to accomplish something similar but benefits you in a game where most enemies walk straight towards you. I *did not* have an especially challenging time and *did not* try all to many runs, so fair to say I loved the game!

Hey thanks for the thorough review W1K!
Although you did not have a hard time beating it, some people had more trouble. I think it is fair to say we had some balancing issue, especially with the pufferfishes as you mentioned which have been known to be run killers.
Pretty cool game! It is interesting to see how everything depends on the countdown. For me the game was especially challenging, but then again, I didn’t try all too many runs. That can all be chalked up to a skill issue.
Good game!
Very nice game. The game juice was really on point. The music and sound effects coupled perfectly and the mechanic of having your lifetime as currency was also a nice touch.
Thank you for your feedback and for playing the game!
Really enjoyed this one. I had it worked out inside a few seconds which is a big deal in a jam, there’s nothing to sit and read, you just start playing.
The thing that stuck with me is that every shot costs you a beat whether it lands or not. So missing isn’t just a missed shot, it’s actual life gone, and I noticed I was aiming a lot more carefully than I normally would in a game like this. Small decision, but it changed how I played the whole run.
Best moment was getting a build going with multiple piercing hearts, I felt pretty overpowered for a bit there and it was great :)
I did manage to beat death in the end, so I got a proper look at the whole thing.
If you carry it on past the jam, more enemy and boss variety is what I’d want most, the core loop is strong enough to hold a lot more than it’s currently carrying.
Was that piercing setup always meant to be as strong as it is, or did your playtesters find something that beats it?
Thank you so much for playing, and thank you very much for your feedback!
You're right ! The piercing projectiles are very powerful and make the game easier! We didn't have much time to test the game during the jam, so we weren't able to achieve the perfect balance we were aiming for!
Thanks for your comment and thorough review! ☺️
The pierce + double shot is indeed overpowered but it cost you 40 health in the same should to buy. For me it looks like a win-more kinda thing, if you had 40 beats to spare in the second shop you would have won either way. I'll let someone who was on game design elaborate more if I'm mistaken!
Edit : didn't see maxime already addressed this point :D
Thanks again for playing your game and I hope you enjoyed it!
The idea of the beating heart for the whole game concept is really well executed!! Also the countdown theme seems well thought and core for the gameplay, btw how hard can the music be?? Congrats!!
Thank youuuuuuu! I made the music - its very very very motivating to hear such nice things about it :D
Great artwork! It's really well done—the color palette and the UI work are excellent
Saw this game on stream yesterday and decided to play it for myself! First off, I really like its style! It definitely gives off some serious Binding of Isaac vibes (in the best way possible!). Also, I know this is a minor thing, but the screen pulsating as the number goes down is such a cool touch! I'm a huge fan of the art direction overall!
I also really enjoyed the gameplay, though I feel that once you get the counter high enough, the game becomes a wee bit too easy, especially if you buy every upgrade (as you should, since they're great), which makes it virtually impossible to lose, even if you don't focus that much on dodging. Not that that's a problem, though. This game RIPS!
Huge props to the team for making this! Would kick Death's bony behind again! ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡)
Oh thanks so much Frovio, means a lot coming from you (and your team).
I really loved your art direction as well :)
you make a very good point about the game feeling kind of low stakes if you manage to bank a bunch of beats. I wonder how a refined and published version of the game would be able to make having a high total of heartbeats Still in some way feel risky
Vibe from "the binding of Isaac"
There's a lot of clever ideas in this game! There's a continuous rush for going forward and killing enemies, and the remaining beats as health and currency together works very well! I was surprised how I managed to beat the final boss, but a win is a win! Ahaha.
Pretty solid entry, incredible job!
Here's the VOD from the stream (the game is at 1:17:00)

Beaten death on my first run. Great game!
Oh I missed you on stream, I had to leave! Thanks for playing and commenting and ggs!
Really sick game (no pun intended). The game really tested my aim and made me better on each run..
Great job on your submission! I really liked the art style and the overall visual design. The drawings have a lot of personality and fit the game really well. I also thought it was a really interesting idea to have the rhythm of the gameplay driven by the heartbeat. It makes the whole experience feel very unique. Great work!
Wow the artstyle is so clean and the game feel is great! i love that you can really get into the flow easy! GGs!
Thanks you so much Tofu!
Guess now you understand the heart butt element ;)
heart butt....
LOVE THE ART IN THIS GAMMEEE!!!! (∩˃o˂∩)♡
So much fun and all the animations were so cool! I hope if you work on this game some more to see the main character having a four point turn around to make it more fun to move the heart around.
And the beating of the heart is so well done, GOOD JOB! Had fun streaming such a cool game!
