Really fun!

Neat little game with an interesting concept!

Cool mechanic idea! Maybe you could add more weapons that you have to check the magazines on, like a machine gun or a shotgun! Maybe you could have a mechanic where you can grab items that give you a comically large chamber where you can have more bullets to shoot with without blowing up? Maybe you can add a mechanic where you can use the empty gun as a bomb and throw it at enemies for them to pick up, only to explode? Either way, I'm glad you were able to submit this entry before the deadline - I know how stressful it can be to release a game 11 seconds before the deadline lol! Good luck on the rest of your jam!

I gotta be at least in top 5

The concept is good — I liked that the enemies are done in a 2D style, like in the original Doom. But it’s missing enemy death effects and death animations. Also, it would be nice to make the gameplay more dynamic.

As someone who also made a game about counting, I'm a bit surprised at my lack of ability to keep a coherent count in this one. Constantly kept blowing myself up. It is a interesting concept though and I think with more feedback from shooting enemies (hit sounds, enemy reactions, particles, etc) it could be pretty satisfying.

Also could do something where maybe the closer you reload to 0 bullets, you get a buff or something for your next round of bullets? I don't know but I think there is a strong concept here that could go far. Good work on your game!

Thanks! We are considering refining the game so that we would add a couple more things, but that's gonna be in an entry besides GMTK submission, probably

Strong concept, it gets a bit repetitive since there's only one type of enemy

Developer (1 edit)

There are actually 3 types! New ones start appearing as you get a bit of score points (1000 and 2500 to be precise)

Oh, my bad I always died before that score, I'll check it and I will change the review

Submitted(+2)

NOT FOR ONCE I die because of enemy attack... I just constantly keep killing myself because lose count🤣 ( maybe it could be even more evil if the reloading is one bullet after another.. just had a brain wave..

Developer(+1)

Initially we actually had an idea of alternative/unlockable weapons, one of which would be a stronger revolver that had to be loaded one bullet at a time! Didn't have the time unfortunately

Today we learned how hard it is to count to 6.
