i had a strange feeling of nostalgia for a game genre i never played before, while it was a little too dark its a very cool to see a 3d point and click in the jam.
A true love letter to Myst (1993). The key components to what made the source material so great, environmental puzzle solving and clever game design, have really been understood by Salty Squad Games. To be able to condense so many aspects of Myst in such a short experience is really impressive !
Thank you so much for your kind words! Myst was the first "real" game I ever played on my parents' computer and it's what made me fall in love with the medium (along with Riven). I'm glad you felt we were able to do it justice. We'll be releasing an updated version with some bug fixes, polish, and 3 additional puzzles that were cut for time in the near future :)
Thanks for giving it a try! The reactor puzzle is definitely way more of a filter than it should have been. There is a walkthrough available in the developer notes if you wanted to give it another try, but thanks for playing nonetheless :)
Wow!!! I absolutely loved this game! It really gives off an Outer Wilds vibe, but it requires a bit more puzzle-solving. I'm not entirely sure if I reached the true ending, I believe I did since I managed to enter the black hole! However, I'm still super intrigued by the control terminal message about performing a slingshot maneuver, and I haven't figured out how to fix the electrical system on one of the starting doors yet. I'm having an amazing time playing this!
Cool idea, though pretty rough introduction that might unfortunately discourage some players to discover the game after the reactor. I did not manage to get to activate the console (yet)
After turning on the reactor I liked to explore the spaceship. After a bit of polish to improve player experience, it cool be cozy little experience
Not sure if Outer Wilds is an inspiration, but the notes and the main puzzle kinda reminded me of it :)
You're absolutely right, we're working on a version with a much more streamlined first stage :)
Outer wilds was one of our inspirations!
I loved the concept, and I like these kind of games anyway so I was excited going in. The graphical issues unfortunately were still there for the downloaded version, but I enjoyed the atmosphere nonetheless.
This felt really ambitious! The spaceship interior was well designed and felt immersive, with nice story and lore additions scattered throughout. Gives me old school point n click vibes. Nice submission!
Really great atmosphere! I had some graphical issues even in the downloaded version, and the inputs could use a bit more work. That said, I really enjoyed the concept!
It felt like a very mysterious escape room kind of a game The design and atmosphere are amazing. My only comment is that it took me a lot of time to move though the ship to reach the interactive sections
the visual design and writing are pretty good, the soundtrack is top notch. i grew up with point-n-click games, and it was probably the most refreshing game i've played in this game jam.
I like the concept and the atmosphere is great! I do wish it was a bit more streamlined though, I didn't like having to click over and over to reach the ends of the hallways when there was nothing to do/see in between
Great game! Unfortunately the light level and contrast were so low that I really couldn't see anything.
We've found that the light levels display very differently on different computers/graphics cards and that wasn't something we had known to plan for during development. The lighting gets a lot better after you turn the reactor on!
This is a good walking sim // myst like! It took me 79 minutes to escape. I did a lot of backtracking!!
* The scifi environment is very neat
* I really liked the reactivity of the ship
Some of the environments need a bit of love, though.
* I think the low light / low power environment is _too_ dark
* I wasn't sure what I did to turn on the reactor. I just stumbled around a bunch. I read the note and understood to wait.... I feel like I just wasn't patient enough until I got lucky? I think knowing the cycle time would help.
* I think some environmental cues pointing the player to the reactor, instead of the controls, would be helpful
* I don't understand the airlock or what the vent was supposed to be doing. It didn't look like anything in the darkness. Probably a visual bug, but once I closed it I also noticed my framerate shot way up
On my windows / amd box I ran into some graphics bugs. The black hole shaders were busted and a lot of the lighting wasn't working.
The notes were very cute. The scifi ship effects were also well done. I liked the black hole shader.
First of all, thank you so much for reviewing the game. You brought several interesting points to consider. I am very happy to read such an honest and complete review from someone who has thoroughly tested the game. Especially in a game jam with so many submissions as this one. We are planning to improve on these points after the game jam is over and your review is very important to us :)
I really liked the atmosphere built by the music and the spaceship, but i feel like the game would benefit from better use of lighting.
