I love how you guys present this game, making it look like you're just a kid looking outside your car's window. And I also like the bonus points you get from having fewer fingers :D

Developer

Thanks! It was a fun idea to work on! 🙂

I love how silly this is, it reminds me of my childhood. So creative, good job!

Thanks for playing! 😊

i used to do this all the time as a kid, and have been thought about making a similar type of game, so glad to see it here! i always enjoy diagetic UI elements in games (the fingers representing the healthbar in this case) and thought you probably didn't even need the hand in the bottom right corner! had a fun time, good work!!

Developer

Thanks!

Similar to what was said in Mr. Jam’s comment, we could have possibly replaced the finger icon with indicators of what abilities were available. Though in that case, I wonder if players would know that they are also losing health 😅

Nice work, I love how goofy an idea this is! The different animations as you lost fingers were a nice touch as well. The only issues I really have with it are that the speed doesn’t reset when you try again and I found some obstacles overlapped in weird ways when spawning in. Also, I think it may be nice if it was communicated in the HUD what your ability is as I didn’t really know what they were. Overall though, good work on your game!

Thanks for playing!

We do have it so it shows what you can do, but only for a brief moment when you lose a finger. A HUD element showing the specifics (like you mentioned) would be nice!

Such a fun idea and great execution of it! The models and the game design is unique and cool, but the gameplay itself is a little boring. I know it doesn't make sense in the "kid imagining doing hand parkour" sense, but I would love to be able to pick things up, ride the cows, borrow a bicycle, just some little more environment interaction. Write it off as the kids imagination.

Overall a super impressive game for a weeklong jam! Amazing job

Thanks for playing! 🙂

Those are really cool ideas! Another one I could imagine would be like flicking barriers or hazards away. Lots of different ways to approach it!

ayee loved the direction you took the game!

Thanks! We appreciate it!

This is great, I love how you tackle this shared experience we all had as kids, I also made a game about this, which makes me so happy to see how many people played this way in the car as passengers. The gameplay is fun and feels good, the music is cool, sfx are great aswell, visuals are great, I just think that maybe losing fingers (which is like losing health) is not a very creative way to tackle the theme, but this is still an amazing game. Congrats!

Kind of crazy because my team also had this on the "ideas" board when trying to figure out what we could build and here it is! Presentation is great. I think there's a solid idea here. I would maybe make it play a bit easier at the start and have it get harder as you go on. But I might just be really bad at this lmao.

Developer(+2)

Thank you for playing! It does get faster as you go! But maybe it should start a little easier at the start ;)

Thanks for playing!

It was a fun idea to work on! (It was Rose’s idea for us to do it 😅)

Yeah, we could have tried to pace it a bit better. Especially if we gave more time to explain the abilities (maybe a tutorial), it would have helped.

Really smart and creative concept! I like the ability changes from losing fingers too!

Developer

Thanks! Really happy with how it turned out!

nice game man. I was searching for games with finger in the title lol and found this.

also scored 1104 on my first try idk if its good or bad. also the music does not loop after it ends during the run? I was on 1 finger at the end and the music suddenly stopped. cool game regardless.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Good score! As for the music, we probably should have made it auto switch to another track on end. But there is still the ability to change the radio 😉

super creative concept, cute game!

Super creative! The hand animation is such a unique thing even though we've all done it before. Incredible! I think the abilities could be explained in game a bit more clearly (and also the game was a bit fast for me)

Developer

Thank you! 🙂

Yeah the game is pretty fast! The abilities appearing as you lose fingers does mean that it’s hard to get time to read them, especially when there are a lot of hazards on-screen at the time.

Originally I wanted to make the hand animation procedural, and I managed to get it to work at the beginning, but decided to do simple animations in the end because managing the jumping and landing procedurally sounded like too big of a challenge for a game jam...

But I will probably explore it more afterwards!
