How does your game fit the theme?
Our game fits with the theme by not only with a count that is down, but with a countdown ticking away until you are fired if you can't solve your case. Each question asked makes the countdown count down an extra minute, making sure you count down responsibly.

Somehow, we had almost the same exact idea! However, I did not have the wordplay idea, which I am very disappointed in myself for. I really enjoyed this game, it would be really nice to be able to skip some dialogue to the end though rather than having to wait for it. Well done though!

Developer

Thanks! Not being able to skip dialogue is kind of intentional so the timer runs out, but thinking about it, it barely makes a difference.

I had a lot of fun playing this, plus I like that questions reduce your total amount of time. There was a good push and pull between trying to dig deep with an individual suspect and spreading your time across all of them. Good work!

Thanks!

I don't know much English, but the interface and tutorial design are so clean and well-crafted that I easily understood the gameplay. I have to say, the music and the black-and-white film aesthetic are absolutely fantastic! All the character designs are unique and distinctive, too. If possible, I’d love to see Japanese or Chinese language support.

Developer

Thank you so much! I will definitely look into adding other language support into future games, but I don't really plan on returning to this project.

You made a WHOLE detective game for a jam!

And whats more is that it was a very enjoyable detective game. Despite some of the questions being leading and only some that the detective in game figured out, but that's alright

managed to beat it with 1:39 remaining, but then I had to get a delivery and it seems the count down was still going,

still, good job!

Thanks! There were a few bugs with the timer that we just didn't have time to playtest out. And stuff I forgot it do.

This was so refreshing and fun! I loved the noir detective aesthetic, visually got lots of polish to it!

A few things I thought could be worked on you'd like to expand the concept more:

  • A restart button so I don't need to refresh it to try again
  • When I ran out of time during dialogue, the countdown timer started counting backwards (lol)
  • Wish there was a way to make clicking more intuitive, maybe a visual signal that I can click to continue once the text is all displayed.

Overall, great game! Loved it! :)

Thanks for your feedback!

Wasn't sure what to expect, but this ended up being my favorite genre of game, noir!! The art is clean, the characters are wacky, and narratively it was a very was a solid murder mystery. Keep up the good work guys!

Wow, we ended up making very similar games! It's cool to see still how different they are. Good job!

Only so many different things you can do. Though it is interesting a lot of people went with the "Count" as a person. Where I am right now doesn't let me look at your game, but i'll be sure to check it out and rate it as soon as I can. Thanks!
